imgur compresses uploads don't use it
And if you do use imgur use a high-quality .jpg otherwise you'll occur more loss when it converts .png to .jpg (That's if it converts stuff like other image hosts do)
She needs red streaks in her hair like the original
It's still there.
Use http://minus.com/ for uploads. Its a great site, up to 15 MB per file with 10 GB of free space, and they have their own thumbnails for linking.

oh, corgi
What about when you take the pictures in-game? Unless I use printscreen, it'll be saved as a compressed .jpg
you'll have to print screen and paste it in either gimp or photoshop, export it to png with compression level 9 ive never had imgur mess with it when i do that, but then again i havent used it in years [editline]18th February 2013[/editline] you should use filesmelt anyway

Because some of the models crash on Alien Swarm Engine, so I'll need to recompile them. Can anyone help me? Technically why the models crash: In newer engine branch, they changed the model files to use RLE encoding, and old models will create an engine overflow, and crash the game.
Ok, I REALLY hate to be the guy who brings up the eyes again, but this is just bothering me so much. First off, I want to say that I absolutely love the work you are doing, Corgi. But the thing about the eyes is that, while you are right that humans don't have irises that large, I think you might be sacrificing what makes Alyx look like Alyx. Here is a quick edit i did where I enlarged the irises slightly (and darkened them a little). IMO just doing that makes her look a lot better: [img_thumb]http://uppix.net/e/b/3/151ebf06b27712034b6448f33aa05.png[/img_thumb] I know I've never posted here before so I don't really think my opinion counts for much, but thats my 2 cents. Keep up the good work guys! also, here's more random editing of the above image: http://uppix.net/d/7/9/1bd4327b6b1323e0d3c3d883d9868.png
What about when you take the pictures in-game? Unless I use printscreen, it'll be saved as a compressed .jpg
the console command devshots_screenshot (or devshots_screenshots, one of those) will write a TGA into the screenshot directory you must bind the command to a key or it will screenshot your console & menu, from there either convert it using a program like photoshop, or compress/convert it using something like pngout commandline.
The eyes are fine now. They were huge in the original because the game didn't have any of the advanced shaders we have now, and they needed to make her seem "alive" as she is one of the pivotal characters in the game, and the one the player interacts with the most, and of course, the easiest way to do this is by enlarging the eyes (windows to the soul, etc). Doing that in addition to FCG's shaders is unnecessary now, and besides, it just looks weird. She looks like she's tripping hard on LSD or something.
What about when you take the pictures in-game? Unless I use printscreen, it'll be saved as a compressed .jpg
There is a setting that will allow you to save an uncompressed version somewhere whenever you screenshot. Steam -> Settings -> In-Game -> [_] Save an uncompressed copy outside of Steam Just check that and pick a destination.
What about when you take the pictures in-game? Unless I use printscreen, it'll be saved as a compressed .jpg
bind a key to devshots_snapshot in console and then press it. it will save the image as an uncompressed TGA which you can then convert to whatever filetype you like in GIMP.
oh, corgi
Ugh, sorry, it was 12 o'clock at night, I was trying to just get the pictures on here, didn't realize there's a difference in the links. :B [editline]2013[/editline] Ok, fixed the pictures. Scroll back up the page.
It looks absolutely perfect.
When you're done with project, and if you get different models, and if they use different texture, could you also release your reskins that go with vanilla models?
When you're done with project, and if you get different models, and if they use different texture, could you also release your reskins that go with vanilla models?
Why not release the new models with the new skins? The new character models are mostly just going to be higher poly versions of the originals.

I guess while your at it, is there any possibility of fixing the UVs around her ears? They look way off in all the screenshots, but it's not the texture's fault.
Why not release the new models with the new skins? The new character models are mostly just going to be higher poly versions of the originals.
I meant optional thing that people could use if they wanted to reskin the old models, for whatever reason.
That makes her look like a creepy alien.
I'd say that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I get where you're coming from. Looks like the majority likes Alyx the way she is, which is perfectly fine. I'd rather see new content than catering to my petty concerns anyway.
so what's the word on those high poly heads anyway? are they going to be constructed fundamentally differently? Like, more defined eyelid flaps and all that for more convincing movement? If this is the case, would the eyelashes need to be included in the regular texture, or would they go on a separate alpha made for hair planes on the eyes?
What about using the models from Source Filmmaker? From what I've seen they have converted the Half-Life 2 models for SFM. See if those work for you.
What about using the models from Source Filmmaker? From what I've seen they have converted the Half-Life 2 models for SFM. See if those work for you.
Converted only means that the skeleton has been changed and it has an IK rig, otherwise it's the exact same model
Nevermind, Source Filmmaker doesn't come with Episode Two models and animations.
One of the things that bothered me in the Valve models was that not-matching texture between her neck and head and her fingers... god damn I hated her fingers. They looked like they were rigged from a head crab zombie. Between 2004 HL2 and Episode Two in 2007, Valve couldn't be assed to fix her low poly fingers.
NOTE I have released Alyx, Barney, and G-man's skins on the Open Source Filmmaker forums, due to requests. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/OpenSourceFilmmaker/discussions/2/846945955285856173/
