Are we talking about HL1 or HL2 here? In HL2 Gordon swings his crowbar at about 60 mph, with less than a second in between his swings. Unless you were really inept you wouldn't get chomped by a barnacle when using the crowbar. Though if it would take you too high up in the air, then I use a pistol, or the SMG as that seems to almost have the most ammo in the game.
SMG is the most common ammotype, followed by AR2 and Shotgun ammo respectively.
It'd be awesome if this project could be like an open beta, where we can play it as stuff gets added, and receive updates regularly

It would feel weird if one wall has a ton of high-res textures, then the others have low-res ones.
We will probably stick with the; "Maybe release "demo" of the train-station." idea.
Up to corgi though.
You remember the mods name?
No idea. It was one of those mods on ModDB with like only a handful of views and I remember it replaced the pistol with a Glock and that's about it. Horrible mapping with just as bad voice acting, but the scripted events were priceless, if not very well done. This was around '07-'08 because I remember it distinctively being an Orange Box based mod.
The hunt begins.
I had an idea that I think would add a bit to this mod.
Everywhere gordon goes, there's suit chargers. We never see combine or anyone else using them though.
Why not make a couple combine have an animation to charging something when gordon shows up?
Is it ever actually stated or implied that those chargers are for Soldiers themselves? I can't remember, I only ever remember Kleiner referring to them as "Combine energy outlets", and that he modified your suit to draw power from them. Aside from that, the charger itself isn't labled, except for the word "POWER" and some numbers. Seems it'd make more sense to actually see equipment hooked up to them. It'd be amusing to walk up to an outlet, unplug whatever it was being used for, and drain all the energy from it :v:
I always assumed Combine "Chargers" were just small general purpose wall mounted generators, and that the HEV suit was just extremely inefficient (it was modified in a basement to use a power source we are unfamiliar with, after all) and just sapped all the energy from them. When the Suit is 'infused' with Dark Energy, it handles the energy outlets much more efficiently, at least until the Dark Energy dissipates.

so basically it's a lot like Crank, only with less Jason Statham

Makes sense. Add the fact that the modifications were done with scavenged parts and scrap. But, Kleiner's mods caused no net loss or gain of power efficicency, since it still gets a max of 75 power from a full charger. Plus, when infused with dark energy, it augments the medical systems to heal Gordon as well as charge the armor. Kleiner obviously did something right.
One of the biggest downsides of prolonged HEV use is probably the morphine. Gordon is most likely a morphine addict by now.

Looks fucking awesome, would be awesome if your mod would have support for this.

I would really like this mod to have optional dead-zone aiming, but the VR tracking seems very unnecessary and overly ambitious.

What's wrong with Oculus Rift ? Seems like something what could be added once everything else is finished.

I mean it looks cool and all, but I don't know how many people even have an Oculus Rift. And remember, it's Enhancement, not Expansion - it just seems like something for a separate mod rather than forcing - you might even say crowbarring - it into this one.
I meant it as an option in the options menu to be able to use it. Otherwise you sometimes might need a really hacky way to add it etc.

Simple idea.
Also while Gordon use chargers he can use only one hand weapon without reloading.

I don't think those would be on his hands, I think it's more likely he turns around and plugs the back of the HEV suit up to a charger, or uses some sort of tube to connect them.
The HEV Mark V does have a port on its back that could be used for that:

R.I.P. Jump Expanion Module :(
About port on its back.
This port was in Half-Life 2 beta and we don't know about have the H.E.V. suit this port in release version. And this may was to be used for other tasks. But this your decide.
>some sort of tube to connect them
Lol, in my idea he use "sort of tube" under suit.
(Sorry about broken english.)
I mean it looks cool and all, but I don't know how many people even have an Oculus Rift.
Probably not a lot, considering it's not even purchasable yet.
Probably not a lot, considering it's not even purchasable yet.
I mean, I'm not entirely sure how many people will actually be able to buy one - it's still got a few problems, and I honestly doubt that enough people will actually be walking around their rooms wearing it that it'll be incorporated into this mod. Let's just save it for the other Oculus mods that will inevitably come out rather than putting it into this one, yeah? Doesn't really bare thinking about at this point.

No one's going to be walking around their rooms with it because it's only a headset, it's only a visual thing with head tracking, that's it. Using it isn't gonna be any more cumbersome than playing without it.

Uh, I would personally consider that an enhancement, considering how you would actually feel like in the game (kind of). Oculus Rift will come out in 2014 so it could just be added to the mod after it's finished.

Walking around? Eh...I'm not sure anymore if you know what the Rift actually is.
So you gfuys are using the ASW engine for this, correct? Any chance of you guys fixing the object motion blur?
So you gfuys are using the ASW engine for this, correct? Any chance of you guys fixing the object motion blur?
It works.
Just has some bugs relating to Z order.
I actually fucking love per object motion blur.
I actually fucking love per object motion blur.
After playing Planetside 2 and Crysis the last few days I gotta agree.
Since the wall chargers are meant to charge the suit, would it be possible to add an extra-hard difficulty that features the suit having its power drained, as if it's battery-powered? Like, every few minutes you just randomly lose a few HP from it, based on how much you do.
(That sounds like a bitch to code though, maybe more of 5 HP lost every 5 minutes)
This obviously wouldn't apply to normal health, just the suit.
It works.

Hence why I said fixing it. I would love to have properly working object motion blur in Source.
