Look at more eyes, people have different sized irises, their's look like the average size for most people. some people have smaller ones, and some people have bigger ones. Well you're semi-right - the original eyes for Barney don't work so great with your *new* skin, but the original eyes for Alyx are pretty much perfect. Really at the end of the day, the biggest issue I can see (christ the puns) with your new eye textures is they are simply too bright. This may not seem like too big a deal but it surprisingly is... The eyes are one of the things you look at the most on these characters as you're constantly studying their facial expressions during dialogue sequences, so it's extremely important to get this right. Now, maybe the new eyes are actually perfect, IF they weren't meant to be the same characters they've been all along. Simply changing the eyes to something like your new ones does a remarkably good job at breaking the past attachments to the characters. Short version : try keeping the high detail, but darken them as close as possible to what the original eyes were. This will have to be a fine balance to stack up against your newer skins and lighting.

This difference is most visible along the bottom eye lid, and especially near the tear-ducts. Eye-color: You've chosen a totally different eye color. Her eyes are no longer a dark hazel/brown like the originals, and instead you've made them hazel-blue. The size of her irises also appear to be smaller than the originals. This is a minor detail in comparison, but worth noting.
You guys also forget we(they? I'm so confused.) plan to add Subsurface scattering, which should do something similar to what you want Rimlighting to do. Also,the eyes being lighter could be because of the new shaders being used.

I think it's the high detail of the iris that makes it look lighter, since the side by side are nearly identical, albeit one is much nicer looking
You should probably make the veins and little lines on her lip a little less noticeable Right now they sorta look like a dick :v:

Something still pisses me off about it... Although I might've also been pissed at the old Barney. I don't remember. I think that what pisses me off might have something to do with the area [I]surrounding[/I] his eyes. He almost looks like the kind of guy who always wears glasses then he suddenly takes them off and looks like a new person
It used to look like he was wearing mascara, it still looks like it. But it looks way better now.

I hate to be the dude that comes out of fucking nowhere and picks shit appart, but hell. You've been very open to crits so far. The first thing I'm noticing in these new face textures is that there doesn't seem to be that much logical variation in skin tone. For instance, alyx's forehead has a strip of lighter tone going down her forehead (and the tops of her cheekbones and above the upper lip). It seems weird, but imo it sells the fact that it's a forehead and has the contour of a skull. The new one is pretty flat. She also needs a few large details like blemishes too. It looks like working at the higher resolution is kinda "scaring" you into squeezing the skin detail down. As weird as it sounds, she needs some larger blotchy details. I'd say everyone has the same thing going on, really. Breen's eyebrows are too pristine, too perfect, and too light. Barney's are too light as well, and he's a bit pink. I think he needs some longer facial hair covering less ground too. Everyone's eyelid folds (cept Alyx because she doesn't have any) are the correct shape as their originals but they don't come off as anywhere near as deep as they need to be, especially with Kleiner. Breen's mustache should be a bit wider and I think there's a bit more bare skin under his lower lip in the original. Kleiner's trademark dimples got nerfed. Alyx's are completely gone. It seems like you're afraid to go for the dark black creases too. There's a lot of places where you go red trying to keep the skin tone in the darker values when you should be desaturating. I'd also say everyone's eyes are too bright but you're fighting with people on that one so I won't go there. I'm sorry dude, I actually really like all of these and they are definitely going in the right direction. They're a shitton better than the other high rez attempts I've seen. Ugh, awaiting crosses and boxes.
