Each monster has a set slayer xp per kill, your level has nothing to do with it.
I specified COMBAT XP, not slayer xp.
It has also been mentioned by JMods that currently Slayer XP is slightly faster than it is in the live game because you're able to kill slayer monsters faster. So slayer XP will likely be slightly reduced so that the XP rates are the same as they are now.
Lemurs, you're basically going to have to use a better slayer master and hope they don't give you something easy. No more using Vannaka all the time.

Also don't forget, that a lot of NPCs combat levels will change to actually reflect their stats, so some slayer monsters combat levels could go up or down.
Oh I forgot to mention, although it might have been implied.
So you're defence is 99 and your Magic is 99, but all your other combat stats are 1. You have a combat level of 200. However if you are training attack/strength/range, then your combat level will act as if it's 102 instead of 200, so you would still get normal XP for attacking something that is combat level 72 or higher.

I'm hoping that Jagex will at least give an incentive to train against monsters your level, aside from just making it bad to attack things that are 30 levels lower than you. Like maybe an XP boost if you're attacking something 10 levels higher than you.
And perhaps an increased chance of gaining loot for killing creatures around your level.
Yeah that'd be good. Hopefully enough people give feedback to Jagex about it through beta that they do something like that.
Grotworms are pretty decent money by the way.

The combat update sounds pretty awesome overall IMO. The combat level calculation needs to change though or it's going to be awful.
I want to get pretty good at PVP, it looks like it's going to be really indepth in what we can do. Might actually be fun :P
I've just realised, an argument for the new combat level formula.
So it takes into account your highest stat out of range/mage/strength/attack plus your defence. But it doesn't take into account your prayer, constitution or summoning.
But if you think about it, generally people have whatever creature they want to use summoned before a fight anyway, otherwise they waste time summoning it.
You will be able to see all the prayers that your opponent is using while in combat thanks to the new status window, which will show all of your debuffs and buffs and all of your opponents debuffs and buffs.
And with all armour sets boosting max life points, constitution doesn't really make that much difference.
The only real argument is towards people that have high strength but low attack (or vice versa), but the only people they are limiting are themselves.
Combat level isn't there for you to show off, it's there to give other players an idea of how strong you will be in combat.
I just logged in... combat beta contract in inventory. Gah, members only. Not interested spending even a cent on this game anymore.
I would like to actually participate in PvP and hopefully get good at it with the new update. My only problem is funds, so I'm probably going to spend a large amount of time in safe PvP activities until I start earning good money some how.

Even if you were a member, the sign-up period is over so you'd only be able to get in on weekends.

Not a lot to do with Slayer points after you got everything you need anyway.

Play it lots for me :(
I turned on a live stream of someone playing the beta, but he was just constantly complaining about lag. Now I have to wait until the 7th to have a go at the beta combat.
No more overload boosting. RIP Level 94 herblore
Really?
yup
[editline]26th June 2012[/editline]
you now need 96 herblore to drink a overload
its true

also 10452HP wearing full pernix and firecape
Been watching some streams of it, it's really laggy at the moment it would appear. I don't know if that's just because the people I'm watching are streaming or if it's that bad for people playing it without using their internet for anything else.
I got into the beta and holy fuck is lagging.
so they removed Special attack...... what will the enchanted excaliber sword do?
