All those light sprites are in there by default, but for some reason they all got amplified on the Alien Swarm engine.
It's part of the post processing stuff the Alien Swarm engine does. It's why half the maps in Alien Swarm are bright and fuzzy and annoying as fuck.
here it is should work okay have fun http://www.1337upload.net/files/2materials.7z
Was it actually confirmed that we are adding Bullsquids and the such?
The reason why I enjoy this modification compared to Fakefactory's mod is not only because of the terrible character models and un-canon approach to HL2, but it's also because he goes to the absolute extremes in some cases. His mod features a modified hl2.exe that allows more memory to be used as well as a lot of exaggerated work to make things eye-catching. [img_thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/559824352453662785/396D260D49129FDBDDDC41A6DE0BDAC476A47C5C/[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/cHg8a.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Z6Xugh.jpg[/img_thumb] A lot of these shots are like drinking straight up sugar in terms of "being cinematic". He goes in a nonsensical direction with his work. I mean, the first screenshot showcases a lot of random smoke that doesn't even add anything to the scene, the second one showcases asbestos covered walls plus a cliche game desaturation, and the third one shows a brutally stupid reflection across the tile. The people that enjoy these things don't want to consider HL2, they want flashy things even if it's at cost for the immersion. They want to fight in lens flares super HD Hans Zimmer "so real" shader gameplay in a way that Valve would never implement. If I am correct and you finish your work, your work will be sensible, eye-pleasing, and all-around better for the entire HL2 community than what Fakefactory is putting out. Your work will be sans the stupid, sans the unnecessary cinematic BS, and it will still look good.
Honestly I have to admit, I do like the third one, it looks like a dank wet basement.
On the grass/stones: The stones look marvelous. Whilst id say that dense grass would make the game look much better, grass falling over makes it look shit. Also make the grass look less healthy to better fit the atmosphere. On ravenholm. Turn down the light environment model the windows and doors obviously turn down the spotlights darken the sky.
let's make ravenholm very dark, it makes it creepier what
This will go good with Black Mesa.
For the love of god, please give Kleiner a different idle stance, I hate the way he stands, so inhumanely still with his hands in such a weird spot like that.
This will go good with Black Mesa.
i don't think you quite understand how modding works
i don't think you quite understand how modding works
I'm just saying that, if this gets released, it'll have higher quality textures. Like Black Mesa
Your work will be sans the stupid, sans the unnecessary cinematic BS, and it will still look good.
I still wouldn't mind a very very very subtle hint of lens flare/ lens dirt. Maybe a curved HUD like Halo 3+ to sell the fact that they're projected onto Gordon's glasses/ from his glasses into his eyes. I know it sounds bad because when people do this they usually go overboard, but it doesn't have to be overboard.
or palpatine
Kleiner is behind it all

Otherwise he'd have died from radiation poisoning from the Citadel core.
Don't start this. Don't make me do this.
I'm just saying that, if this gets released, it'll have higher quality textures. Like Black Mesa
You do know that BM's textures are as low-quality as the original HL2 textures? Or I should say, as low-resolution as the HL2 textures?
You do know that BM's textures are as low-quality as the original HL2 textures? Or I should say, as low-resolution as the HL2 textures?
They're still higher quality than HL1's.

I know it sounds bad because when people do this they usually go overboard, but it doesn't have to be overboard.
There's optional HUD lens dirt, at-least as of now. I don't think there's any plans to change the HUD too much: although a slight redesign might be helpful: I doubt it would be changed too much.
Even if you don't make a fancy HUD, i think the HUD should be changed a bit. IMO I always found the original HL2 HUD extremely boring, like everything just had a transparent slightly-darker box around every icon and set of values, it was just extremely dull, and it almost looked like it could have been photoshopped in. The HUD is definitely one thing I think you could drastically change in this mod and as long as it's not super fancy it would be for the better. At least change the crosshair, you can barely see that thing sometimes (maybe weapon specific crosshairs like HL1?).
I rather enjoyed the minimalist HUD of HL2, anything more would be intruding upon the game's unique style. Hell, I could go for no crosshair at all, would really sell the point of the first person perspective.

You know what I just realized? This is proof of Valve immersively-wry humor way before The Orange Box. This just makes me more frantic in looking for the source of that voice. Okay, that's enough of that.
I still wouldn't mind a very very very subtle hint of lens flare/ lens dirt. I know it sounds bad because when people do this they usually go overboard, but it doesn't have to be overboard.
Yeah, what I'm saying is they overdid it in the Cinematic mod, and the right way to go about these things is moderation. A slight amount of smoke in the first screenshot I posted might have been acceptable, but it's so dense that it makes me feel unconvinced - where is it coming from? Why is it so dense? It's just so out of place. In the second one, all of the changes he made makes it look almost unrecognizable to the original levels, and the desaturation is done to such an extent it's cliche. And in the third, (this was stated in the Fakefactory thread many times), it looks like Kleiner's spending more time waxing his floor more than actually working in that screenshot. All of these prevent me from suspending disbelief. If he brushed up on these ideas just slightly maybe they could have worked, but he's focused on the flashiness - not the game.
Ported Episode One content to the mod, and I found something funny: At the gun ship fighting scene, is there rain? Because there's rain when I play in the mod... As there's a rain cloud at the top so I think it used to have rain but it never shows up. Pretty sure the ash particles got replaced with rain for some reason.
There's no ash or rain in stock Episode One.
There's actually several Episode One maps that have that effect outside of Episode One itself. I remember making some poses on them back in my GMod days and being surprised by the rain. I had always assumed it had something to do with the ash, but if there's no ash on that map it just throws that theory right out the window.
