Because I have a different opinion than you?
BW/BW2 were meant to invoke the same reactions from people who first played R/B/G/Y.
The feeling of adventure, of exploring a new region, with new pokemon, new trainers, and a new story.
Plus, Unova is based on New York City and other areas of the world, so a large muggy city is hitting the nail on the head, but that doesn't mean Game Freak is running out of ideas.
A lot of the 5th Gen Pokemon are mirror images of pokemon from gens 1 and 2, like the garbage pokemon having similarities to Grimer and Muk, and the Klink line being similar to Magnemite.
When the story is beat, you than can run into Pokemon from previous regions.
With BW2, the regions are all mixed from the beginning.

Which may be fun for people who have played older games and feel like Pokemon is getting boring, but not for me.
I misspoke, it's also meant for newcomers as well. If everyone in the world starts B or W at the same time, it's a new region, and exclusively only new pokemon until the story is beat.
Perfect for newcomers.

confused by the cities? it's a kids game. kids are meant to be able to navigate them. come on
you want older pokemon? B/W2 has 300. half of those aren't from Gen 5. if that's still not enough for you, then you should be trading and transfering the pokemon you do want into your game, like you're supposed to be doing. the pokemon world is a world, not every pokemon is going to be available everywhere
if you're too lazy to take advantage of the game's essential features and want to say it's bad because of it, then that's your problem
Because I have a different opinion than you?
You're entitled to a different opinion by all means but whether it's valid or not based on current evidence is another matter. Your opinions seem highly biased towards nostalgia which is fine because you can appreciate the older games in the series much more easily and there's nothing wrong with that.
However, the older generations compared to the current ones are at least vastly mechanically inferior. There's no physical / special split, in Gen1 there's no SpA / SpD, No dark or steel type, much fewer pokemon, much fewer type varieties, no variety in battle mechanics, little in the way of "post-league" story or gameplay etc etc.
In fact considering that most people complain that the formula, setting and story doesn't change surely due to the high praise people give the earlier games the current games should recieve that exact same praise? I can't really think of a mechanic that GameFreak have added that has been to the detriment of the game.
I never said that B/W2 was terrible full stop, I said that I found it terrible because it wasn't at all what I was expecting, and then said that maybe when I finish HeartGold and SoulSilver I'll find it much more enjoyable.
Problem is that when I play HeartGold/SoulSilver it feels technologically superior, everything is more streamlined, the graphics look better, etc.
Sure, B/W may have moving sprites, but they look uncanny and look like they've been stretched out and morphed when they move and it really does throw me off into the uncanny valley.

Also, as I said before, I can't do this transferring because I don't have the older games. As I've said many times before, I'm not saying that B/W2 are bad games, I'm just saying they're not my cup of tea.
I disagree, everything seems slower in HG/SS and don't get me started on the speed in D/P/PT. And why have you brought up the moving sprites all of a sudden? What does that have to do with technological superiority on a level that matters?
If you ask me, moving sprites was my main selling point for 5th gen.
It made the battles much more lively, even if it was just a simple looped animation. Made the Pokemon feel more alive. Yes, they stretch and tween the body parts, but I honestly don't see a prob there, as who wants to make 20 different frames for each of the 600+ Pokemon? Still looks good.
little in the way of "post-league" story or gameplay
You know, personally... I don't mind this about Gen I. You're Champion. You're the best Trainer in the world. Now what? Well, nothing. [sub][sub](especially considering the technical limitations at the time)[/sub][/sub] What are you supposed to do when you're the best? Gen II's was amazing, too. I actually feel like Gen IV and V's post-league story is actually very lackluster. I can't remember Gen III's, and FR/LG's sucked as well. I never really liked how you were kept from going to entire sections of your region just to keep it for post-story.
And before you bring it up, I feel Gen II is different. You can access all of Johto pre-league. They open up to Kanto post-league, you never even really knew it was there until you get to the League. It was never kept from you, it was hidden entirely. Gen IV had that upper corner kept from you. Gen V had half the damned region locked off. I can kind of understand since it's a giant loop, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Another thing to note is that the exp distribution in Heartgold and Soulsilver is painful.
It is really a hassle having to train 6 pokemon when wild ones give out so little expirience points.

RSE had no post-league content (Unless you count the Battle Tower/Frontier and catching the main non-box legendaries), it's one of the things I didn't like about Gen III, after Gold and Silver had all the Kanto region and a true final boss if felt very lacking.
Gen IV and V were a step in the right direction (Specially in the case of B2/W2), with some extra cities and routes to explore, but I agree in that the surprise factor is much better and feels more rewarding rather than having unaccesible places on the map.
Speaking on Gen's III and beyond... I really never liked getting the BBEG's shoved on you. The simple, subtle change from Gen I and II's "you should go defeat the BBEG's" to Gen III and beyond's "go defeat the BBEG's" is something that I've never really liked. There's less emphasis on you becoming the best, like no one ever was, and more emphasis on "help us, we need a hero".
It's to do with 3D mapping, first two games are X and Y and the expansion will be Z, this is because it's their first 3D game.

GenIV onwards had 3D environments. Gen VI just ditches sprites for models and has a different perspective.

It is BOTH. Dimensions AND DNA. The fact that there is a DNA configuration named Z-DNA also quite neatly points torwards a 3rd version. Because X2 and Y2 now probably won't be as likely.
I've been thinking how many pokemon could fit into the new game in 3D,
a quick wiki search puts the 3DS's cart size at around 8 gigabytes max (currently) and a equally as quick search on bulbapedia puts the current number of pokemon at 649.
I'm going to assume that around 150 new pokemon (bringing the total to around 800) will be added and I'm going to guess that each pokemon's data would come around to maybe between 5 to 15 megabytes (including models, animations, textures, sounds, stats) so I'll put that at 7 MB per pokemon. 800 x 7 = 5600, and 8 GB is equal to 8192 MB, leaving 2592 MB for everything that isn't a Pokemon (Playermodels, NPCs, effect sprites, terrain ect).
I'm guessing Nintendo are working out a way to increase the storage size of a 3DS cart to fit everything else in. they managed to fit every pokemon (with animation and sound!) on to a DS card I'm sure they can manage a way.

Also I'm not really taking into account how complex the pokemon's models are (Porygon's and Voltorb's models are not going to be as complex as other pokemon)

Complexity doesn't matter as much as poly count, right?
Plus, the Pokemon look much lower res than the sexy models from Pokedex 3D Pro, plus they have cell shading.

looks like it was made off of the pokemon stadium model (or even one of the GC ones, idk) in Pepakura.
One thing I never liked about Castelia City and White Forest (not sure if it's like this in Black City, too) is how the camera is zoomed extremely far out. It shows how big the map is, yes, but it makes all of the sprites look all messy and pixelated. The player character especially looks terrible when the camera zooms out like that.
X and Y damn well better utilize StreetPass, because I fucking love StreetPass for some reason.

My friend had a theory that instead of Pokemon Z or Pokemon X2 and Y2, the Threequel will be Pokemon XX and Pokemon XY.

And then after that, there could be Pokemon XXX.
After an exciting victory against N, and a humiliating defeat at the hands of Ghetsis, I think it may be best to end the Nuzlocke here and start over.
Technically, not all is lost. I've got some back-up in the PC. However, none seem particularly effective against Ghetsis and his horrifying Hydreigon that swept the remainder of my team.
I'm still amazed that my Starter survived up until that point, though.
