that looks amazing.
no need to quote the whole thing.
Cut out the images in the quote.
The timesplitters map editor is probably the first one I used. Maybe tony hawks actually.
empire earth and far cry 2
LittleBigPlanet is fucking incredible for level creation
Oh god no, it was so unintuitive, and it took ages to make anything worthwhile compared to all the other editors I've used.
It's a shame TF2 doesn't have a mapmaker system like Timesplitters. The modular system would work quite well, especially for the indoor environments.
Oh, and Kodu for the xbox 360 (and PC, but it's not a very good port at the moment).
Quite a while back (as in, several years back) I saw a map editor for Counter Strike that worked like the one in Timesplitters.
I loved FCIP, one map that I made that seemed people liked was the octocopter, do you happen to have that on ur hdd?
I liked Halo 3's Forge, even if it was simplistic and rigid
Halo Reach's Forge will (hopefully) be much improved and not just a rehash
I heard they were launching with a map that's kind of like Sandbox but actually on release day

the Halo Reach forge will contain loads of new objects and features compared to the current Halo 3/ODST forge.
And i heard rumors that they would release free DLC for Forge objects and maps.
And currently im using the Far cry 2 editor.. ALOT.
I like the GEM editor and GECK/TESCS.
The GECK is really easy to use once you get used to it, and since it's an entire-game editor rather than just a map editor, you can do some really advanced stuff with your worldbuilding. Like an object you can activate and the model changes and it gives you an item or something.
Company of Heroes WorldBuilder is really good! And if you know NIS it can be pretty cool too!
The Radiant series of editors (Q3 engine games), we had none of this fancy drag/drop/done stuff :colbert:
Console map editors are not real map editors. I wouldn't call Forge a map editor.

Far Cry 2/IP is :v:
Map Editor: Far Cry IP, FC2, Hammer, UT3 SDK
Level Editor: Time Splitter, Halo Forge.
Spore: Galactic Adventures' Adventure editor.
I wish far cry 2 would allow you to make singleplayer levels. :sigh:
Sandbox 2 is by far the best in the ease of use v power ratio, you can do everything the devs could do without as much hassle as hammer.
RED editor (red faction) and GEM.
You guys really can't use the GECK? It isn't that hard, you just have to read some tutorials and you'll get the hang of it relatively quickly.
Spent $20 on Far Cry 2 for my 360 just so I could make maps and show them to my friends, all the other fun stuff in it was a bonus
american conquest map editor. Very nice i must say.
Age of Empires 2.
I love RTS map editors in general.
FarCry 2 has an amazing editor.
If it would only support singleplayer :saddowns:
Noone has said Men of War? This cannot be.
GEM Editor it is.
Picture rape incoming, maps i've made with it.
PIC PIC PIC DICK
I demand feedback :saddowns:
Damnit im late :\
best map editor
Simple and Powerful
Supreme commander has a fan made map editor that isn't too bad, takes some trial and error though.
Doom Builder map editor for Doom 1 and 2. Allowed you to make complex maps with your own textures, allowed you to place weapons, enemies, spawn points, triggers, etc. in the map with ease. It basically had a tool for creating land, ramps, ceiling, doors, etc, a tool to detail those, and a spawn tool to spawn whatever you wanted.
Halo Editing Kit.
I love sandbox 2 and all but it I hate the fucking random crashes I get.
minecraft
I see what you did. :smug:
Tomb Raider level Editor. You can make games for the engine used for TR4. Don't let the fact that it's 10 years old deter you. It still has a community going strong that still makes levels to this day.
And it's free.
Hasn't anyone mentioned the Starcraft/Warcraft map editors? I loved the trigger system on those and how creative some map editors would have to be to create new gamemodes and stuff. Was really simple to pick up and learn, while still being potentially very powerful.
Heh, I had so much fun with Starcraft's map editor. I remember placing and destroying units with triggers to create explosions.
