Happy New Year. Please fill out this optional yet extensive questionnaire about music. Here's mine. You do not have to fill this all out, nor do I expect you to. Just share some, I guess.
All I gotta say is that the battle you have with lance at the end of Pokemon gold is one of the, if not the sickest themes in the series. Alder's music is pretty kickass too
That's not how it's portrayed at all, though. He just gets tunnel vision on getting the ONE Purrloin back.
Yeah.
Just found a shiny Klink in White 2. Not sure what Im gonna do with it considering I already have a steel type (Magnezone).
Name it Gottam, NOW.
I would rather trade it off for a shiny ice-type that can use surf.

a friend gave me a shiny starly. time to train it to get a shiny version of my favorite flying type. [editline]2nd January 2013[/editline] also this is probably gonna sound dumb.... But what is "EV training" and such? I have only ever played pokemon casually, but I feel like giving this starly the royal treatment, to make it pro 420 n0-sc0p3 MLG pr0 and whatever.

STAB CC + BB would be so great. In a nutshell, EV Training is fighting certain pokemon to give boosts to certain stats. Each 4 EVs = 1 extra point at level 100. For Starly, you should fight pokemon that give Speed and Attack evs.

Without, it can take hours. With, maybe twenty minutes to an hour, depending on whether you're using vitamins and whether you're training a Kyogre or a Magikarp. I'm weird, I EV train almost all of my Pokémon, but I can't be bothered to look for good natures or IVs. I'm not too competitive though...
It is twenty minutes no matter what; switching out doesn't mean split EVs, every Pokemon involved gets the full share.
It is twenty minutes no matter what; switching out doesn't mean split EVs, every Pokemon involved gets the full share.
True. In my experience though, switching all the time made the process seem much more tedious.

Alright, done, enjoy that Starly  It's Jolly and I think it has perfect Attack IVs too (Dunno about the others, check for yourself)
Alright, done, enjoy that Starly  It's Jolly and I think it has perfect Attack IVs too (Dunno about the others, check for yourself)
Not sure how to check IVs, but it has really great attack and speed stats so it must have good IVs in it. I also gave it a macho brace to help it train better
Not sure how to check IVs, but it has really great attack and speed stats so it must have good IVs in it. I wanna get more in to online play and such with pokemens, so I wanna make a somewhat competitive team. I dont know what is considered to be good and such, so i picked this from the various games i have played (and thus is probably wrong). This is the team I was thinking of constructing: Staraptor Blaziken Shedinja Feraligator Magnezone Flygon Tips? CC? ileikboxes still stalking me?
Freezer rotom would take out 4 of those pokemon, and earthquake could take the rest.
Freezer rotom would take out 4 of those pokemon, and earthquake could take the rest.
How many cool cats use Frost Rotom in the higher tiers? Well, actually I do, but besides that. As for Gob, those Pokemon are pretty good individually, (Shedinja is a big maybe though, he's sort of gimmicky and usually relies on luck of the draw). Also Blaziken is Uber tier so with that team you'd be fighting against Arceuss, Palkias, and Mewtwos. Not fun. Try to select 1 or 2 Pokemon, and build a team around them. Synergy is a must have. Just having 6 Pokemon that do their own thing usually leads to complications and tough matches. Usually. Be wary of tiers too, as having one Pokemon in a higher tier would make the whole team fitted to that tier. Example: I have 2 Neverused, 3 Underused and 1 Overused on my team. NU < UU < OU. I'd be fitted for the OU tier because of that one 'mon. If I replaced him with a UU Pokemon, I'd drop down to UU. And if all 6 were NU, I'd be in the NU tier. Knowing every Pokemon and their abilities/moves/capabilities is a must so you don't make silly mistakes. Through playing or reading up you can learn common usage of Pokemon, their movesets, and their hold items, and then you can tweak your team to help counter those things.

I think shedinja is literally the coolest gimmick pokemon in the entire god damn game. I think his ability is unique, interesting and cool, he has amazing design and is just plain old amazing all around. But. He's useless. Shedinja will never be usable unless they buff wonder guard, don't use him. I'm sorry, but I just can't stand by and watch you send him to his death over and over. Also if you're playing smogon rules (which you don't have to, you can just play random wifi fine) blaziken is banned. [editline]3rd January 2013[/editline]
Knowing every Pokemon and their abilities/moves/capabilities is a must so you don't make silly mistakes. Through playing or reading up you can learn common usage of Pokemon, their movesets, and their hold items, and then you can tweak your team to help counter those things.
This is the most important part of battling. It takes ages, but eventually you get a feel for it. You need to learn every pokemons typing and ability minimum, a rough mental map of each pokemons stats and what their main threatening moves are. I'm not saying go to bulbapedia and start memorising, just playing the game will teach you those things as you use pokemon and come across opponents using pokemon, you'll learn naturally what most pokemon will do and what they're capable of. The only part that requires 'research' is base stats, you don't really get a good indicator in a battle of a pokemons stats unless it's your own so you'll have to learn a lot of stuff either by looking it up or by trial and error (for example, Gallade has amazing special bulk, not really what you'd expect but it's true.) Relax though, you only need to learn the pokemon in the tier you're playing at first. If you're doing OU, you need to know about stuff like politoed, scizor, tyranitar, ninetales etc, how they behave what their strengths and weaknesses are and what pokemon are good counters. It's slowly built up knowledge you get over time but you will get it if you keep playing. If it's the first time you've ever seen a pokemon in a battle, and it kills your team, that's A-OK, you didn't know what it was capable of, what's important is you learn. Losing happens a lot, make sure you learn from it :D
Also if you're playing smogon rules (which you don't have to, you can just play random wifi fine) blaziken is banned.
Decided to look this up since I kind of wtf'd at it. They banned Blaziken entirely because it's Dream World Ability + Moveset (Baton Pass) made it crazy OP? Why not just ban Dream World Blaziken and let it continue in its tier? Or just ban the move from Blaziken? Why ban an entire Pokémon because he was pushed from "strong" to "OP", when you can (in my eyes) quite easily just ban what makes him OP?
Sorry bro I can't tell you. With the garchomp unban we might see blaziken return. Unbanned it'll probs be RU.
How many cool cats use Frost Rotom in the higher tiers? Well, actually I do, but besides that.
I use Frost Rotom in my hail team, I don't really like how their special attacks are either unreliable in acurracy or have big downsides (Main reason why I prefer Lanturn over Wash Rotom), but with hail Blizzard has perfect acurracy, so it's cool. Also, BoltBeam STAB.
Johto Symphony is being made methinks. I can't wait.
I didn't like the kanto one that much. They spent so much time deviating away from the melody a lot of the music and transitions sometimes seemed unrecognizable. Hopefully they learn how to put together a better arrangement for Johto.
Fuck I hate competitive because I lose so much. I'd lose to most of you too with my team I imagine...
