I think it's good
you can use other pokemon, and other trainers are better with certain types of pokemon

Wow that was literally the worst finals I have ever seen.
In any game / sports

I think you have to conquer a couple of areas first(think around 4th or 5th), then you can link with another, or with more eevees if you decide to use a password or find a swarm. Its an alright game, some tips though:
1. Don't leave areas unattended unless there is no line connecting to an enemy, they will try to take it.
2. Think try to take as much as you can before July year 1 in post game, then it gets harder and enemies will try to capture your areas.
3. Other Warlords evolve post-game, after the main story(first part).
Yeah I'm currently grinding through the post game, it's fun.
I'm doing the ninja quest atm. Funstuff although you're limited to only:
Dragons, Poison, Dark and Ghost.
It's interesting, scrafty is OP as all fuck (only beaten by super overlevelled pokes or golbats) and dragons wreck everything.
Protip for the quests: Dragon rage wins. End of story. If you get like 3 dragons in the first month or 3, you can basically take any castle until an opponent gets a defender up to 41+ hp. dragon rage is utterly broken early game.
Anyway, I'm going to take it a bit slow from here on this quest, wanna get a bunch of perfect links done before I win it. (seriously they're so hard to get)
Also some of the female warlords are SMOKIN.

God I love the ninja kingdoms... :quagmire:
I feel like replaying one of the pokemon games not sure what one however, either Yellow, gold/silver or ruby/sapphire they all had really good elements each which made them great
I feel like replaying one of the pokemon games not sure what one however, either Yellow, gold/silver or ruby/sapphire they all had really good elements each which made them great
Go for Silver imo, Ruby/Sapphire is probably the worst of the bunch.
I don't mean to be a rude asshole but ruby and saphire are definitely better than yellow.
Gen1, while nostalgic and good, is god awful. A lot of the game is broken to shit and there's lots of horrific bugs and unfun bullshit.
Silver vs ruby is pretty even imo, silver has more content (kanto + johto) but the story and interesting stuff dry up at the end of johto, ruby has a more varied but smaller region, better grinding and abilities (seriously abilities are one of the most fun parts of the game)
The only things I feel silver has going for it (and I fucking love silver, I played like 200+ hours of it) are a few cool pokes (ampharos, starters, lugia, shuckle), significantly better music and joey's rattata.
I'd rank the gens like this (leaving out Gen I since, if you can believe it, I've never played those, I jumped in late with Silver):
Best
G/S/C/HG/SS
B/W
R/S/E
D/P/Pt
Worst
That said, Gen IV is still GOOD (better than most games), but as a Pokemon game (ESPECIALLY a whole Gen, not a spin-off), it was a tad lacking.

I cannot even tell you how wrong you are. Before gen 4 the game was rather broken in the mechanics department, with attack and special attack and all that jazz. Plus with the addition to wifi the meta game boomed across communities such as smogon and now PO.
Take your nostalgia goggles off. Every gen improved upon the previous.
Every gen improved upon the previous.
This everyone can 100% agree on, I'm sure.

As far as mechanics, yes, but I'm just saying, I personally like Gen IV the least.
I really hate the dumb rating.
It's just immature, basically saying "I think you're stupid, but I can't bother to explain why I think that."
Not to mention, it's usually used when a simple, polite "disagree" would suffice.

But if I learned one thing from the "discussion" about character designs, it's that I need to keep my opinions to myself while in this thread.
Opinions.
Its been tried and tested that its better. Even on paper its better. Its closer to fact than anything.
Give me one thing that made gen 1-3's metagame/battle mechanics better then 4ths.
Every gen improved upon the previous.
I agree, except for a few things that I think the game would have been better without as the generations passed.
Personally I dislike Stealth Rock. People don't use certain Pokemon solely because Stealth Rock abuses weaknesses. Spikes are totally fine, they take multiple turns to reach their full potential and don't abuse weakness. Also Dream World abilities were a nice boost for some weaker Pokemon, but some abilities made already amazing Pokemon borderline ridiculous if the opponent doesn't have a hard counter. I dislike those abilities, especially abilities that set up perpetual weather (including the non-dream world weather abilities). I'm on the fence about it though. Unpopular opinions, I know.
But yes, the physical special split in generation 4 was probably the best thing to ever happen.
why do you care about ratings
Dunno, just something that irks me is all.
But lesson learned, I'll just keep my mouth shut when it comes to things that I like or dislike about this franchise, my opinions are dumb.
With that said, let's end this petty argument here and get back on topic.
Here's a conversation starter: Logic dictates that the next gen will be on the 3DS. That said, what kind of additions would you like to see that take advantage of the 3DS' power?
I think an orchestrated score could be cool. I'll always love the classic music, but something done like the Pokemon music in Brawl would be amazing.
I'd also want it to use the 3D for something other than a cheap gimmick, like some Wi-Fi minigames or something. A huge city or sweeping field in 3D could turn out wonderfully if done properly.

I was talking about the game as a whole.
I just prefer Hoenn to Sinnoh is all, nothing to get all up in arms about.
But like I said, this petty arguing is pointless, lets agree to disagree and end it here.
Well, rapid spin is all I have to say to that, being a huge fan of;
Whats lacking in 4th?
Dunno...
It's just sort of a gut thing, like nothing really grabbed me.
It was probably because my first ever Pokemon game was Silver, so I started out with 2 whole regions, each with their own set of Gym leaders; it all seemed HUGE, so the games have always felt a tad smaller to me after that.
When I say I like Gen IV the least, I'm talking purely on a personal "this is what I like" level.
It added some BRILLIANT mechanics (not to mention the return of night and day, which was greatly missed), but I've probably played that one the least out of all of them.
Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE it or anything.
It's still GOOD.
But it's my least-favorite gen.
I just think that good move prediction should be the counter to people who constantly switch about, not a bunch of stones that take 1 measly turn to set up.
Also not a lot of Pokemon I actually like learn Rapid Spin. Not a lot of Pokemon learn Rapid Spin to begin with.

Maybe, but when you are attacking and the enemy has dragon rage, it could be a bitch when you get hit by it(or you fail to hit the enemy while the enemy hits you with the same attack).
Still grinding on a mission, it does take a while, either try an empty base method(leave a base unattended, then retake it when the enemy takes it) or GC killing.
Oh, and for the perfect links, you could check serebii for it, but if some have a shitty perfect link(forretress), get something else. In case of warlord, after they evolve.

I miss the little preorder doodads they used to give away.
I still have my DS case with the Sinnoh starters on it and my little Lugia statue sits proudly on my desk.
Now they've started giving away downloadable legendaries and stuff as preorder bonuses, which is okay I guess, but I'm a sucker for tchotckes.
I only got a handful of pre order things with pokemon. From my memory I got a Kyogre coin from sapphire (a friend gave me this), those two guide books that came with ruby and sapphire on launch, the jirachi bonus disk for colosseum, some battle frontier pack for emerald, a poster for fire red and leaf green, and then a little ho oh statue from heart gold.
Since Platinum I've imported the new main games from Japan on launch, but I didn't feel like it with BW2.

I remember when the Legendary distributions were a big deal.
Like the one for Mew at Toys R Us.
I went with one of my friends and we met our other friend there.
Met some colorful characters, like this lady who looked to be in her late 30's who specially bred Feebass (this was when R/S/E were out) and this little kid with all Japanese lv100 shinies (in retrospect, they were probably hacked).
It was shameful, me and my friend getting our shit wrecked by these two little (and I mean anywhere from 8 to 10 year old) kids (we were like 13 at the time).
But then my third friend pulled the now-classic "Level 1 Ratatta with Focus Sash, Endeavor, and Quick-Attack" trick and took out his Shiny Japanese Azumarill in 2 turns.
Ah, good times...
[sp]I also remember the Darkrai event, we ran into the same friend who traded a Mew he had gotten to this kid for a Chimchar. Turns out this Mew he got in a trade was hacked or something and was bugging up his game, so he passed it on and got a Chimchar out of it.[/sp]
V:v:V
people always forget that the Kanto half of Gen 2 was bland and empty and just tacked on for the fuck of it
you can't use it as much of a case for the game other than to say it made it take longer

Sexymon. They took some anime dude's face and plastered it on Pokemon. That image is based off of Stealth Rocks. Sawk's is still the best though. It works on so many levels.
