Two questions: 1) How do I go about acquiring the different language files for HL2? 2) Why don't you guys want the new enemies?
1)
Half-life 2 has full audio support for 9 languages, so all you would need to to would be to change the language of the game and steam will download all the audio files needed for you. Then its just a matter of copying any files you need to the mod and applying them where need be. It could be set up so the citizens sitting in the train station and wandering the city all have different languages. Like the the guy mumbling about the trains be doing so in Russian, or even go as far as adding a bunch more citizens and have groups all chatting in there own languages using what lines are available.
2) Probably because it's Half Life 2. Enhanced. It's not Half life 2 :Revised or :Revisited. To be honest, if there's any new enemy I want to see, I want to see more elaborate synths. Maybe some cut stuff beta or some 100% new stuff. The gunship, the strider, and that security cam with the claw aren't enough to sell what the Combine are. imo. Plus after all these copycat mods after BM's announcement trying to get the HL1 enemies updated into Source, the novelty has worn off. Still pushing for Sasha for Barney. If not for anything but a source for the facial goatee stubble.
would be interesting have these near the end of the game
Definitely, just sans spikes. I always liked the look of that synth sniper that I can no longer find a picture of :/

Look- I understand you're trying to please as much people as you can with this mod, and its great to be honest, seeing you tweak all those faces exactly to how the community wants it, its awesome. But its your mod, don't decide against adding in the enemies because a bunch of people here don't want them. Make it to your vision, because theres always going to be people who disagree with what you're making no matter what.
stuff
1) ok, thanks. 2) Adding new enemies isn't enhancing it? Houndeyes and Bullsquids are cut enemies from HL2. We are also hoping to add a crab synth into the street war as a boss. I would also like to see more synths, but I'm not sure how you'd really incorporate them. It's Sa-ch-a not Sa-sh-a, and he looks nothing like Barney Calhoun. Even his facial hair. [editline]24th January 2013[/editline]
I'm all for the new enemies. I'd say that new enemies would need to be in additional areas that aren't already in the game. Either on the main path or hidden in secret areas. The problem with new enemies is that not only might you make some too hard but you'd also need to rearrange healthkits/ammo for them.
Definitely, just sans spikes. I always liked the look of that synth sniper that I can no longer find a picture of :/
you mean this? it always looked a bit too Geth-y to me, never thought it seemed organic enough
Barney Update [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3a2WSeh.jpg[/IMG_thumb] How's it look?
That looks fantastic, as always.
he doesn't have the subtle dark circles under his eyes
he doesn't have the dark circles under his eyes
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IR965NM.png[/IMG_thumb] There, how's that?
His hair could be much greyer imo. Assuming he was of similar age as Gordon at the time of the resonance cascade, he'd have to be about fifty by the time of HL2, and living in a dystopian hellhole for twenty-odd years probably wouldn't be making him look any younger. But you might have just not moved on to that yet, so never mind if you're gonna work on it later.
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IR965NM.png[/IMG_thumb] There, how's that?
Make his hair color blu-ish and more gray.
the eyes still look too bright to me
Maybe we should chill for a sec. :T
Eyes| I don't know how many times I need to say this, but his eyes are darker in-game!!!!!!!!! Hair| I am not making it blue, or green like his old hair. Also, why are we having problems with the hair now, I thought you guys liked it??? His hair looks perfectly fine to me. My dad (55) only has a few (like 4) grey hairs. In my eyes, Barney's looks like he's between 40 and 50, probably no older than 50, and no younger than 40.
If they make the edits ill compile them if im given the stuff i need. Shouldnt be an issue on my system. You are just mocking your i7 right now with that GPU. On-topic though, people can't just decide if they like the new hair more or less. I say, keep it the way it is right now. Looks better than the blue/green old one. I think it was like that more because of the texture size limitations and had to be more pop-out than nice-look. Or something along that way.

That's great. His face is fine. perhaps you should alter his eyes though.(not the area round his eyes, his eyes)
Corgi, I can never understand why most of the pictures you take of Barney have a dead, soul-piercing stare. They look astonishing though.
Corgi, I can never understand why most of the pictures you take of Barney have a dead, soul-piercing stare. thats nice, but you should make his x more y
Laidlaw has stated that all the broadcasts are in multiple languages and that overwatch announcements and characters in the game's universe speak all kinds of languages with varying accents. It was only not added due to size and technical constraints due to all audio having to be precached into memory with the system they had at the time.
Well, my reasoning is that the voices in other languages don't have the same 'impact'. Combine Soldiers in the English version have distorted machine-like voices. In other languages, they just sound deeper and muffled slightly. Hence, Combine Soldiers should use the English version. In-game reasoning is that Breen speaks English (even to Advisors), so they should too.
2) Why don't you guys want the new enemies?
I don't, I like the idea. I was just looking into it to see if it were possible to simply delete an npc from the code without affecting the game. And it seems it may be, 2 versions might not be as hard as it sounds.
Those eyes pierced my soul and gave my life meaning. I can see into forever now. Thank you.

Remember that Half-Life was 20 years ago, and if he were a security guard at a research facility as important as Black Mesa, I'd imagine they wouldn't hire anyone much younger than 25. Also, some people's hair turns grey sooner than others. My friend's 18 and he has a patch of grey hair. My dad's hair started turning grey around his mid-40s, and one of my uncles had nearly white hair by the time he turned 40.
what's stopping you from just releasing the vmf files
I don't know about corgi, but most of the work I'm making for this mod is fine to use however you please. use it for whatever you want: and give credit if you feel like it.

As for hair, I was making the point that Barney could be one of those 'special people' who's hair doesn't turn grey until they're in their 60s. Not that everyone's hair didn't go grey until they were that old.
