Ahhh! i don't know if I should wait for PC, wait for collectors edition online, or drive to gamestop right now and get the game!
(urgh)
Well, central Boston was fully freed by sabotaging the fort and taking it over. I just discovered a fort in the south of Boston, so perhaps when I take that over, south Boston will be free and I gain a new assassin.
Thus far I was unable to find anything in the north district, there is nothing at all.
Also does anyone feel that all the crafting and trading system is simply not worth it, it takes so much time and the profit is really low. Even with products such as ship masts. Although I like how money is a lot more scarce now.
Trading is ridiculously easy to make money.
Buy Bear Skins, beaver Skins and Wolf Skins from the Hunting section. Send them on a trade route to Boston, you get around 20k every 10 minutes.
i timed it. the exposition (from when the game starts to when connor puts on the assassin robes) is 4 hours long.
the game took two afternoons and half a weekend morning to get to the actual game.

Jesus fucking christ. Is the story even that good to be worth that much time before anything assassin related actually happens ?
Anyway, personally I consider the second one the best of the series, so is this one better than 2 ? They seemed to have changed a few things there and there but a lot of it seems to be the same. How is the combat ? Is it harder than revelations or brotherhood ?
this game is amazing it was worth it even if it slogged a bit. the first part shows off how much more awesome the game got and i might have just sucked getting used to the new controls and other aspects.
In fact, here's my question : is the game different enough from the 4 previous iterations of the franchise to be worth 60€ (aka $77), the regular price for big PC titles in France ?
I've been honestly really fed up with brotherhood and revelations, they got me insanely tired of the franchise. Is this game good enough to actually rejuvenate it, or is it another revelations type of game with the same flesh and different skin ?
It's very similar, but is much more polished control wise imo, though I think that climbing has become easier and easier as the series has gone on, from Altair and the having to actually cimb around buildings to get a good grip to the ability to pretty much haul ass up anything by just holding r1 and charging it in AC3 (might be too easy?). The fighting's also changed, and is pretty good, but it's very easy to do and pretty systematic, as ever.
I've liked it so far (7 hours played so far), and I prefer Connor to Ezio by far as a personal opinion. (Ezio was just a bit too flamboyant and open for me, though he got more mature as the series went on) The progression is a bit dodgy, and the game is really easy so far, I got to the (not really a spoiler, just an event) [sp]Boston Tea Party[/sp] but it's certainly fun.

Thanks, guess I was trading the wrong products then. I need some serious dosh.

Believe me, this game is completely different. It still has the same concept, but everything is new. From the setting, to the animations and characters. The graphics look also much better, the combat system is reminscent of the previous titles but it is a lot more dynamic and fluid than ever before. Also the world is really huge and there is tons of stuff to do, many sidemissions and quests. Also hunting is a big part. You can explore the frontier and collect stuff.
Also there are many new additions, this game does not feel like a rehash like the previous titles.

They announced that event in a trailer so it's not that big of a spoil. It was pretty obvious it'd be there too.
Thanks to you and Junker for the precisions on this. I really wish they'd make climbing and fighting harder, it was way too easy in the previous games, especially in Revelations with that hook bullshit. But hey, it's only a little part of the game, a big portion of these titles are about immersion.
I've heard the Desmond parts are really bad though.
[sp] I wish I could have actually fought the Kraken [/sp]
I have to say that the fighting got a bit tougher, enemies swarm you and can cause severe damage if you cannot get away. In my playthrough I had several times where I was really forced to run away, I never had that in the previous installements. Also if you have notoriety level 3, your life will be difficult. I actually like that a lot.
Also I really enjoy Desmonds parts.
the whole thing about sequence three
seriously don't click this unless you've beaten sequence.. 4 actually just to be safe i don't remember.
[sp]how could you not see that coming when he dressed and acted as he did, once even appearing with the enforcer from multiplayer's blade. also the assassins refer to their organization as a brotherhood, not an order. i think that's what gave it away the most, also never being referenced as being a part of the brotherhood[/sp]
[SP] Connor's dad is so cool. Shame he's "a bad guy" though. I mean he's the "least dickhead" Templar in the whole series. [/SP]
Also, imagine my surprise when I saw Finnish subtitles.
"Parempi työskennellä usein kynnetyllä pellolla"

That sounds fun. Can't wait for the PC release.
I really like Connor as a character, and I'm glad they chose not to make him a full blooded american. His apathy towards the colonists and their cause is pretty cool, the fact that all he really wants to do is protect his people and their way of life. Then you realise the horrible irony of it all since once the colonists finally overthrow the British they will eventually try to exterminate the natives.
Got my ass handed to me by Jaegers. Multiple times.

I kind of dislike that he has no affiliation towards one of the sides, although that is only a personal thing. I like belonging to a group.

I honestly believe they went a little overboard with this seeing how whenever anything bad happens to his tribe he just sort of gets angry for a bit and continues like nothing happened. Although I suspect his neutrality is just because Ubisoft doesn't want to alienate American or British audiences by having him on a specific side for most of the game. Honestly I myself prefer Ezio just because there is an actual progession of who he is over the course of his storyline. Conner though just kind of bumbles along yelling at things usually with an odd monotone voice with no real interest of what happens to anything other than his people. Also he comes off rather arrogant seeing how he is always arguing with the person who saved his life and trained him and even comes down to threatening to beat him up at one point.
I'm kind of disappointed at the lack of jumping puzzles, like they had in 2, Brotherhood and Revelations. Also, is it just me, or does Conor seem a lot... larger than Ezio or Altair?

You mean the ones to get the armor and stuff in the previous games? They're still there, they're just not as big.
On a side note, I thought the tunnel network thing for unlocking Fast Travel stations was an awesome idea.
Fuck those underground sewers, I seriously for the love of god heard things and whispers. It didn't help that I knew there was slight chance of creepy shit going down with the giant octopus from AC 2
how do you dye armor? i'm nearing the end of sequence 7 and i still haven't figured it out yet
I've heard a few people complain about the, apparently, really slow and boring start of the game.
But does the rest of the game make up for this?

general store
damn it i forgot about the general store
so guys I have the choice of fixing my xbox and buying controllers and shit for it for anywhere from 60-100 bucks using gift money from relatives, and then renting AC3 for a few days from blockbuster for 10 bucks and beating it in those few days.
Orrr... I could wait until the 20th or whenever it is coming out on pc and buy it on steam for 50 bucks and use mouse and keyboard to play.
agree for fixing xbox disagree for pc
or y'know just reply with your opinion; kindof indecisive and thought why not post it here.
That damn horse

Anyone done the 'find and kill bear in cave' hunter mission? I'm in the cave and don't know how to lure the bear out :(

I actually enjoyed the start of the game. Infact, I'd say I enjoyed sequences 1-3 more than the following and I'm on 7 now.
God damn that [sp]plot twist at the end of Sequence 3[/sp] got me good.
