Well that's pretty cool.
My friend asked Valve for a Source .MDL copy of the Animal King model for his level.
He got a reply from Richard Lord saying they don't have one since the elevator videos weren't rendered in Source.
I made this for him, he sent it to Valve:

And got this back!
Richard Lord to me:
Haha! Very nice mate! Looks proper wicked! Cant wait to see what you do with it!
IMO the skin needs to be darker/ more brown.

If you have a G9x Mouse too, THEN you're the Mega Master Race. Though we should really quit derailing now...
What's the difference between that keyboard/mouse and a normal one?
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
"Normal" as in any other brand.
I should be getting my father's day gift from Valve in a couple days. I'm waiting so when he isn't home. (live with him until I go to uni)

You gotta release this man! :h:
Here's one I tried sending to gaben@valvesoftware.com
Hello, Gabe.
I beat Portal 2 (singleplayer, anyways) the day it came out, and I will say it was the best times I've had yet with a Valve game yet. The Characters and humor was fantastic, the enviroments extremely awesome, and the story was interesting right up to the end. It's definately one of my favorites now, so I give thanks to you and the rest of the development team for making it possible.
But I will say there's been some things on my mind after beating the game in regards to some of the cut content. Certainly I know from looking at the histories of the development of the Half-Life games that I would be seeing many things in pre-release promotional material that wouldn't be in the final game, but I do feel a little disappointed over the cutting some of the earliest announced content for the game. Specifically the Personality Spheres, whose intial role in the game was given in the March 2010 GameInformer inside scoop articles published on their website and magazine.
As they exist currently in the game, the Personality Cores have become very memoriable, espically Wheatley and the Space Sphere (who seems to slowly becoming the new biggest meme to come out of your games), and I find Rick the Adventure Sphere a personal favorite. But with Wheatley being the obivous exception, they only appear during the final battle, which is disappointing after the early reports had a good chunk of the Portal fanbase thinking for the months of anticipation that they would appear throughout the game as characters who would play a larger role in the plot, as elaborated on in both GameInformer and the Final Hours of Portal 2.
After hearing Portal 2's developer commentary, I understand why they were cut, which is because there were too many to properly develop as characters. But I can't help but wish they still had a place in the game. Personally, I feel that they could still be there, due to Wheatley's talks in the opening sequence and the first few minutes of Chapter 5: The Escape about "upper management," which could refer to other cores that have been lurking around the extremely huge ruins of Aperture Labratories trying to keep the place from exploding. Plus I find it hard to believe that Wheatley is possibly be the only Personality Core wandering about.
I hope you'll take the time to read this e-mail, and that perhaps you'll let the Portal 2 writers know my thoughts on the game. And don't get me wrong, Portal 2 is still fantastic, but I just had that issue with the Cores bugging me for quite a bit.
Also, I hope Valve's taking the probably massive amounts of e-mails coming in around now for free autographed stuff and tours of the offices well. I'm sure there's been alot of them after the word about those things happening for e-mailers getting these things started spreading around.
Sincerly,

As of yet, no reply. But I just sent it last night, so can't give up hope yet.
But I dunno, might be too TL;DR.

Subject: Question 'bout Portal 2
I was wondering, I know you're a busy man and I'm just a customer of valve, I was wondering - What is the point of skins for Portal 2 if you are only going to do co-op once? Are you guys going to introduce something replayable such as some kind of Deathmatch? As it seems rather useless to have skins, hats and all that merely for one run through of co-op!
Explain?
It was late at night when I typed that...
Gabe always used to reply to me, but he hasn't replied to me in the last year and a half at least :sigh: I feel so abandoned.
As a side-note, does anyone have the contact information of the people that made the Plush Turrets? I'm interested in the technical specs of those things, I want to know how they rigged everything for when I make my mini plastic/polyurethane ones to send to the Portal 2 team.
Also, any good suggestions for PoTaTOS material for the actual potato? Foam doesn't cut it, and I don't want it to be cheap.
Bumping because I need a reply! This is vital to creating mini-turrets!
You gotta release this man! :h:
I'm still working on it. I have to redo all the base animations since resizing it screwed them all up. It also doesn't work as a standard Portal 2 turret because of that. Here's what I have so far.

There's still some clipping issues to work out...

Wow, I though I was the only one. Oh also now I know how big that mouse pad is compared to my mouse. (same mouse :P)

Img thumb didn't work.
Well, it looks like this needlessly large picture:
Wait, img_thumbs still work in quotes.

It also works with itunes, wmp, zune, loads of other games, and I think ventrillo and it also has an in built RSS reader.
I had this chick from Valve completely randomly add me on Steam and she hasn't answered any of my messages, anyone else experienced the same?
[editline]14th May 2011[/editline]
And before anyone claims bullshit, she's in the official Valve group and she has 1700+ vidyagmaez.
What's the official Valve group if I may ask?
I asked gabe for an autograph and got this:

In other news, does anyone know the name of the head of source engine development or something to that effect?

Look here, at the Source presentations. The person whose name is on those is probably the person you're looking for: http://www.valvesoftware.com/publications.html

Bought one didn't work, then got a g15 it worked. the end.
Whats the point of a screen on a keyboard telling you useless information you already know because its what you're doing right now. Surely looking at your monitor is easier/nicer to your eyes than looking at a tiny orange pixelly screen

When I'm ingame I can't easily check my CPU temps or how much bandwidth I'm using.
