they made the shiny indication so obnoxious this gen, though
Played random battle online for the first time in B2.
HOLY SHIT.
The Japanese do NOT joke around. Steamrolled by 2 different Japanese players, one with mostly Legendaries, and one with the typical team layout(Tyrannitar,Blissey, ect)

They really need to implement some type of filter in Wi-Fi battles, so as not to allow any hacked 'mons online.
It gets so tiring when you end up with nothing but Japanese kids with teams comprised of shiny versions of every super badass xXxedgy legendary with maxed out stats.
Also, filters that allow you to ban legendaries if you want.
I mean, there's nothing more satisfying than managing to trounce some dickbag with all legendaries (and one Infernape, always Infernape, because Fire/Fighting iz 2 extreem) with an actual team, but it'd be nice to sort them out from people who actually want to play the game.
Is there any place I can find that sells Pokemon Emerald cartridges? I just recently found my old Gameboy Advance SP with a working charger and I want to play that game that brought many years of joy to me a long time ago.

I think I saw one in a Gamestop the other day
Beyond that I'm sure there're some on Ebay
To add to this shiny discussion, I know I've come across some in my time. I might still have some lying around somewhere.

And that is why I prefer not to play online in any pokemon game.
That and, when you actually have a chance to win, they turn off their DS to stop the game from counting it as a loss.

Just about every Gamestop near me doesn't sell Gameboy games. I mean, I haven't literally checked every Gamestop but just about all of them I go to never seem to have any.

I wish more people used the pokes they like instead of a bunch of basically smogon pre-made teams, it's no fun always fighting to the same dang stuff
I just got back into the anime and I'm now quite tempted to buy whatever the latest Nintendo handheld is and play some Pokemon, good idea?
there wouldn't be a thread if we thought playing pokemon was a bad idea
there wouldn't be a thread if we thought playing pokemon was a bad idea
TO be honest I've never actually played Pokemon, just watched the anime when I was a kid then had a friend insist we watch it again. Much more interesting when you're not continually missing episodes

This. I've tried out the tournament downloading thing in PWT which basically lets you fight against the finalists of the VGC'12.
EVERY SINGLE TRAINER had a Hitmontop with the exact same attacks (Rapid Spin, Close Combat, Foresight...), not counting other pokemon which were basically your typical OU pokes (Tyranitar, Latios, Heatran...)
Also, hacking Blazikens with Speed Boost (Because it's still a Japan-exclusive thing AFAIK) still seems a good practice, I ran against one the second time I fought against someone in White2, and gladly I was able to win against him :v:

i do, i'd never give up my team
at this rate, i'll be catching all the legendaries and i'll make them the HM slaves
i'd never disgrace my team by forcing them to use HMs

Surf and Waterfall are actually useful HMs in combat, but that's about it (I kind of wish Strength could flinch like Waterfall).
I also use pokemon that I like always (which normally fall under RU or UU) and no legendaries, but I still have a couple of them in case I have a "Legendary match" against someone :v:
I use Smogon as a reference where moves are concerned, like, what's the best moveset for Scolipede for example(I usually go Toxic, Venoshock, Steamroll, and Rock Climb).
Page king, here's a Scolipede;
