DUAL WIELDING PRACTICALLY ANYTHING!
[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline]
And bigger boobs!
defenders rendered useless, everyone is going to train with dual weapons
Hmm they didn't said anything about defenders. But I imagine since they're changing the combat level of all NPCs to the new combat level system (since some NPCs lie in the current system), it might be that it's faster to train with dual wield, but more expensive because you will be taking more damage and won't have defensive abilities to heal you and what not.
[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline]
It's also not been said if you can dual wield range and magic together, but I assume you can.
[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline]
Apparently you need to have an off-hand version of a weapon to wield it, you don't just wield it in the shield slot. Which is kind of lame.
good
f2p arent customers why should they get more stuff
[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline]
there doesnt need to be a f2p and p2p balance
Goddam that looks good, PVP sounds like it'll be tonnes of fun and indepth as shit now. Dualwielding range+melee and so on is going to be awesome.
Will have to grind a bit to get that enhanced excalibur :(
[editline]23rd June 2012[/editline]
[QUOTE=Captain Chalky;36442615]All these huge changes are just screaming "you need to add more armor and weapons for both p2p and f2p to keep the balance", but I just know that F2P will get nothing at all and P2P will also get nothing at all (right away).[/QUOTE]
Pretty sure they'll be adding F2P stuff since they said they're adding alot more armor and weapons for all levels.

Defenders will probably have a different purpose on release.
Off-hand weapons will be members only.
I suppose you all already know that the combat level formula has changed, so it's now Defence + X + 2 = CB, where X is your highest combat stat (Attack, Strength, Range or Magic). Constitution, Prayer and Summoning are no longer accounted for in the formula.
fuck this 10k limit

Woah, this is the first time I actually got a rare drop. Of course not by myself, but still. :v:

They're adding off-hand versions of weapons, but not all weapons are going to have off-hand versions. As for adding new stuff, they have a shit load of weapons and armor on f2p and p2p that are useless, they are rebalancing that equipment to make it more useful.
So is there any set clan for facepunch, or no?
Because if not I can invite you guys to the pretty much empty (6 people that are never on) clan I'm in; it'd be great to have a clan chat with some facepunchers.
With the community this game has, a lot of the times I feel like I'm the only sane person.

I don't like the new formula, anyone with high uncounted stats could fuck you up.
2006Scape just got DDoS'd
Well fuck.
I agree that that combat formula seems to be a problem if you're using melee, especially if you're starting from a pure account. But I think the idea of the new combat level is really just to show someones potential. If you're 99 strength, then that means you would have unlocked all the abilities that come with having 99 strength and obviously some of them are going to be really powerful.
With the way I understand the new combat system, I think that someone with 60 attack and 99 strength fighting someone with 99 attack and strength (and lets say they have the same defence levels), the person with 60 attack would still have a chance to do some serious damage to the guy with 99 attack before the fight ended (since fights will be a lot longer). It could even just come down to the person with 60 attack utilising their defence abilities more which could give them an advantage.
I think it would probably be worse for someone who had 99 attack and 60 strength though.
I just found out that because there are metamorphosis forms for Mages, they haven't been changed for the Ancient spellbook. Apparently according to one of the mods, the Ancient spells are being renamed. There is a hilarious thread in the combat forum with people going through Ancient/Zaros lore and changing all the old words to the new words. It's pretty funny.
Smoke -> Gale (Air Element)
Shadow -> Rock (Earth Element)
Blood -> Bloodfire (Fire Element)
Ice stays the same (Water Element)
To be honest I think this is pretty poor on Jagex's part. Most of this update has looked great but these are really stupid names and it makes reading mahjarrat and zaros lore pretty funny, especially stuff about Sliske (change all times shadow is mentioned to rock).
[editline]23rd June 2012[/editline]
[quote]One of the more powerful of our number. Sliske has particularly strong shapeshifting capabilities and powers over rocks. I would love to catch this guy, but he's a slippery fellow.
Not much is known of Sliske's powers. He is known for "delving the rocks," possibly due to his "powers over rocks," as Zemouregal mentioned in his notes.
Sliske's "power over rocks" is noted to be very useful by Azzanadra, who states that "Not many of our kind are able to reach into the Rock Realm, but of those who can, Sliske’s mastery is unmatched."[/quote]

Are my stats good enough to do any boss? If so anyone want to get a group together and go?

It becomes a problem though when you only have 99 defence and attack and you're fighting someone with max stats.

Get 99 Strength and Ovls, not worth it without it.

I think constitution doesn't have as much of an effect now with all armour sets giving LP boosts. Summoning is fairly useless in single combat. Prayer should be taken into account though I think. Especially if someone has something like soul split. I don't know how that's going to work but surely you could put on soul split before you do an ultimate ability and you would nuke their prayer, heal for loads and do loads of damage all at once.

So how much do you guys estimate 99 RC will take in this hellish place?

3 to 4 weeks playing a lot.
[QUOTE=Ergolicious;36462133]3 to 4 weeks playing a lot.[/QUOTE]
Anything to do during that besides browsing facepunch/4chan, becaue those won't last me more than a few days.
runescape is getting a bit too easy now
I get confused when people say it's a hard game. There's no real skill involved, unless you call repetition skill.
I don't know if it's been mentioned, but along with the new combat formula and all NPCs having their combat level changed so that they tell the truth now, there is a 90% reduction in XP from fighting NPCs that are 30 levels below your combat level.
So I mean that kind of increase this perceived difficulty.
Also because there aren't a whole lot of strong NPCs, I can't remember what level you had to be but at around level 200, you will be able to fight NPCs 50 level below you before the XP reduction.
So yeah, no more training at experiments or bandits for people any more. They'll actually have to go fight something worthwhile.

The end of Runescape as we see it here.
having 30million experience in attack, strength and defence.. i dont care :v:
[QUOTE=MegaErathia;36469588]The end of Runescape as we see it here.[/QUOTE]
Oh I forgot to mention, although it might have been implied.
So you're defence is 99 and your Magic is 99, but all your other combat stats are 1. You have a combat level of 200. However if you are training attack/strength/range, then your combat level will act as if it's 102 instead of 200, so you would still get normal XP for attacking something that is combat level 72 or higher.
[editline]24th June 2012[/editline]
I'm hoping that Jagex will at least give an incentive to train against monsters your level, aside from just making it bad to attack things that are 30 levels lower than you. Like maybe an XP boost if you're attacking something 10 levels higher than you.
Well I hope they increase the levels of slayer monsters, otherwise you will be getting shitty combat xp for most of them (If you are near level 200)
[QUOTE=Lemurs;36470263]Well I hope they increase the levels of slayer monsters, otherwise you will be getting shitty combat xp for most of them (If you are near level 200)[/QUOTE]
Each monster has a set slayer xp per kill, your level has nothing to do with it.
