Works for me, hats in TF2 woll be equally hard to get as drops or through trade.
Sorta mixed feelings on the tutors, some pokemon got some great tools (like a decent non-grass/normal move for serperior) while I think some other pokemon got a bit ripped off. For example, Nidoking gets Superpower but Nidoqueen can't get megahorn. Also King learns drill run, Queen doesn't.
Then again, Queen's a better stealth rock user... mix that in with sheer force and toxic spikes...

Same thing if you fought Terrea first, Illusio joins you without a fight.
Rhyperior is a fuckin' TANK, but he only knows a rock move, I bring him as a distraction.
Gallade on the other hand, is pretty sweet, especially against the poison kingdom. His Warrior's ability is good too, giving movement up to everyone adjacent to him.
And my Hero still has a Gyarados, Eevee, Joltik, Luxray, and now a Garchomp.
