Updates on my desert map. I've decided it will be an adventure map. God help me with redstone. First time I genuinely spent 20 minutes trying to rig a piston to slide a section of a wall open. I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but once the map is complete would any of you be interested in assisting with the redstone puzzles or storyline? The map is about... 40% complete. On to some pictures... The starting camp with tents, strange pillars and a mineshaft. At the time I was messing around with some texture packs. Not sure of the fence around the camp, may have to remove it.

Lower depths of the mineshaft. Giant stone golem?

Catacombs and a little altar.

No major advancement on the inside. New texture pack makes it look tasty though.

I like the warm colors with all of that underground
Looks like it'd be fun to explore.
Updates on my desert map...
What texture pack is that? Inspiration?
I'd hope it will be fun to explore. I don't really want this adventure map to be too linear, but I guess there is little room for 'exploration' in a giant temple other than basic catacombs and desolate rooms. Who knows... I just sort of add things to the map for half hour a day and then spend most of my sunday building it. It keeps the ideas and easthetics of the map fresh. As for the texture pack, (using the tents picture as reference) the one on the left is dokucraft 1.4.2 and the one on the right is JohnSmith 9.7. Even though the lighting and colour schemes are lovely, the pack does not have enough intricacy like dokucraft. I'll probably keep looking for one which will eventually suit the map.
Biggest thing I've attempted to make in Minecraft, doing it online and legit survival so it's slow going. Netherrack is just temporary so I don't waste smooth stone
Working on this city. It's called Bird City, because I was watching Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law at the time I was making the region. It's on a Tekkit server owned by myself and Akito8. If you want to see it in person, be patient. Once I finish the city and Akito8 is ready, we'll open up the server and the forums to the public. We're not sure if we want to do creative or survival Tekkit.
Progress! I plan on putting the letters E and T, nice and big on the front in White and lime Green Wool, with glass panes all around it and the front

It's just a shaved version of what you're doing. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] How the fuck did I end up building the same thing as you? I looked up examples of apartment complexes on google and just copied it from the image. But I had to scale it into a 20x20 lot for the city. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] I demolished the version I built and I got rid of the grid streets on the sides of the city. So now that I'm not restricted to my 20x20 plots, I'll build the whole thing.
Well that was really strange, good job guys! Same idea!

Mine's shorter though, Didn't want to hit the clouds and not everyone raises their cloud limit

[editline]5th November 2012[/editline] I don't know what to do with the interior. Do I make it a loft? Or make rooms and shit?

I'll grab a screenshot once the server comes back up. The building ended up being 36x18 due to the space restrictions I already have. (Even though I made them)
Just looked at yours, Holy shit they're similar. You probably couldn't fit 6 rooms per floor in that... 4 Maybe, 3 comfortably no problem but a Symetrical building with odd number of rooms is weird to do
I need suggestions for my sea base. I expanded on it again. There is now a farm area with animals (which were a bitch to get down there in survival) and a plantation area where I grow crops. This is alongside the main foyer, blacksmithing/crafting room, cafe/brewing room, library/enchanting room, and a small room that leads to a mine beneath the sea floor. I was thinking of constructing a tower coming out of the water that was only accessible from below, but I think that might ruin the general feel of an underwater base so I need better ideas.

I'm building the regular full scale version like in this picture. I improvised with the sides and back of the building obviously.
Wow that sky, how?
That's not my picture, I'm using it as a sample. I have no idea how to change the sky texture.

Almost all the images on this page are broken. Is it me, or your pictures?
Almost all the images on this page are broken. Is it me, or your pictures?
It's just you. [editline]6th November 2012[/editline]

I ended up leaving it as two apartments per floor. I certainly have no shortage of housing in my city. All of the towers I built equate to housing for at least 100 players. The server can't even handle that load as far as I know. I might take one or two of the buildings and make the floors into shop space instead of housing.
It's just you.
Broken for me as well, opening them in their own tabs forwards to an actual page instead of just the image so it's being served with the wrong types. Postimage bad
