Looks like my e-mails are being obscured by yours, I tried e-mailing her about the Valve store (it doesn't ship to my country at the moment and I want to change that), no answer.
Asked her same question, she promised to keep an eye on any news.
I want to send a mail to valve, but I am not sure who to send to or what to say really. I want merchendise :v: (Or however it is spelled)

Hm. Does anyone happen to know something good to write to get them send something? I'm not that good at convincing people to do as I want, and I have no idea how what to say :v:

Do the same thing like I did. Write what you like about Valve, their games, their people, Steam. What you like the most in their games that they are putting in. For example, I told them that I love their soundtracks and awesome voice acting. You can tell them that you like their art style with characters, environments, atmosphere, story and so on. Be sure to put a lot of background information into it, that they know that you're a fan.
I wrote about 500 words, almost a full A4 site in Word and sent it to the frontdesk.
Although you shouldn't do it, I asked for a CS GO key and she sent me one and one to my friend (still needs to arrive though). Better don't ask for something.
If I ask for something, how'd I say it? :v:
Hello.
I would like to show my appreciation about Valve, and all wonderful things you've done. I can't really do much, except writing this down, slightly containing my story.
Since I was around 9 years old I've been into computers, when I was 12 I heard about this 'Counter Strike'. It seemed kind of fun, even though I had never seen anything about it, or anything more. January 30th 2008, 10 days after my birthday I was bored and decided to google 'download games', and Steam popped up. Curious as I was, I swiftly downloaded and installed it. I was disappointed when I noticed that it was mostly a store, but then I found demos and downloaded Enemy Territory or something, don't really remember it's name, that was the first First Person Shooter I've played. Around 1-2 months after I got Steam I convinced my dad to buy my a copy of Counter Strike, which I immediately enjoyed. I wasn't good, didn't land any score the first days, but I still enjoyed it. When I got my first kill, I was thrilled. I felt that I got a foot into the game. With the game itself I really loved the simpleness, even though I mostly played de_dust and third-party made maps.
Eventually, I started to get more and more games into my library, most of it was more First Person Shooters. Not that far after I got Counter Strike, I got myself a copy of Counter Strike: Zero, and Counter Strike: Zero deleted scenes. I started to learn about alot of games long after they had been released, sadly, Counter Strike: Zero never worked for me, but Deleted scenes did. I loved the story and the maps.
On Christmas, I think it was 2010 I bought Counter Strike: Source and Garry's Mod (Wasn't planning to buy Garry's Mod, but because of the package I did), I played alot of Counter Strike: Source, but got slightly stuck on Garry's Mod. Via Garry's Mod I learned about Source engine and alot of other useful things about Valve and Steam.
I eventually bought myself Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode 1, and episode 2. I also bought Day Of Defeat: Source. The story in Half Life 2 almost pushed me off the chair. It was amazing. The face posing and voice acting was really good. The mapping even better. I directly started to save up for Episode 1 and 2. It was as amazing as I hoped it to be, except the ending. Still waiting for Episode 3, hehe. Because of how much the story overwhelmed me I felt like I really wanted to play as the citizens, thankfully there was a gamemode in Garry's Mod that let me do that called 'Half Life 2 RolePlay' and was part of the OpenAura scheme.
Another your masterworks was the success 'Team Fortress 2'. I loved everything there. The roles, the voice acting, the characters, the story, the maps and mostly the opportunity to bash heads in and everything my way. Another thing I love with it is the hats. I can play how much I want, it's almost like a dress up game for men!
I loved Portal, too. The story, as well as all the other games amazed me. I loved that you could puzzle around, and the high speed movements. Abit sad that it wasn't long enough, though. When Portal 2 came out I didn't have any money to buy it, and I needed to wait for the sale 2011, and when I got it I loved it even more than Portal, the story was even more improved, well. Everything was.
It might feel too much to ask for, but if possible I wonder if I could have some merchandise to have in my room, as I love Valve and all work they've done. Also if possible a beta key to CS:GO, as I am not sure how to get it otherwise..
Gave it a try. Is there something I can improve or should I just scrap the whole thing? (Should I add my adress into the thing or should I wait for a response if they ask for it?)

Original email of mine was inquiring about working at valve in future and which steps I'd need to take, etc. She sent a wonderful reply, and after a bit more of an exchange I end up with this! So happy, Mary receives my unconditional love.

I toured Valve's office today. Do you think that's worthy of a separate thread? Or should I just say what I all saw here?

We've had a bunch of those, so unless there's anything super notable, I'd whack it here.

One day, I will visit Valve to either shadow them or just watch them work.
My questions to Mike Morasky (Composer from Valve):
Hello Mike,
I'm a huge fan of the music you produce. You really know how to make soundtracks that fits into the game.
I've got some questions and I hope you can answer them:
1) What are your favorite (Movie-, Game-) composers?
2) When exactly do you know that a song is done? There's always something left, isn't it?
You always know that you can make it sound better, so when do you know that a song is 100% finished?
3) I've read that you guys have hired an ex-Blizzard composer to do the music for Dota 2. Is that true?
4) Moreover, did you contribute with any music in Dota 2?
5) Do you know Joel Nielsen? He is the composer of the Black Mesa modification. Although he hasn't
released the soundtrack yet he has plenty of music on his site. Did you listen to anything from him?
He has also released some early samples of the BM soundtrack many years ago. What do you think of him?
In my opinion he is really talented and was the right person to compose the music for the mod.
This gets me to the next question, about the next Half Life installment. Kelly Bailey has composed the music for the Half Life games.
Since he has left Valve, I've become curious about the soundtrack. Dota 2 has a fantasy themed soundtrack.
Portal 2 has electro themed, distorted music, that fits into it. Kelly Bailey had his style to make the Half Life soundtracks as they are.
And I really liked them. Sometimes they did sound a bit strange, different, but they always somehow have fit into the games.
6) So I'd like to know if you are going to follow the style he has put into the Half Life games,
or are you going to make it different? Or even completely new?
If you don't want to answer this question, you can ignore it.
Thanks, that's it, from me, for now.
He answered:
Hi Nermin and thanks for writing.
I’m doing very few select interviews at the moment. I hope you forgive me if I don’t answer all of your questions.
I had heard Joel’s work for Black Mesa but hadn’t listened to any of his other work. Thanks for pointing him out to me.
I would love for the opportunity to work with Kelly Bailey again, he is a friend and a fine musician.
Dota 2 is being composed by Jason Hayes and Tim Larkin. I have not contributed to any of the music in Dota 2, just some technical support.
I hope that answers some of your questions.
Thanks again for writing!
mike
Well, he couldn't answer all of them, but I'm still happy, that he replied!
I also got a reply from Chet, I asked him:
Hi Chet,
there's a higher chance to get a response from you on this email, than getting a patch from Ubisoft that removes the stupid Starforce copy-protection from the amazing game adaption of the King Kong movie that was released in 2006.
Did they ever contact you guys to put it maybe on Steam? Without Starforce? Because I've wasted my money on a game that I can't play and even the support of them doesn't help me.
He answered:
How do you know it is amazing if you won't install it?!?!? Huh?!?!?
I've forgot to tell him, that I played it on my PS2 back then and couldn't find the disc anymore and bought it again for PC.
