Did a nice render of the city in my world

Another render from a different angle, shows off the cluster better, tower to the left is "The Shard" from London, under constriction. Loads of lots for people to build on.

That FOV is absurd for rendering.
Yeah I know but I wanted to get everything in
The hills in the second image look way too artificial. Otherwise it looks great.
Here's a much nicer render than the last two.

And one at night, complete with long exposure star trails!

Nothing against the above city-builds, but whenever I see huge builds like that, with skyscrapers and bridges and whatever else, they always seem so soulless to me, like they lack character and all that. Maybe the modern style doesn't lend itself well to Minecraft, but detailed builds with medieval-ish or even just remotely old-looking buildings always seemed far more engrossing.

My best days in minecraft were spent building out of cobblestone and dirt with little understanding of the game. As soon as you start caring more about aesthetics than functionality I think the game dies a little bit. The problem is that there is only so much functional stuff you can build, which is why I like mods like tekkit.

When the server is opened as a huge RPG each room of each building will be buyable then customizable, give it a few months and it'll be anything but soulless.

Well not every room, but you get the idea haha
Hey umm if you wanna waste your life on good looking ships be my guest
What's the point in having fun when I could sit in a chair and eat and drink all day to fulfill my basic living necessities?
Snip I quit the server.
Hey umm if you wanna waste your life on good looking ships be my guest
No, see, he built ships. You build wooden row-boats with sails on them.

Guys, I'm currently working on a horror themed map and I planned to use the command blocks.
I'd like to know if there are possible commands to do for the following things :
-Freezing time on sunset : Because a horror map set at noon isn't quite good and full night doesn't really fits the project.
-Disable weather : Because nobody likes rain.
-Remove bats : The map will contain lots of dark places and they would be way creepier with a oppressive silence instead of bat squeaks.
Thanks for your help. I'll post WIP pictures soon.
Not really minecraft based but it happened as i was playing MC , everytime i hit the shift key i have to press it again before i can do anything else, someone help?
Also to be noted it does this with any key that isnt a letter even being the space bar @_@

-To my knowledge, time commands can't be used with a command block. I tried this over the weekend and either I did it wrong somehow or it doesn't work.
-I don't think you can disable it, but you might be able to work out some complicated system wherein a BUD switch or something checks for weather somehow, and sets off the command block with the "toggledownfall" command. Not sure if that's even accessible by command blocks though.
-I don't think you can selectively disable mobs from spawning; it's all or nothing, or some other convoluted system of spawn control like selectively darkening the areas that a player's in so that mobs don't have time to spawn or something similar.

For the time, I don't think you can fix it. Just have frequent pressure plates that trigger command blocks to do...
time set <value>
To stop the rain, simply use...
weather clear
As for bats, I recommend that you disable automatic mob spawning and do all of your mob spawning through the use of egg dispensers. This gives you much more control over the battles the player experiences and allows you to have dark places which aren't littered with mobs. Disable auto spawning by using...
gamerule doMobSpawning false
So essentially you will have a lot of pressure plates and such to constantly set the time, set the weather to clear, and spawn your desired mobs. I recommend making it impossible to avoid them by covering a path with them, forcing them to jump on it to progress, or rigging up the command block to a door lever / button.
Theoretically you could rig a timer to a command block that automatically sets it to night every amount of time.

You could, yes. You would need to place them quite frequently though because as you move away from them the chunks will be unloaded from memory and so won't be updated (and so the redstone wont be running)
Thank you guys. It's working pretty fine.
But now I gotta ask if there is a way to hide the command notifications from the chatbox. It keeps showing "time set to <value>" every two seconds.
