yay, new avatar.
I'm thinking of playing a gen 4 game, which one is the best one?

Platinum.

Gen 1 players would get this
God damn, his mouth has to be dry like a desert if he flies for half an hour like that.
I've decided to play my Gen3 games like I used to. Really fun to sit and swap batteries in them.

I bought a copy of Pokemon Leafgreen a while ago. It turned out to be a bootleg, so it deletes the save file as soon as you turn the game off. Is there any way to fix this? I'm probably being stupidly optimistic, but I thought I'd ask.

Sounds like a battery issue.

It's not a sea serpent, it's a chinese dragon. Chinese dragons...levitate, I guess.

I know but it's the fact that, to my knowledge, Gyarados still can't learn fly.
I know but it's the fact that, to my knowledge, Gyarados still can't learn fly.
It still can't, which is especially annoying given that the only flying type move it can learn is bounce. I'd love to have one on my team if not for the STAB-free extra type and 4x weakness to electric attacks.
I wish Gyarados could learn at least Aerial Ace, just for the sake of always-reliable STAB.
Maybe we'll have something new in Gen VI for it (crossing my fingers for a midly powerful physical Flying attack that doesn't involve recoil damage, recharge turns or poor distribution)
At least having a dead battery in gen 3 didn't delete your saves.
At least having a dead battery in gen 3 didn't delete your saves.
I remember when the battery of my Pokemon Silver cartridge died last year. I had the complete pokedex there, even Celebi and Mew.
It was bad enough that Gen III broke the retrocompatibility chain (for a good reason), but also the damn battery was welded into the cartridge and there's no way you can replace it unless you have a lot of equipement.
When ev training, do the evs only take effect once you've reached lv 100?
Or do they get gradually added on?

They are accounted always, whatever your level is; it's just that they're only accounted as "1 more stat point for each 4 EVs" at level 100, it's calculated differently on other levels
I know but it's the fact that, to my knowledge, Gyarados still can't learn fly.
Weird, I could've sworn it did.
Man I'm forgetting a lot of things, aren't I?
I always teach my Gyarados Bounce.
Nobody ever expects it too, so it's great for SURPRISES, especially since how Fighting types that think they can 1-up you with a Stone Edge are really common.
I make sure that I Baton Pass a Hone Claws boost to it first with my Ninjask though. 85% accuracy is a little shaky.
Does anyone use Battle Items (Those items like X-Attack, X-Speed.)? I never found them any usefulness, but I guess some of you may use them
Does anyone use Battle Items (Those items like X-Attack, X-Speed.)? I never found them any usefulness, but I guess some of you may use them
I personally never use them. Especially since they're one use only.
I do.
X Defend actually is really useful early on in the game. X Defend is how I defeated Cheren in B/W2 and Lenora in B/W.
I've also used X Sp.Def, X Accuracy, and even Dire Hits to an extent. I would never go out of my way to buy them (except maybe one or two times), but I'd use them if they were in my inventory.
I found this today:

They are used in all of the speedruns, since 9 times out of 10 you are trying to 1 - 2 hit all of the opponents pokemon

I just consider them early-game vendor trash, personally. It's a shame they're worth so little, though.
Testing my Dream Team in the Battle Subway.
Snorlax and Trick Room Slowbro work great together, they're a couple of slow bros.

Considering a higher-level move can give you 2 or 3 stat boosts, I can't see them being very useful.
I always feel like a cheat using items in battle anyway :X but I'll use a revive if I'm on the verge of losing, or a hyper potion if the gym leader starts spamming full restores or something.
