It's clearly on Mars.
Wait, its not set place in the Caribbean?
no, the signs obviously indicate its in australia...
With what? That it is cold or custom maps?
It was just a tiny suggestion because I think you guys are doing a good job and that it would be nice to see what you could do with your own story.
My comment was in response to the start up of all this "Half-Life 2 is here. No wait it's there." which happened on the first thread, albeit this time it's done jokingly (and sarcastically). Also my post was meant to be sarcastic...
On another note, I would love to make my own mod with it's own story and setting, but this is also the first time I've ever done a mod, so I thought this would be a fairly simple, yet demanding project to do.
Sarcasm via text never works well.
Agreed.

Oh I'd love to help, you need an ideas guy, right?
If it was in australia the whole game would be upside down and all headcrabs would be dingos.
Yeah it can't be Australia, the wasteland is too safe.
It obviously takes place in nazi France.

If it was in Australia, the wildlife would have overpowered all the aliens by now
What the fuck did I start.
If it was in Australia, the wildlife would have overpowered all the aliens by now
If it was australia, the combine probably would of buggered off because of the heat
If it was in australia it would be a surfing game.
But sea maggots.

So...why are you making entirely redesigned combine and rebel models, and not "enhancing" the default ones like what the point of this mod is supposed to be?
Am I the only one who thinks those bulky combine look kinda goofy?
Am I the only one who thinks those bulky combine look kinda goofy?
they look like personal flotation devices
So...why are you making entirely redesigned combine and rebel models, and not "enhancing" the default ones like what the point of this mod is supposed to be?
I will be 'enhancing' them, yes. Those pictures were just from previous work I've done to show that I had the capabilities to do so. I continued to work with that Combine model so that I could show that I had the ability to update previously undesirable work. :v:
I will be working on the Metrocops soon enough, one of the things I'm going to do is re-uv map them since to my mind especially in areas such as the boots and the skirt area the current UV doesn't allow for greater detail.
Can I ask why there are things like Houndeyes in this mod, I know you want your own direction, but I would prefer it if you guys didn't stray too far from the original. By all means be creative, but I love HL2, and I love the look of this mod. I would hate for me not to play this mod because it's not the proper HL2.
I honestly would like to see Snood's combine models he posted earlier (or modified versions of them) in-game, as some type of randomized soldier equipment to add more variety.
I honestly don't think that not having every single detail as an exact replica of HL2 in higher quality would be detrimental to the mod.
Obviously things like Cinematic Mod completely miss the point of everything about HL2 and are generally ridiculous turds in dire need of a flush down the toilet, but there's nothing wrong with a little change in good taste.
since they already have a different kind of uniform in Nova P, if it's possible i think it would be neat if the city soldiers, the wasteland soldiers, the citadel soldiers and the NP guards all had different uniforms and equipment
with randomized gear bodygroups for variety
[editline]15th January 2013[/editline]
kinda defeats the point of the Combine being capable of manufacturing extremely versatile equipment but it would be neat
it won't be original half-life 2 but it will basically be the same base game.
why are people afraid of change?
^Especially when it's only slight change for the better.^ This way you're not playing the same game over and over.
i have a question that may or not be related to the mod
fat corgi guy
are you male, female or a shemale?
i must know
(User was banned for this post ("Trolling / off-topic" - MaxOfS2D))
Just make the Combine use different skins for different areas of City 17 and other places
Or change the skin every chapter

he's a fat corgi
I sorta disagree with having all the different uniforms. I've always seen Overwatch Soldiers as general purpose infantry, stationed in the Citadel. Therefor their uniforms are their citadel uniforms, and they are the standard uniform of the Sector 17 Overwatch. There was originally going to be another kind of uniform, the green one, but that never happened, so we don't know what branch they were supposed to represent (personally I think they were Sector 16 or Sector 18 soldiers sent over to try and make sure nobody interfered with the citadel transmission).
However, I do think it would be a good idea to give the Helicopter Pilot a slimmed down uniform. He doesn't need a big buffy vest when he's in an armoured helicopter, and something that thick would only get in the way of flying.

I know you are just showing your abilities with this model. I wouldn't mind overwatch soldiers having different gear like this, although I'd prefer if they stayed true to their original look. For me it's the color scheme that bugs me, darker colors are cool, but I thought Combine not having them was unique feature.
As for adding this armor to some randomizer system I always imagined overwatch were manufactured like a military product so to be efficient they didn't have much variety. But I'd love to see some minor details on their uniforms to make it clear this one carries SMG or shotgun or AR2.
And I'd lose the helicopter pilot. Doesn't he drop out when the heli is critical and it still flies without him?

The guy who drops out is just the gunner. The pilot is still inside until it's destroyed.

The green ones that everyone dubbed 'skullbreakers' eventually became the Shotgunners seen in Episode 2 and later HL2 and Ep1 after their updates.
They were originally pictured in background art and in early episode 1 screenshots.
