I am more than okay with this.
Grass/Ground (Since it's probably going to be based on a ground sloth)
Been done (quite well, in fact), so I kind of hope not, but it's not a Fire/Fight sort of deal so I can deal with that
Grass/Fight (If they go with the tree sloth route)
Its design doesn't really seem to lend towards Fighting type as it stands
or even Grass/Normal
Why would you add Normal typing to a starter? :x
Also keep in mind that, at least until now, Grass starters have been repitlian, so... sloth/reptile mix?
Fire/Ground (Fennec foxes live in desertic areas)
Ehh... I'm not really seeing it, especially with the attack against Kirlia... but who knows
Fire alone
Better than Fire/Fighting.
or Fire/Dark or Ghost (If it's going to be some sort of magic fox thing)
Maybe, but... I don't really see starters every being Dark or Ghost.
Water alone
Quite the possibility.
or maybe Water/Ground or Water/Poison (If the evolutions are based on poison dart frogs)
And again, the design and attacks don't really lend themselves right now towards going into Ground, though Poison is a little more feasible
Unless we see their next evolutions it's going to be difficult to tell :v:
I hear ya.
There is already porn of this new generation
Oh shit, there could be character customization.
In one of the GIFs I posted, the Female Trainer is following the male trainer, and wearing a completely different outfit.
And could that mean the game is more co-op than B/W and B/W2 were?
Double battling against Gym leaders would be cool as hell.
While I will miss sprites, it looks like they're taking a nice approach to the whole 3D thing. I'm pleasantly surprised.

But of course!
"X" and "Y".
They seriously are running out of ideas.
[editline]8th January 2013[/editline]
Also these starters' names. This game reeks creativity and improvement.
Are we hype yet?
Official site's updated.
Also, one thing II just thought of... There BETTER be a skip/speed up animation button so we dont have to watch Goku and Vegeta have an argument every time i press the "Generic Attack" button.
I can see those long ass animations getting boring quickly.

Deactivating attack animations has always been a game option.

I never even knew this. and i have played all gens but 2
A couple of things that just dawned on me:
We never did get that Eeveelution reveal. Perhaps later?
And, the titles don't say 'Version' anywhere.
I'm glad I stayed up 'till 1am to see this.
... now tempted to do some quick fanart.

It seems like a Normal Pokemon with a green hoodie, and the other pokemon based on sloths (Slaking, etc...) are Normal, but yeah, seems unlikely. Perhaps it's going to be a Grass-type alone at the end.
That would be kind of cool, and there's already a clade of extinct "reptilian sloths" they could base the designs on: Therizinosaurs.
Therizinosaurs are more like giant clawed geese than reptilian sloths, tho.

I like that the frog looks like it's wearing glasses

Well, Pterosaurs don't look the same as birds, but that's how convergent evolution works, it's just that they seemed to occupy the same niche as ground sloths and chalicotherians.
Talking about chalicotherians, why isn't there a pokemon based on that? What's cooler than a gorilla-horse with CLAWS?
ok just watched that announcement trailer and holy fuck that is awesome, i now need to get a 3ds, probably that pikachu special one if they still have it in stock
They are uploading porn already, something tells me that the R34 Community liked this game a lot
3D pokemon is going to be fucking awesome. But now I have to buy a 3DS.

Or they are just randy, like as usual.
Also, bets on the typing of the new (likely going to be) legendaries/version mascots? I think:
Fire/Flying or Fire/Dark+Levitate for the bird thing.
Steel/Grass (The body, specially the hooves, looks metalic) or Grass/Something for the deer thing.
Grass alone seems a bit dull for a legendary, but it could be possible (I remember thinking Gothorita was going to be Psychic/Dark and ended up Psychic alone, for example)
As a guy who hasn't played a Pokemon game since crystal, I'm kinda interested. But still those Damn starters are ugly as hell.
The Bird has to be part flying, I mean, c'mon.
And the Deer does seem part steel.
It's hard to tell, maybe there will be a new type introduced that they'll both be?
It's hard to tell, maybe there will be a new type introduced that they'll both be?
But what new type would it be? I don't really see any plausible and balanced new possibilities.
Looking for either a Modest one so I can evolve it into a Magnezone for an electric Powerhouse, or a Calm one so I can have a bulky Eviolite Magneton with an improvement on its not-as-amazing Special Defense.
Magnet Pull is the ability I'm after. Even if Sturdy is much more useful in non-comp play, it feels wrong for a MAGNET Pokemon to not have MAGNET pull. Call it a quirk of mine.
just managed to hatch a calm one with magnet pull, i also have a calm with sturdy if you want that one aswell ?

I like the fire and grass starters more than the water one.
Fennekin doesn't look like a Fire/Fighting Pokemon, or look like it could evolve into one.
I'm not sure about this all...
I mean... It hardly even feels like over 2 years has passed since the release of Black and White...
Does anyone else feel the same? I feel like the more generations are released, the less time there is between the releases. But I've looked, they're roughly the same time between each release of new generations. It just feels sooner.
I'm sure I'll warm up to it eventually, but... Wow.
Hey, don't get me wrong, the game looks incredible so far.
I'm glad I stayed up 'till 1am to see this.

I started drawing Froakie (then kept stuffing up it's proportions) so I moved onto Fennekin instead:

Now that I pay attention to this, can you see the snow flakes on that attack?
Could it be that this starter is going to be Water/Ice and the "cloud" thing is just snow?
I hope its last evolution is based on something like Koolasuchus (It's speculated that it was adapted to a cold climate where crocodiles couldn't survive, so it seems somewhat likely)
