On the topic of combine in general, would it be possible to make the soldiers and elite's glowing eyes sputter out like a couple of seconds after they die? That would be a pretty neat effect.
You know, I can kind of see what that guy was talking about earlier. The original's iris was blurier than the new one.
We went over this already- the original eye was blurry because it was 64x64- mine is 1024x1024. The reason for mine being that big is due to the extreme close-up of his eye in the beginning sequence. Just because an eye texture that was 64x64 is blurry when enlarged, does not mean the new one HAS to be blurry.
Okay, sorry for not reading every single post in this thread.
Sorry if that came out angry- it wasn't supposed to be. Though I'm starting to wonder, did anyone read the OP? Specifically the BIG RED LETTERS? Or is it just stupid to have them?
Make the metrocops have even more soulless eyes. Make them black holes, that wsuck unsuspecting citizens and loose debris in.
It would be cool if more of the buildings in ravenholm had visible damage from the headcrab bombings. Like, clear holes through multiple levels of an apartment complex and shit. It would look great with Alien Swarm's deferred volumetric lighting. Fuck, that whole level would...

Here's the enlarged version of Alyx's original eye that you posted earlier. Compared to the Gman's-
I'd say not "blurry" as much as "foggy". The eye was dulled a bit for some reason.
OK, let's make everything like what it was supposed to be so there's no mod at all.
We're sort of contemplating on whether or not the blurriness in the G-man's eye was intentional, not if we like low resolution textures.
Its not blurry, the pupil isnt a perfect circle like a normal eye, look at it its all jagged and weird.
I'm scratching my head a little here. Is it really going to bother anyone that G-man's HD eye, that you will barely ever see that closely, is not 100% faithful to the HL2 texture? Are you going to load up the mod, see G-man's eye, notice that it isn't blurred, and respond with "fuck this shit" ?

Compared to the Gman's-
Eyes are weird things. Some people have intricate light catching designs while others' eyes are nearly perfectly smooth. [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/65/Eye_iris.jpg/250px-Eye_iris.jpg[/t][t]http://www.iridologyonline.com/iridology/filelibrary/loungefiles/IMG_0203.JPG[/t] Corgi's eyes are a more or less accurate depiction of the originals, and they will do just fine. I think this thread space is better used on other topics instead of something as miniscule as this.
Yeah, the eyes are all rad and sufficiently accurate.
The people going "The eye texture has to be identical to the original" really should just stop posting
I'm very surprised at how many posts about a single texture i've just read through.
To anyone bitching about Gman's eyes and it not being blurry like the original. Here is a side by side view of Valve's (the image people have been posting, 132x128) and Corgi's (466x375 shrunk down to 80x64 to match valves texture and scaled up to 160x128 to compare to the other image) Valves: Corgi's: What do you know, they are both blurry. It should be common sense that a very tiny image scaled up with look blurry and that a larger image will have more detail. Should the new brick textures be thrown away because they don't look as bad as the originals?
We're sort of contemplating on whether or not the blurriness in the G-man's eye was intentional, not if we like low resolution textures.
It isn't blurred; its a glowing effect, the same thing that Corgi did to G-man's new texture.
Half Life 2: Eye texture enhancement mod
Valves: Corgi's:
You know, that makes me notice something. In normal circumstances this doesn't matter at all, but since it's the G-man and he's got distinctive eyes, this might help a bit. The top of Corgi's texture has less of a shadow at the top, Valve's has some straight up blackness going on. Also, in Valve's texture the pupil has a much less defined edge than Corgi's. Valve's eye sort of has them blend together. It also looks like there's a lot more contrast in Valve's eye. I'm not saying this matters in my opinion, but that might be what's throwing some people off. Maybe you could try upping the contrast a bit and slapping a shadow on top and asking us what we think, just for comparison's sake? (plus, Valve's eye is a blueish teal, and Corgi's is a greenish teal. that may or may not matter)
Also, in Valve's texture the pupil has a much less defined edge than Corgi's. Valve's eye sort of has them blend together.
This is what I've been trying to say, but haven't been able to properly phrase it.
Eyes are serious fucking business guys.
I personally don't give a shit if the eyes are that close to the original, but I can see what the other guys are talking about, so I figured I should explain it a little better. I mean, the eyes gotta be pretty similar, they're the windows to the soul. You have eyes that are different enough, you'll be looking into the wrong soul.
This is what I've been trying to say, but haven't been able to properly phrase it.
the pupils are blurred there
the pupils are blurred there
*adjusts glasses* *squeakily* ahem, it's the pupil-iris border, Meatpuppet.
Version 18 of G-man's eyes. [tab]really[/tab] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/yPkNRHr.png[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/CoeuSk2.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/KbFZCXm.png[/img_thumb] I did not add the blacker top area on mine, as all the original eyes had that, and none of mine have it. It looks to me as if that just served as some sort of 'shade' for the iris. I'm also hoping this will be the last version, as I'm getting tired of staring at eyeballs, and I haven't gotten too much other work done for the mod recently.
Next thread: Half-Life 2: Enhancement Mod V3 - Pupil-iris border enhancement /Off-Topic I just played Tribes Ascend in a server with a guy named Meatpuppet, was that you?
I think that's delightful. Nice work.

I dunno if that's something you haven't got to yet or if that's how it actually looked in the original model.
