Just installed Tekkit for the first time. I feel like I'm getting in over my head
Play survival so that you'll start from scratch and learn things progressively. If you do it any other way, like Creative, or even just giving yourself the item before you're able to craft it, then you won't get a feel for how things work. When you've played to the point where you know how to make each item and what you need it for, then it's a lot more coherent.
I know I post these alot, but a screenshot of my city from today. Tried to get as much in as possible. One of the towers isnt fully lit yet as I've got people working on the interior.
I used to understand just about how everything worked in Technic/Tekkit but jesus christ what the hell is a slag furnace, what is clay, since when were there crystallizers and how on earth do they make metal into crystals, what the shit are factorization grinders what is HAPPENING
Factorization just adds machines that process ores. There's several steps: 1) Put ore in a slag furnace. It outputs ore with a 20% chance to double the output for each ore, and often outputs an additional item (in the case of, say, iron, it can also output Stone, and with silver it can output silver or lead, which you need ALOT of lead to get by in Factorization) 2) Grind the ores, could potentially increase output if smelted in slag furnace, 20% chance of increase either way. 3) Wash graveled ores. Slight increase again. 4) Smelt clean gravel in slag furnace, makes reduced chunks. Slight increase. 5) Cleaned chunks are dissolved in Crystallizers with sulfuric acid and then recrystallized, by this point you have an average 300% ore yield (could be more, could be less, but it averages 300%). Smelt crystals for ingots.
I assume Factorization is in the newest version of Tekkit?
I assume Factorization is in the newest version of Tekkit?
-Snip, mis-read- We're not testing Tekkit ATM, just a collection of mods that have been made for 1.3.2 that aren't ready for release (and will be further delayed due to 1.4). Basically I have the privilege of testing out stuff like RP2, IC2, BC and others before most other people.
Anyone remember that Akkan I made like 10 months ago? I finally got around to updating it. Been working on an adventure map for the past couple of days, I've done two sneak peeks of it so far showing off what I've done. Sneak peek one Sneak peek two
Did you use something to upscale it or just rebuilt it? I'm actually in need of the sort of tool.
MCEdit Clone tool. It will appear with copy of the item, and a dialog box halfway up the left side. There is a scale blank in the middle of it, I just set it to two. It does mean you will have to go redo the outer walls and such, and floors as well. But it is easier than rebuilding the entire thing
Finally decided to explore beyond the mainland where I've been building all my things. After much sailing, I realized through my map that I had stumbled upon a massive ocean biome. Perfect place to begin building an underwater home that I've been wanting to for a while. When Profan's server has the map changed when Bukkit has a 1.4 recommended build, i'll be doing an underground city, hopefully avoiding the usual problems of it being simply a box of air underground with surface-style buildings. Currently working on it in creative, done the stairs entrance, but not sure whether to go stairs or half-blocks. Which of these 2 do you guys think looks better? Suggestions? [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655158/house.png[/t] A simple "spawn hut" I've been working on for the last 30 minutes or so for me and some friends starting to play minecraft again, gotta say I'm in love with the laid down logs.

If I might suggest as well, instead of having the stairs flat like so: - - - - have them sunk in the middle slightly, like this: - _ _ - so that there's a slight bannister or w/e it's called on each side of the staircase.
Working on some secrets for a server spawn, I recently got this texture pack and MC looks much better, if only the grass wasn't green as hell in the desert biomes.. (also the logs are a bit odd on the sides)

Default texture pack, ugh. Wow I made serious progress. There was even a convenient hill underwater near the mid-section that I was able to build into. Managed to build a Hub, workshop, cafe/bar, library, and greenhouse so far. But by God, draining the water from inside the glass is so fucking tedious. Solitude Keep, my house, which has been a work-in-progress for way too long (still going). It's on the Atrevenia world (SMP) of McSteamed, the official steam group server.

I drained the lagoon to put in a containment area you can see at the bottom. [t]http://i.imgur.com/35SOM.png[/t] The tunnel goes into this underground nexus kind of thing, that leads to the three domes and further underground facilities. [t]http://i.imgur.com/awwN9.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Md2ot.png[/t] This is what I put in the drained lagoon: [t]http://i.imgur.com/tDV5l.png[/t]
I hope to get somewhere that large soon, but fact is I don't know what kind of rooms to keep putting in. I'd put in a swimming pool room but well...there's water everywhere so. Maybe later I can dig a tunnel into the sea floor, connect it to my underwater base, and from there dig a mine cart tunnel to one of my other bases. Or I could just make a glass mine cart tunnel, except that would take so much glass I'd have to dig up an entire desert biome.
We were working on a Black Guy...

Must be nice if you can build something like that
Greco/Roman stuff: Aqueduct I finished not long ago - it was a pain in the ass getting those arches right. A small cistern. I'm not happy with the lighting in here. The mens' bath of my unfinished bathhouse. I thought the detailing on the right wall turned out quite well. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] Sorry about the pagestretch!
Greco/Roman stuff: Stuff Sorry about the pagestretch!
I actually really like this! The bath house looks kinda neat, and I love the Aqueduct. (I might have to steal the idea of Aqueducts myself :p) You are right though, the Cistern could use better lighting towards the middle. On a side note, in the bath house it looks like you got stairs half submerged in water? How did you do that? I thought water ignored stairs and made a little pocket of air.
How is that server? Much Down time, many resets, many griefers, so on and so forth with these questions? Must be nice if you can build something like that
Very little downtime, I don't know the exact statistic for it's uptime but I've never had any trouble. They started a new map fairly recently (~6 months or so ago) so there won't be any map resets for a good old while. There are lots of griefers, but the server uses a custom block protection plugin the hosts made themselves which allows you to build beacons that protect blocks within a certain radius (e.g. a diamond beacon protects a 64-block radius). They also support localised rollbacks so damage done by griefers is literally non-existent. Not to mention it has a brilliant community. Would thoroughly recommend for a vanilla-esque SMP server. PS: Same server, some builds on the previous map (now archived). House (TickTower) Avatar pixel art :v:
This is Orion Its dimensions are 151x63-45. It is being done on survival server. Because of a plugin (forgot which) there is going to be a player city on its back with different players building their own houses. 100% legit, took five months to create it.

Pictures are a dud. Please repost.
Made this in The Emeralds server. Has a ocean floor room, two rooms above that, another room above that, then the two above surface levels, with the Multi-leveled farms around the trees
I started building a ship behind it
Did some revisions of that ore processing module I posted earlier. Only notable change is that there's a few more crystallizers than the old version thanks to this neat trick: This is actually a crystallizer tower for the iron processing module, the silver one I posted a while back has two towers: One for silver, one for lead.
