Na it's pretty obviously a promotion for the games, almost no doubt about it. If the anime were anythin like that production costs for it would be ridiculous

May have posted this before, but I'm putting a team together, thoughts are appreciated:
Duke (Scrafty)-Docile-Basically a physical tank. Used him throughout the main story, but by pure luck, he levelled up just fine (super high everything except for Special Attack).
Volcarona (Volcarona)-Modest-A good all-around tank. Super fast, super strong, super durable, and knows Quiver Dance to boot. Raised it from an egg, but didn't EV Train it (again, pure luck, it turned out fine).
Sauron (Venusaur)-Hasty-Another all-around. Not meant to tank damage, but he's no glass cannon. Not sure what to do as far as moves go, might do something involving Sleep Powder.
Vladimir (Dragonite)-Modest-All-around tank. Would hit hard and hit fast. Would have something to counter dragons and something to counter Ice.
Clyde (Gengar)-Calm-A purebred annoyer. Puts em to sleep, Dream Eater, Nightmare, and something else. Is basically built to zip in and hypnotize the enemy before they can get a move out.
Broheim (Slowbro)-Relaxed-A defensive tank. Gave it Trick Room and plenty of stuff to cripple it as far as speed goes. It'll take a hit, pull out Trick Room, and spaz out at mach 10 until the effect wears off. Especially good at handling Dragons (Trick Room->Ice Beam).

From what it seems like I'd imagine it's just an intro or promo movie for the new game especially due to the animation quality control being way better than the original Pokemon series, but goddamn if it isn't awesome

not really risky at all, in fact I'd probably actually finally watch a Pokemon movie with that kind of animation, action and different characters. Would be pretty interesting
I guess risky in the sense that a lot of money would be spent on something they don't know will have a good return.. but eh Nintendo has plenty of money or whoever funds the franchises anime and movies
And nintendo isn't exactly reporting record profits.
Making such a movie would be high risk low reward no reason for a corp to do it.
They could post better profits of a damn mario movie either way.

Nintendo doesn't make or fund the movies. Intellectual property belongs to them and gamefreak. I'm pretty sure its produced and funded by whatever company makes the show.
