[QUOTE=Fat-Corgi-Guy;39147579]A bit like this? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/m3k1B.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/P6qf0.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/niNdU.jpg[/img_thumb][/QUOTE] Wounds don't glow like that. Maybe make it a bit more blue like it'd be after you get hit or smth.
[QUOTE=tratzzz;39154289]Wounds don't glow like that. Maybe make it a bit more blue like it'd be after you get hit or smth.[/QUOTE] Glow? It's not glowing. I'll try and make it look bruised a bit though.
I'm a merge murderer!
I experimented with the dirt a bit more, and I also added a stronger phong map to it to try and make it look sweaty. I think I have to tone it down a bit though. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/r8JxL.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/QjpOJ.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/jYKUT.jpg[/img_thumb] [editline]2013[/editline] Cut looks less fresh now, I'll try and make it look more recent, unless people don't want me to.
Put the dirt layer into the phong exponent mask.
Might want to tone it down a bit on the ears, they look more like they're covered in oil than sweaty. Everything else looks pretty sweet though. I can't remember where but in some game there was a character with sweat streaming down his forehead sort of like this: [IMG]http://www.stopsweatingtips.net/wp-content/uploads/how-to-stop-sweating-face.jpg[/IMG] It's not really necessary but you might try experimenting with this sort of thing to make the sweat more believable. It'd be fine to leave it as is though, it already looks great.

I feel like the dirt on his face should look a bit more speckled though, because at the moment it looks like he rubbed it on himself. [IMG]http://media.townhall.com/Townhall/reu/d/2011\160\8fdfccb4-61f0-421f-bb36-e6dba8c1e3df.jpg[/IMG] The way it's sort of patchy and not so evenly distributed around his face. And bear in mind that's a picture of a firefighter after getting out of a burning building. I think if some parts on Barney's face were darker, while some spots had no dirt on it at all, it'd look a lot better. That's just me though.

[QUOTE=Marbledemon;39145679]Alright guys, I did some concepts for the coast by sketching around on the HL2 map overview, please post your criticism or further ideas. The image is about 12 mb with a resolution of 8300 x 5700, so click here to view it. I'd recommend to download it (right click > save as), so you can zoom in on the details. edit: fuck dropbox. [URL="http://www.mediafire.com/?wf0atgvbyocy1aw"]Mediafire zip[/URL] As we're probably goign to remake the skyboxes, I also some suggestions/ ideas for the coast. I always loved it's atmosphere, the desolated feeling, the overcast and dull sky, and I'd love to improve this setting even more. Here are some images kinda describing what I mean: Some distant thunder, the chilly wind howling between the cliffs, seagulls, their screeching taken away by the wind... The waves splashing against the cliffs, omen of the upcoming autumn storms... The Dear Esther Remake just captured this mood, and I'd love to reproduce it in Half Life.[/QUOTE] Where the road ends just prior to the train bridge, would it be a good idea to have the road continue up the cliff and over the bridge, somewhat like this? [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a6/Sarah_Mildred_Long_Bridge_Train.JPG[/t] It would tie in nicely with the road on the other side too: [img]http://www.visualwalkthroughs.com/halflife2/highway17/72.jpg[/img] And it would make chicken with the razor train more claustrophobic. Obviously the road would need to be damaged so the player is forced to complete the bridge sequence, so maybe just a dirt road leading from the highway down to the houses? A second observation is NLO. What is it? Given it's a fairly large accommodation with a garage, breakwater, jetty and nearby boathouse, I'm thinking it's a small hotel or summer home, so should it have a car park? This in addition to highvoltage pointing out the highway running through it. Lastly, with regards to Ravenholm, I'm fairly sure some buildings can be seen behind Black Mesa East if you stand on top of the dam Finally finally, how about adding a small map of the coast to the buggy's dashborad?
[QUOTE=Fat-Corgi-Guy;39156626]Ooook, didn't turn out so well.... [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BRUHe.jpg[/img_thumb][/QUOTE] Eh, it looked good in my head. Maybe you could try adding the drops to the diffuse aswell but iunnoman
[QUOTE=Sie-Sveinhund;39157942]Maybe combine the alpha changes with some changes to the diffuse?[/QUOTE] I don't think the face needs to be brightened up, it's the same brightness as this one: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/NF0vv.jpg[/img_thumb] The sweat in the previous pic is also just a phong map edit, not an actual texture edit, meaning it's not actually lighter, it's just shinier than the base texture. Though I think I might just stick with what it was before i added the 'sweat streaks'. [editline]2013[/editline] My 360th post is about sweat...
[QUOTE=Sie-Sveinhund;39157942]Eh, it looked good in my head. Maybe you could try adding the drops to the diffuse aswell but iunnoman[/QUOTE] I think adding the drops to the diffuse would work. Because the light would make the droplets look better, so treating them as actual droplets in the diff map would work. [editline]9th January 2013[/editline] [img]http://i.imgur.com/jYKUT.jpg[/img] this looks amazing by the way so if you can't improve it just stick with this
I've updated my edit of the map again: [url]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/34886768/HL2_overview_Edit.zip[/url] Its just getting messier it seems
[QUOTE=Fat-Corgi-Guy;39156626]Ooook, didn't turn out so well.... [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BRUHe.jpg[/img_thumb][/QUOTE] Work on the white drops. Make them look thicker, interesting direction I have to say though.
[B]More or less the final version now, I think.[/B] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ixub4.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/biVuT.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/DDc1Z.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/CcosR.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/FkEqX.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/rMOZO.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qtAtL.jpg[/img_thumb] I kept the sweat streaks, but made them a lot less shiny.
I still think the ears are way too shiny but otherwise that is some amazing work right there.
[QUOTE=Sie-Sveinhund;39159720]I still think the ears are way too shiny but otherwise that is some amazing work right there.[/QUOTE] Fixed, though I don't think it warrants new pictures.
lol that metropolice uniform looks so out of place with his new texture
[QUOTE=Bloodshot12;39160258]lol that metropolice uniform looks so out of place with his new texture[/QUOTE] Yea, model and texture quality now looks extremely low.
They need a modeler then they'll focus the body.

Lingering smoke like fear with those quality particles would be amazing.
[QUOTE=Bloodshot12;39161970]Lingering smoke like fear with those quality particles would be amazing.[/QUOTE] It gets surprisingly laggy. [editline]woop[/editline] [t]http://static.glitchvid.com/mesg/dacorgi/img/bw055_nrmcube.png[/t] 3 down, 3 more to go.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but are you guys going to actually add a functioning scope to the crossbow, like BMS's? And those particle effects look sweet btw
