I think the gen 2 graphics have a nostalgic beauty to them. They're very rich and colourful even if the battle animations aren't that great.

Gen2 battle animations were awesome. Some are far coole rthan the new ones, in particlular hyper beam and thunderbolt.

Reading all these posts about graphics and jaggies...

The sprites are made that way. It's not some model that can have AA, it's a sprite.

Look at Blazblue. There are smooth effects and such, yet the characters have the "Jaggies"

Ice types aren't the best type defensively, but offensively they are one of the few types that can literally and metaphorically ice any Dragon types that come knocking.

Garchomp can eat his heart out with it's 4x weakness to ice.

Shame, though, that Ice Beam can't be taught to that many Pokemon.

I remember couple of instances where Ice-type Hidden Power, for example, saved my arse.

Although it's weird that dragons are weak against themselves. I think ghosts are too.

I just can't get over how stupid the pokemon are in the newer generations. I heard that one of them was garbage. ACTUAL GARBAGE! It seems as though they ran out of ideas.
I thought the third generation was an abomination because of Team Rocket's disappearance, bad pokemon, and just not really anything as epic as the first and second generation stuff.
Second generation is the most fun games, first generation was the best TV series of them all, and the third had alot of game improvements, but it wasn't really good...
My opinion on the ratings:
First generation - 9/10 Balance issues; makes up for in nostalgia.
Second generation - 10/10 perfect
Third generation - 4/10 Too much change, shiny stat bonus removed, not enough cool pokemon, just terrible really, but I have to say some of the new features were awesome.
Fourth - Didn't play, but from what I've seen of it 7/10 -small recovery from third
Fifth - 0/10 Shouldn't exist. Kill it with fire.
This is only my opinion, don't rate me dumb just because I don't like your snivies or mudkips.
