Why must trading Pokemon from Soul Silver to White be so difficult? According to Yahoo Answers, apparently you have to beat the main storyline before being able to transfer Pokemon. What's the point of doing that? I want to be able to use my Pokemon acquired from other games to beat this game with. Why must they do this to me?! I've never played Pokemon on wireless, nor do I plan too, so why would they make it that you can only obtain your older Pokemon [I]after[/I] you beat the game?

I've never played Pokemon on wireless, nor do I plan too, so why would they make it that you can only obtain your older Pokemon [I]after[/I] you beat the game?[/QUOTE] People like to think it's because Gamefreak wanted your experience in B/W to be fresh, entering a totally different region (by that I mean not anywhere near where the previous 4 gens take place) and because of that you'll get a new ecosystem tied off from the previous games. It's like playing Red and Blue for the first time again with some of the themes and quirks from them returning in a different form like the Hitmons and Throh/Sawk. You can also say it's like them getting you to play by their rules, a little strict without the ability to transfer your old teams but the difficulty has been raised which means that it's arguably harder to do a Nuzlocke run in B/W than Emerald etc. Those are the reasons I can think of from the top of my head.

Basically B/W is meant to stand alone, once you beat it (not that hard) you can get all the previous content, but as jechtman said, it's game freak making you play by their rules, they designed B/W as it is, to stand alone, because they wanted you to enjoy the new game, and so you'd try out all the new mons. I admit I myself probably wouldn't touch 90% of the new mons if I had the option to get an aggron a nidoking and a garchomp at any point in the game.
