Slightly off-topic but speaking of Alyx, it's just a little strange how she looks white in the new concept art: [T]http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb344/BlackMesaLegacy/AlyxVanceHL3conceptart_zps74d98503.png[/T]
If she's going to be in the Arctic maybe she's just cold or something. Wasn't she supposed to be white initiall because Eli wasn't her Father, but then they merged "Captain Vance" of the Conscripts with Eli so they probably made Alyx's Mom Asian as a handwave for her skin being light.
she looks pale, not white. Race is bone deep.
I don't see how some one who has a natural dark complexion, especially the same person prior who lost alot of blood being impaled by a Hunter, not having any sleep in god knows how long, not having any food and no water for days and still had her natural tan - rather than something that can mentally be traumatic like what happened at the end of Ep2 suddenly making her "pale". Perhaps I'm looking too much into this considering its just concept art (and one that might or might not be used as reference in HL3).
That's the reference I'm using. It's done, ish:
Main shaft looks too thin.
Main shaft looks too thin.
I'm guessing it's to look normal from the viewmodel perspective If you look at a world model the way you see it in first person, you get this stumpy thing
choad
Here's a comparison pic: As you can see the design I went for was a combination of the two with the addition of heavily referencing the 'real-life' one posted a page back. The reason for this is because I want to use the same model for both the view and the world. Ultimately this saves on texture size and of course, effort, as it means that I don't have to spend time creating two models when I can just make one and then rig it for different purposes. There's method in the madness. :v: As for other design choices, well, it's not finished and I also added my own 'artistic license' in spots.
Tbh, I really like the extended+thinner "barrel." It feels more phys'cannon' to me.
It doesn't even matter whether or not I'm actually in the sun. Besides, you made it sound like she changed ethnicity in that concept art. She only changed shade. I mean, her nose is different but that looks like either a discrepancy on the artist's part or a conscious decision... I mean why draw concept art of her face if it's not about to undergo a marginal change? Hell, maybe this new paleness is a result of them taking her lifestyle into account.
what's wrong with asians i love asian women
Eh, guess I worded my post wrong. What I meant was... the eyes seem smaller than in vanilla game. That could be just me though since that's only the skin and no work has been done to the model as far as I know. Just noticed this now in that screenshot. Never noticed that in the game itself. Weird.
what's wrong with asians i love asian women
what's with the dumbs, i can't love women apparently?
DIE CIS SCUM U TRIGGERD ME But seriously, back on the gravgun, I think both handles should be much larger. I kinda like her hair in that concept though. Maybe the revised model could sport some messier hair?

Unless you mean the area around the eyes (eyelids, eyebags, etc.) then if you look back a few pages, you'll see it's more-or-less the same size:
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/6mDEp3i.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I think the imperfections on her skin need to be more obvious, they seem almost nonexistent when compared to the original.
I think they made her irises huge on purpose.
I think they made her irises huge on purpose.
Everyone else has those big eyes too though, not just Alyx.
I've always been annoyed with how the Gravity gun's been held. It'd never look supported to me
Gravity Gun needs a harness.
I always figured it's fiddling with it's gravity mechanism stuff keeping the front part floating.
I've always been annoyed with how the Gravity gun's been held. It'd never look supported to me
I always felt like it needed a redesign with an underhand grip further up the shaft. Then again Half Life is the king of guns-you-can't-really-hold. The Tau cannon is just wat.
what's with the dumbs, i can't love women apparently?
Maybe it was creepy what you said.
Hey, is the team planning on making things like full body awareness and non-HL2 NPCs optional? I mean I support these things but if people ever want to do a clean playthrough, it would be cool to have a checkbox system a la Black Mesa (sprint, etc.) I mean, in this way you can cater to the requesters who want ironsights and stuff and the people who just want to play HL2 with enhanced graphics. Food for thought?
Small Update I tweaked the normal map a bit more. *pics* top row is zoomed in, bottom row is taken from as close as you can get to the player without zooming.
I think the normal map was better (I dare to say perfect) before, now it's almost back to perfect skin.
this may have came up before, but do you guys plan on using deviantpicture's barny and combine skins (or similar)? That Barney is terrifying.
I think the normal map was better (I dare to say perfect) before, now it's almost back to perfect skin.
Actually it's the same normal map as before, it just has a more detailed forehead now. It's just its intensity changes on the lighting, as it's on the normal map.

Most people who do "HD" skins for the characters usually just take a huge photo of a person and then try to align it to the model's UV map. The result is a person that looks nothing like the character it's supposed to be (see: Cinematic Mod 1-4, this reskin). Corgi, on the other hand, tweaks the photos to match the original character's features so they actually look like who they're supposed to be.
this may have came up before, but do you guys plan on using deviantpicture's barny and combine skins (or similar)?
Are you serious??? Did you read the OP??? Did you look at the pictures??? We are creating our own stuff, not using other people's stuff. Also no offense to DP, but his Barney sucks. It looks almost nothing like Barney Calhoun, and the picture you posted doesn't help, he looks like a monkey there. His Barney might have been a bit better too, if he hadn't used FF's Barney as a base for his face skin.
Maybe it was creepy what you said.
so it's weird for an asian to like asian women?
