I was pretty broke last year, and I tried to ask for a portal 2 poster signed/ or any portal 2 collectables for my brother's birthday(he had a cake portal styled/portal 2 copy from my mom). I asked politely, but never got a response, I'm sure they were just very busy or something, should I try again for anything since my brother's birthday is in 2 weeks? I'm not cheap, I've given some pretty great gifts in the past, money has just been very tight for the family.

I hate asking for free stuff so I asked for something for my friend's 19th coming up. 19 is the legal drinking age here so it's a pretty big birthday, so I figured I'd buy him a drink and give him a sweet poster if Valve sends me one. I hope they do, his walls are goddamn bare.

I need to email someone at Valve who does mapping with hammer, does anyone know who I should talk to?
I need to email someone at Valve who does mapping with hammer, does anyone know who I should talk to?
I emailed Phil Co and he's a little busy this week apparently
I emailed Phil Co and he's a little busy this week apparently
I wonder why.
I sent Michael Abrash a mail.
Dear Michael, I just read your new blog post. All of it. It was truly fascinating. I really liked the part where you told Valve was still contacting you for 14 years. It was so fascinating in fact, that I wanted to share you my train of thought. I have been making a few models since Oct 2011, using 3ds max. I've learned most of the program myself in just one saturday. I have created several working models for Team Fortress 2, following the same style the team has set up for the game. I've also done some programming in C++, though that was nothing extraordinary. I've also used the Hammer Editor. As you can read, I've picked up some VERY minor experience in game designing, and I decided I like creating things. Currently, I'm following a basic ICT course in Helmond, the Netherlands. This college offers multimedia (mostly making websites) and programming, using C++, which I'll most likely follow. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer anything to do with models. For that, I'm going to have to study at least 40 miles from where I live. There is only one game designing studio in the Netherlands, named Guerilla Studios (they made the Killzone series) in Amsterdam. Amsterdam however, is at least 200 kilometres from where I live. Since you have first-hand experience in becoming a game designer, I would like to know what my chances are in doing the same. Your blog post opened eyes for me. It truly did. It showed me how Valve works behind its curtains, and I like what I see. I hope you can tell me on how to become a game designer, and I would extremely appreciate it if you could find time to send me a reply. Thank you,
Found this thread and it reminded me of the signed l4d2 posters I received from Valve. I go to my wardrobe where I kept them safe until I got enough money to buy frames from them. They weren't there. I searched high and low for them but I couldn't find them. So, I asked my mum whether she knew where they were. She said, "You mean those tubes, I didn't think there was anything in them, so I chucked them in the bin." Fuck you.
Just got some free stuff from valve [t]http://puu.sh/qqfK[/t]
So I wrote an email last weekend about a little typo on de_train in CS:GO since everything's written in russian on that map and also asked how the whole Blizzard vs Valve trademarking Dota thing went. She didn't reply to any of that, instead she asked if I wanted the poster (that I asked for quite some time ago) or a dota 2 key. Went with the poster, even though I have a shitton of them already (bought those fuckers from valve store). And at some point Mary replied with: "that message was the closest I ever got to banging a chick"
You dog.
Hey peeps, I was considering sending a mail to Valve for some stuff as well as other things, but the only contraint is that I'm living in France, and it's a pretty far way from America, do you think It'd still be able to get some goodies without having to pay postal charges ? (I'm literraly the poorest man alive)
I think we should all pitch in and get Mary like a day massage or something cool like that.
Dude, she works at Valve. Why would she need a stress relieving massage?
Dude, she works at Valve. Why would she need a stress relieving massage?
Yeah, they get them weekly anyway.
I think we should all pitch in and get Mary like a day massage or something cool like that.
Funny thing is Valve already have a weekly spar treatment free of charge in their offices.
I sent Michael Abrash a mail.
I sent him a very very similar mail. Also, on a sidenote, he posted an update on his blog here.
Well everything is in it's place and I can't stop the smile on my face cause I'm happy, I'm happy in this place
So who should I email, should I just send it to marym@valvesoftware.com or should I use another adress ?
She is going to send a poster to me in Belgium, Thats close to France. I guess it's going to be around 2 weeks.
