AC3 for some reason didn't change that. When you assassinate your target you can't skip their dialogue. I'm not sure if AC2 did it as I haven't played that in a long time.
You could never skip assassination cutscenes, as far as I remember.
The issue with AC1 is mostly that you can't skip ANY of the cutscenes, and some side missions involve you sitting on a bench for 2 minutes while you listen to some guys talk. Sometimes, some dude will do his public speaking, then when you sit down his speech will reset and you'll have to listen to the same audio file twice in a row before you can finally follow him and question him. And if you fail, you have to listen to the whole thing all over again. Your assassin colleagues who gave you hints and shit were the worse because failing their tasks was quite easy and they kept talking and talking when you tried again.
Like, there are so many bad things about it, I'm actually surprised it wasn't panned entirely and made it to a sequel. I'm playing it purely for the fact that I can't start a series without playing them in order.

Back when it was first released, the game was a blast. The devs were just out of the Prince of Persia series and they sure knew how to hype people for their game.
Plus, the whole "it's people looking at the past through DNA memory" twist was only revealed right before launch, and most people did not even know about it until they actually played the game. I think the only clue that was ever given before the game was released was a series of concept art showing various characters flashing at very high speed while a dev was talking, one of them being a modern time character (the white beard scientist that directs the experiment in the first game, can't remember his name). And you could only see him for one or two frames.
The game sold really well regardless. Ubisoft obviously asked for a sequel, and to be honest the second one was just amazing in all aspects, an actually good sequel with every possible thing in the game improved. Then they said they'd stop making games and take a big break until Assassin's creed 3, but then came out Brotherhood and Revelations, which in my opinion did AC3 way more harm than it did good.
It would appear that you can now pre-load.
Why did they keep a weapon selection thing designed for D-Pads, seriously ?
When will they learn ?

Also is it just me or is the player's voice a bit weird ? It sounds robotic.
Depends. Do you mean Conor's or the tutorial's. I thought the both sounded pretty good but Haythem was really well done. Felt like I was watching one of those triple A movies of the 1770's like Patriot or Last of the Mohicans. Yes I know Mohicans was the F&I war
so basically i've streamlined my inventory because fighting with your fists is to fun, the tomahawk (the war hatchet is way better and cooler looking than the assassin hatchet) is badass and so is fighting with the hidden blade. only problem being with an axe or sword, a "main weapon" taking up one of the quick slots i'd always have to go into that cumbersome menu that paused the game. so i did away with normally carrying a main weapon altogether. the only thing it really does is streamline your outfit and hotkeys, but considering i've beaten the game and all the important side quests it's much a bigger deal cause from now on in this profile i'm just going to be killing guards and shit.
with the war tomahawk you can be even more effective than with the cavalry sabre or whatever the best sword is. i carry axes that i pick up, i never really have a "long" weapon like an axe or a sword on me. and the only function of using axes is that they're useful for killing hard to kill enemies because you can one shot anyone at the cost of losing an axe.
the best part about that is if you don't have any extraneous shit on your uniform. with Achilles's outfit minus a "main weapon" connor looks fuckin slick as hell and there's no clipping at all. it looks very streamlined and much more functional than the normal robes, which have all these ribbons and shit things could get caught in.
personally i think the original robes look like ass compared to achilles's suit. plus those strap boots... so fucking awesome.
i dunno about you but i don't think a sword, axe or club belongs in anyone's inventory if you have the war tomahawk. unless you like fighting with swords a lot.
Is there any way to up the saturation in Ass creed II? I'm really tired of the near-black and white graphics, they really make the game uglier than it needs to be.
Just started my way up with AC3. So far loving it a lot, it's a hell of an improvement over AC2, both storytellingwise and gameplay.
[sp]That twist with Haytham actually being a Templar [/sp] :v:

Ehhhhh not really. AC3 lacks in a lot of things that the other ACs had. Something about it just feels... wrong about it. Gameplay wise yes it is an improvement (except the 1 button sprint, that shit is stupid as hell). Story telling wise it's definitely not better than AC2.

Yeah Haythem's voice actor put a lot of effort. Connor's english voice actor... not so much. He has no expression in his speech and has pointless expressions when they shouldn't be. For example when General Putnam gives his famous speech, Connor sounds like he's negatively judging it instead of trying to find the words to describe it. His facial expression also adds to it.

The tutorial's. Conor isn't anywhere in the video the guy posted.
Would someone with a PS3 copy of this kindly type out or upload a picture of the controller layout? I got this for PC, but I've played every single other AC game on my PS3, and I still feel like this is a game that I need to play with a controller, so I want to use my PS3 controller on this, but I don't want a crappy button layout (or an xbox layout, which seems to be default for PC games sometimes).

Awesome, you rock!
Can anyone tell me what playing an Ass Creed game on PC is like? Is it funky? What are the regular keybinds?
I know I'll be playing it in a few hours, but I'm excited and just want to know more before then.
Has anyone here played the PC version yet? I've heard a lot of reports that the game runs like crap even on beefy computers (less than 20 FPS in cities).

Runs about the same as Revelations.

I can confirm that it's laggy as shit for my PC, at least.
Can't get more than 15 FPS when looking at the bigger part of the map. When I'm looking at the smaller part or looking at the ground I get 60 FPS.
Has anyone announced that the preload is available yet? Because it is.
So, will there be assassin's creed 4 or something like that?
15GB or so for those who wonder.

yes
Are the "4 bonus missions adding an hour to gameplay" with the deluxe edition on pc the same missions that were supposedly ps3 exclusive? Because my copy for the ps3 says the same exact thing.
It's out on steam!
Geforce 610.61 Beta drivers improve the hell out AC3 performance according to this article, installing them now.

FUCK YEA!
Homestead missions reappeared at the end-game for me somehow. That's so damn nice...
Left it installing for 3 hours, came back and it's 5% done

You had me surprised for a moment, its 310, not 610 :)
Game runs like hot garbage once I get into Boston, tried the latest beta drivers from ATI (12.11 beta 8) and it made no difference. All I need is to disable AA and I'm sure it will run smooth but of course they don't have a way to turn it off.
Gotta wait for a patch if and when they decide to release one. In the meantime I'm gonna go play at 20fps until I loose my shit.

i've been having this too and this seems to be mostly a problem to those with AMD cards. i've heard people with crossfire setups are having around 20 FPS in the city areas, yet people with GTX 680s are playing at around 50 FPS most of the time
