Actually, I think shinies right now are simple palette changes. Since things are stored as a palette of colors, you only have to store very minimal data. Something like the hex code for each color, because the game can then figure out how to apply things.
Shinies in 3D would more than likely require a new texture, and even if it's just 64*64, that's still more data thing a string of ~4-8 colors.

You could still do a palette swap, the code would be harder but the principle is the same.

There are 3 different outfits the female trainer has on in the trailer;
-A default looking outfit(first time you see her)
-track shorts with running shoes and the weird hair of the Black 2 Female Protag(When Male protag is running in a forest, Female is right below him)
-Some fancy looking outfit, and she has blonde hair now(somewhere in the middle of the trailer)

There is gonna be a ground type E4 which will be trouble for Luxray and Empoleon (and even Beautifly if one of them carries rock moves), You should get yourself a levitate that can wall defensively or resist rock, Weezing or Flygon are good.

Well, unrelated to X/Y, I finally found 2 shinies today. One of them(golurk) was accidentally ko'ed(I was EV training, and I noticed too late) and the other was caught(purrloin or something, crap).
About X/Y, I am not convinced yet, I will wait till more info is released.

An then when watching the video again you notice the sunglasses are left behind when swinging on the rope at 0:24

Can't be an NPC, this person was following male protag, and had the same running animations, if you remember past games, NPCs who become your temporary partner pretty much hold onto your shoulders as you walk, and sprinting just makes their walking animation go faster.
Plus there was an area in the trailer that looks like some kind of parlor/department store, with a blonde female protag.
Man, I am so hype. Definitely going to get Y and Fenniken. I really want to expect to see older Pokemon that have something to do with gene modification, like Mewtwo, Deoxys, and Genesect, but I learned with Black and White that any awesome theories we come up with never seem to happen.

I'd get rid of Slash, a Fighting move is useful and Samurott's speed is pretty bad. Also, if you want, you can always get Megahorn to replace X-Scissor.
