No, I don't think they fixed that. If you see from the trailer, female protag is in a different lane than Male Protag and was moving independently, when a character follows you in any of the released games, they are always in a tile next to you.

That was because they didn't have different sprites for walking and running. With models, it is as easy as using the walking and running animations the PC will share with every single NPC, most likely.
Also those typings are terrible. Poison is absolutely terrible as a secondary to Fire, the only benefit it gives is Fighting resistance among a slew of negatives. Ice is a shitty defensive type and I hope to god froggy doesn't get it. Grass/Ground has already been done before.
