I'm really regretting my purchase of this game. The story and gameplay is fine but the performance sucks so hard it's beyond belief.
I'm running a 670 FTW with a 3570k CPU and I'm getting absolutely abysmal performance, so much infact that I had to crank down the resolution from 1080p to 720p just to get some semblance of fluidity. It's shit.
Hopefully they'll patch the game enough so I can justify my deluxe edition purchase but as of right now I'm not a happy dude.
I've got a 670 and im running this fine, 60 FPS at all times except in boston where I get 40-50. I can run with high AA aswell but i dont since my gpu goes hot as fuck with it on.
Am I the only one with no real troubles with performance?
I have 560ti and can run it fine on high, I get some framerate drop when in boston / new york though
So, does anybody know which soundtrack plays when you [sp]chase and assassinate Braddock?[/sp] I've been looking for it for hours now and I can't seem to find it.
I can't decide if I like Connor's voice actor or not, it's perfectly fine when he's doing something serious but when you're doing something like the Homestead missions, conversations where he shouldn't really sound like a moody teenager all of the time, he just sounds kind of awkward, as if the delivery wasn't quite right.
I felt as if that was just due to his awkwardness speaking out of his native tongue (EG it fits with his character)
I got one of the funnies glitches I've ever had in AC3(I haven't faced much, though):
Before stroming the fort in NY, I called in my recruits to "escort me" and of course I got the green-colored indicator, since I am "hiding". I get past couple guards, and I notice bunch of guards running on my recruits in redcoats and start fighting them, but they don't notice me, and when I abandoned the disguise, my indicator still was green. I called in all my recruits, so my 6 recruits fought the guards at the entrance to the fort(it was closed). I could easilly kill every redcoat, and they didn't attack me! My indicator still was green. later on I entered the fort, killed the captain, blew up the armoury and noone even attacked me! My recruits had a huge fun killing guards, while I just sliced every guard I saw, because my indicator was green. changed the flag and fort is mine. Hell yea.
Later I wanted to strom another fort in NY, and was greatly surprised that the fort didn't had the "FORBIDDEN AREA - DON'T GET IN OR WE WILL SEND OUR TROOPS ON YA IF WE SEE YOU". The whole fort was free to enter and wander around as any spot on the map. I was wandering around in the templars-controlled fort like it was mime already!
Weird glitches, but I liked them.
P.S.: Royal pistol + dual thing-that-holds-pistol = four shots without reloading and one reloads counts for two shots. This is so damn epic.

I've had the first glitch happen to me before. Was awesome. The 2nd one however isn't a glitch. It exists on all the platforms. It's either a mistake on the devs part or bugged in general. It was the same on both my playthroughs.
I sorted out my performance troubles by copying my MP settings over the original SP settings. Sorted out my FPS and I'm running a constant 60 fps from a chuggish 30-50 with close no dips in Boston.
the cool thing is that there are no perfect characters, that's what most "omg ezio was coler" people don't get - the entire in-animus story is highly resemblent of a basic drama, you know, a theatrical one - all characters have traits and goals, but noone is a knight in shining armor and that's how it should be
I will disagree with you. Assassin wise, Ezio, Altair and Connor are perfect, its just the fact that the story shows us how they became what they became.
I have no idea why you think otherwise, but face the fact that pretty much everyone of them are killing machines with eternally best intentions in the long run.

If this will work, I am going to love you five-ever
Just a little thing I wanted to share. They added new feature that one of the hidden blades actually becomes a normal knife. I like Haytham's version much better than Connor's hunting knife (but truth is it fits Connor).

Huh? Connor has a hidden blade knife. He only has the combat knife when he's in his teens (before he actually becomes an assassin)
Actually it's a stone knife with a stone tomahawk.
Desmond has the combat knife.
still cant start the fucking dlc mission :(
do i need to beat all naval missions first?

You see it working a few times, the most noticeable one is when you go to skin an animal you've killed. His second hidden blade "ejects" and he uses it as a skinning knife. He also uses it as an additional weapon when fighting with the sword or a small weapon like a dagger or axe, and he wields it as a regular knife when he goes to [sp]stab Lee[/sp]
[editline]29th November 2012[/editline]
Also is it me or did the credits last longer than the entire ending sequence
[editline]29th November 2012[/editline]
Which wasn't very good, by the way. Honestly expected more than [sp]some dumb expository dialogue and a death that didn't really make any sense. It all felt so rushed its as if Nolan North's contract was coming to an end and they had to get rid of him quickly.[/sp]

I know. My point is it was shown multiple times before the game came out (and during the game) I was saying that he only has a combat knife when he's a teen. After that he has that ejectable hidden blade.
Now that I look at my post I didn't make it very clear.
Ubisoft also posted this a few days ago

That is fucking radical, to the point of almost being badical.

Holy shit page king is this I'm so sorry

You need to go into the Extras menu and enter your deluxe edition key.
at least they managed to not compact all the bullshit into the ending
now its evenly spread out through the entire game
My favorite part of the narrative is when you spend an entire memory sequence recovering stolen supplies by traveling thousands of miles away from the relevant region of the game.
Surely there were easier ways to replace some bandages and muskets.
If you asked me to list what I didn't like about AC3 I'd be here all day, but if you asked me if I liked it I'd say yes.
Also, is there a way to remove the skip cutscene popup in the corner? The cutscenes look great and I'd like to take some screenshots but PRESS E TO SKIP is pretty much constantly in the corner.

Ezio only grew on me by the time he got old
I was very disappointed with AC2's character design because they made it completely black and white
Ezio was too much of a goody two shoes McCoolDude playboy and the Templars were Team Rocket level bad guys
Ezio is cool because they tell you he's cool, Connor is cool simply because he is
[editline]28th November 2012[/editline]
I prefer his deadpan straight-man comedy role too
Actually chuckled a few times during the game, especially when he showed his general cluelessness during the Homestead missions

I preordered the regular edition though.
I preordered the regular edition though.
I'm pretty sure it's only included in the Deluxe Edition, at least on PC.
I just did the one trinket mission for Captain Kidd [sp]Where you travel to the northern passage and board the Octavius ghost ship and collect the map fragment - It's a crazy ass mission! The level of detail is epic![/sp]
Also, today I found myself just sat listening to the music that plays on the main menu screen. Anyone else got any favourite songs from the OST?
I realise there's a few different edits of the Main theme but I think that the original is the best. (I'm assuming this is the original)
I'm actually pretty impressed with the OST as a whole, though.
Connor's Story has a better build up

lol I like how the last real mission is [sp]a stupid scripted chase sequence and the optional objectives require you to make a perfect run and hope random AI doesn't bug out. Restarted it 10 times then just quit[/sp]. Really is the capstone on one of the most horrendously poorly designed video games I've played in a good long while. Shame really, AC2 and Brotherhood were high-points this generation for me and AC1 was the only reason I got a console in the first place.
To be entirely honest, the best thing about this game storywise is Haytham. And templars not being completely evil except for few of them.
And back to my ejected hidden blade comment. Connor's one look similar to this:

While Haytham's has it's own unique shape.
guys
many of you don't understand, Connor's left hidden blade is pivotable, it never detaches

It detatches endgamespoilers[sp] he lays it on the table when he meets Lee for the last time. http://puu.sh/1vAkm[/sp]
Wonder when Ubisoft will fix the alternative outfit colours not showing up during cutscenes.
The highlights do show.
My reaction to AC3's movement system pre-final mission: "Mmm... moves like butter. I like this."
Final mission: HOLY SHIT THIS PIECE OF SHIT ASFDADGBD
