I will always love Generation III for Abilities.
I am so tired of finding Poké Balls in the Hidden Grottos.

My god.
Wow.
[editline]21st October 2012[/editline]
Vermilion Gym is going to take forever unless he pays attention.
Well, I delete my Black 2 save file to play the game in Challenge Mode only to find that the key is bound to your actual save file. :suicide:
Oh, well. I guess I'll just have my friend send me the key on Monday.
Japanese sprites from green and red, redone in colour. The sprites where changed to look more like the anime for western release iirc.
[editline]20th October 2012[/editline]
I still need to buy black or white, I've just been putting it of because I can't be arsed to put my my ds' back together.
Nope, those are Red/Blue sprites
Yellow was more anime-styled
I hope in 3DS Pokemon we get Trainer customization, if even just in colors.
The 4th gen is the smallest overall. If you take out evolutionary relatives of old Pokemon and the standard issue Pokemon (starters, early-game critters, pseudo-legends, fossils, the standard legendary groups) you are left with a VERY small pool of Pokemon. Gen II had the excuse of being an add-on in concept, but gen 4 didn't quite pull it right.
One thing I do not like about recent Pokemon games is the replacement of older Pokemon. BW2 is adding some of the older Pokemon back in, which I love. I'm playing through White 1 right now, and I haven't found any older Pokemon, and I'm at Victory Road.
They never really thought out this key system when it comes to difficulties, did they?
Finished the game, want to play it again on Challenge mode. Send it to my girlfriend's White 2 game as well. Start a new game, can't save, so delete my save. No Challenge mode available. No worries, I think, I'll just get it off my girlfriend's White 2.
But noooo. I now have to find someone else with Black 2, and I don't know anyone :(
I finally got my hands on Black 2 yesterday, and have made it past the second gym. However, I have reached a conundrum. I love both my Flaffy and my Magnemite, but I don't want to have two electric pokemon. Should I get rid of one or the other, or should I just keep them both for a while?

keep them until you need another type on your team
keep in mind you'll have a hard time having to train them both though

I would just keep magnemite or you'll run into issues having leveled the both of them.
3rd gen stands out the least to me, and I played through each entry. Maybe I got so bored of Hoenn, I subconsciously wiped the region from my mind.
Except for Rayquaza, I LOVE Rayquaza.
Gen 4 is the only one that didn't wow me. In pokemon Red I was amazed at how big the world was and how much side stuff there was. It was also one of the first games I played that didn't tell me where to go, I felt like I could do anything. I couldn't of course, the game is basically a linear path until you unlock fly, but still, it felt like I could and that was all that mattered.
Gold was different, it had colour! All these new and exciting pokemon to find, and shiney pokemon. It was a true evolution of the franchise. Then the game dropped the bombshell, you can go back to Kanto. HOLY. FUCK. My pre-tten mind couldn't handle that shit. Then I fight the Elite four with 16 badges, feeling like a badass and Prof. Oak is all "Yo dawg, you might want to climb that mountain, that's where the badass trainers go." So I did. Then the game dropped it's second bombshell, you get to fight Red. You get to fucking fight yourself from the last game. I teamed up with Lance, I became the champion, I stopped Team Rocket, and I beat myself! There's no way the next game could top this!
I was wrong. With a new system came a whole new wave of adventure. Island hopping in Hoenn was a blast with each island feeling different, not like Kanto and Jhoto which were so cohesive, Hoenn was a microcosim of varied people and cultures. With even more pokemon to find, the inclusion of varying climates and secret bases, I was pitted against the biggest threat yet, Team Magma. These crazy fucks didn't want to catch pokemon like Team Rocket, they wanted to drain the fucking ocean! Luckily I joined up with Team Aqua and Steven Stone, the most badass pokebro ever. We fought to stop them, but the bastards woke up Groudon and THE WHOLE WORLD CHANGED! I even had a rookie trainer who looked up to me, I helped him catch his first pokemon. It was the first pokemon game where you felt like something bigger than you was happening, not just the pokemon league and some criminal group. The world was at stake. It's a crime this generation hasn't been revisited.
Gen 4 was the least memorable for me, though I didn't play it all that much, I just ran through the story and let it be. I should go bak to it.
Gen 5 has been good, but I haven't finished Black and I bought Black 2, but I'm not oing to play it until I finish Black.
the first two video games I ever played were Blue and Gold, what I loved most about gold is that the XP showed right under the HP that way you don't have to open up a menu every time you wanna see how long till a pokemon gains a level
Still trying to figure out what my team will be in B/W 2. Darmanitan and Luxray will be there for sure, not sure who else I want to put on.

4 Zubats.
What is the most unlikely team any of you have seen that proved to be remarkably good? I feel like making up a team of "benchwarmers".
Odd thread. I feel like Gen 3 was the worst and I hated literally everything about it. I thought all of the characters were garbage, the "evil team" was terrible, and all of the new pokemon looked like garbage.
I don't think Gen 4 was amazing or anything but it felt a million times better to me
Gen 5 > Gen 2 > Gen 4 > Gen 1 > TCG > The anime > Bad fanfics > Gen 3
Gen 3 was my favorite nearly all around, Gen 4 was forgettable, and I absolutely love Gen 2's music.
Though I did like some of Gen 4's Pokemon designs.
Gen 1 is just nostalgia, and 5? Kinda fell short for me on choices of Pokemon before you beat the game. Music that wasn't remixes from Gen 4 and back was good but not the best. (The remixes were great)
Maybe I just have more memories with Gen 3...
Some of my most favorite Legendaries come from Gen 3 like Latios/Latias, Deoxys and Rayquaza.

"Wow this thread sure is 'odd' for not adhering to my own opinion."
Has anyone else had issues with staying leveled up in White/Black 2? I'm at Drayden and all of my pokemon are severely underleveled. Half of my team is at level 30 and the rest at level 40-41
I am now in the process of training a Shiny Samurott and a Shiny Zorua.
On a related note, I will probably put my Shiny Flygon and my Shiny Krookodile up for trade. You guys are welcome to offer. I'm mainly looking for Shinies caught in Black or White.
I have to say Gen 4 was my favorite.
The gameplay was slower, yes, but it gave a lot of Pokemon once forgotten some really cool evolutions, and a bunch of Pokemon that I positively love, mainly Drifblim, Rotom, and Lickilicky. Plus I thought the region was really nice looking, the music was top-notch, and the character designs were amazing.
Lucas (from Platinum) and Barry are probably my favorite protagonist/rival.
Red and Yellow I've beaten about 2-3 times, maybe more but it has been years.
Gold I've beaten at least 4-5 times, Crystal at least once.
Ruby I've beaten once or twice
Leaf Green I've beaten once or twice
Pearl and Platinum I've beaten each once.
Heart Gold I've beaten 3-4 times, one of those times in Japanese
Black I beat twice, once in English once in Japanese
Black 2 I beat in Japanese, White 2 I beat in English.
By beaten I mean finished the main story and fought the E4. In the case of Black 1 beaten the E4 twice.
i cant stand the pc in red/blue so ive only played through it once

I don't think looking down on the opinions of a thread at large and calling it out of the ordinary just because of your own personal bias is "literally nothing," but who knows maybe that's just my own opinion I mean personally I think you're sort of a weirdo for not thinking so yourself!

HG/SS: Beat individually, once each.

It was a strange comment, but I don't think it's anything for us to fight over. I'm sure you guys can agree.
I've only beaten each Pokemon game once, passing on the G/S remakes. I've spent the most time on Pokemon Ruby, I did everything in that game. The other ones... not so much. So Ruby is my favorite.
Though Generation 4 brought my favorite Pokemon: Luxray!
