oh yes, especially after evolution! to be honest, it's best to focus on training it before you focus on training any other pokemon with slow experience growth. it's definitely worth all the blood, sweat, and tears you put into training it.

I think that in addition to having pokemon which evolve as a result of friendship there should be pokemon which do so as a result of disliking the trainer. Perhaps an alternative evolutionary path. I didn't know about it until recently, but different pokemon have different starting friendship values depending on their species. Dark type, steel type, pseudo-legendary and significant legendaries (but not "cute" ones) are predisposed to dislike the trainer.
