Playing this alongside the original Myst's full OST is the best combination.
This mod looks absolutely amazing but I don't understand anything about the whole 'unstable age' thing. I'm going to get the newest Tekkit and have a play about with this mod. I find Tekkit much more fun because it holds my attention much longer than vanilla minecraft. Hopefully I can find a resource rich world and mine the shit out of it or something. Also, can someone explain what this decay is and why it exists. Does it cause slowdown?
Decay is caused by having too many age modifiers, or clashing age modifiers within an age. This tends to occur with randomly created ages, i.e. ones you entered before writing. This is because since you are not able to select what modifiers the age contains, and selection is more or less random, there is a chance of receiving contradicting modifiers. There are a few types of decay, here are some I know of: 1) Random Explosions 2) Extreme Lightning 3) Corruption (blocks which self replicate and destroy other blocks) 4) World decay (The world falls into the void in certain areas) If you write simple ages, you have less of a chance to get decay.

I've not played mine craft since the beta and the only reason I know about that Tekkit thing is because of some guy who's obsessed with it at college.

If you want to try out the Direwolf pack you can always try my server, or Inacio's for whatever his uses, or 343N's(When it's up) for whatever his uses.
Allright I think I got that Feed the Beast thing running on the direwolf pack (I couldn't find a default pack and that one seemed to be the only one with industrialcraft and mystcraft. My experience with Minecraft consists of playing the beta and not getting very far, so all of these mods at once should be pretty damn fun! I'm hoping I get the same feeling of 'wow' as I did when I very first played Minecraft and didn't know what the heck was going on.

Just a side note to the OP: The amount of worlds possible is actually 1,84532399 × 10^272. There are 128 symbols that can be used to modify worlds, along with the possibility not to add symbols (an extra 'empty' symbol) making a total of 129. There's no limit to the amount of symbols that can be added so the amount of worlds (of which most are unstable) is 129^129 = 1,84532399 × 10^272. Which is quite a bit bigger than 20.000
The new mystcraft can create more than that probably. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5182016/2013-02-16_21.05.34.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5182016/2013-02-27_15.00.34.png[/t]
i cant work the new mystcraft for shit anyone have a text tutorial yet
There are some posts around the official wiki (which is damn near impossible to find) and its forums (also impenetrable) that appear to go into some detail about it, but I've been unable to make heads or tails of them. The first age I wrote with the new mechanics was horrifying; it was fullbright, raining, had that awful rainbow in the sky (which glitched out whenever you looked at one end of the cylinder), it had slowness, and it was a floating island.

Thanks to that tutorial, I was able to make a Mars-like age. [t]http://i.imgur.com/xRd9rQN.png[/t] Better depiction of the sky: [t]http://i.imgur.com/i8cpFKC.png[/t]
You can effectively use this mod as a teleporter, my little brother set up some odd paths that made like 3 jumps from an old base to a new base and a different path to get back. Lots of fun.

It would be kind of neat to have an adventure map that relied on Mystcraft where you fell into a book and had to keep going through different ages to find a book that links back. Sort of like the original Myst, I guess.
