The town is coming along smoothly. I've added a couple more houses and expanded the walkways. I've finished the interiors of one of the buildings. The process, i discovered, actually took me longer than making the rest of the building.
For the first floor, I added two waterfalls in the opening walkway, built a kitchen and dining area, and put a lounge with a TV.

For the bottom floor, I added three rooms: A bedroom, laundry room, and bathroom. For the laundry room, I attached two cauldrons to two sticky pistons and put a switch between them. This allows the cauldrons to slide in and out of the walls, replicating a washing machine opening and closing. As for the bathroom, I added a toilet and bath. I originally was going to add a shower, but I could never work out the sewage system.

Got one of 8 towers finished built. Seven more to go, plus the keep which I aim to make taller than the walls and towers. All done in survival with no cheats. It's getting ridiculously hard to find coal anymore in the ravines nearby.

whenever me and my friend forted up in multiplayer survival our chests would be tens of stacks of coal.
I've already burned through at least 30 stacks of coal smelting all that stone.
There are two ravines below the two villages that surround the castle. One is completely dried up of all resources, the other is almost dried up. It just feels tedious to have to travel further away to haul back resources.

Never thought of the enchanting.
As for the trees, I would need coal/charcoal to make more charcoal and to me that's just a few steps too many. At least when I'm hunting for coal I find lots of iron, redstone and a bit of gold.
I found another ravine below the desert across the river. I'm going to build a rail system to it so I can excavate it faster and better.

You could also get a Silk Touch pick and mine some stone, or find a Stronghold and take the bricks from that.
Halfway done the walls. Haven't had much time to work on them due to work and college. Hoping to finish before the fall season swings into full force and I'm too drenched with term papers to do any of this.

After about a week or two of digging and fucking around, I have finally finished the walls and general outline of my Nether Fortress. The walls of the fortress have two layers, the inside being made of stone bricks while the outside is composed completely of Obsidian blocks. Took me days of mining and tossing water on lava to gather up enough Obsidian. I'm also doing all my building in survival, so you can imagine how much of a pain this has been with the Ghasts flying around. Course, the wall is now lined with indestructible Obsidian, so Ghasts can suck my dick now. I'm also going to get some more Obsidian later on and construct some towers for the outside along with some decorative designs on the walls of the exterior.

I've also finished one of the big rooms in the fortress and even gave it a little carpet design. All that remains is for it to be furnished.

One last thing, I need a suggestion from you guys. I built my fortress in front of a mountain and there was this little area that was carved out of it. It's inspired me to continue expanding my fortress into the side of the mountain, but I don't know what to make out of this room. Any suggestions?

If you want something functional I'd go with an alchemy room/crafting lab.
If not, either a throne room, or wait until the next update and use it as a trophy room where you can put all the mob heads.

I call these two towers of my castle wall "The Twins". The wooden roof was a pain in the ass. The tower exterior is uneven due to the diagonal wall coming at it and that made the roof uneven above.
