Yesterday it was 5 weeks ago that Mary said she'd mail me goodies, should I keep waiting or send her an email askins her about it?
Patience is a virtue.
So I emailed Mary and I asked her if I could send my HL2: Raising the Bar book to have them sign it.
She replied like 10 minutes after and she said yes and gave me the shipping address to send it to.
I am excited.
Ten minutes? Really?
I emailed her two days ago and haven't heard back.
Does Valve just dislike me or something? :(
I'm at least giving it until next Friday before I feel let down.

Valve don't work weekends and have periods of busyness. People who get quick responses most probably send the email just as emails are being read and responded too.
Sent an email asking if I could get my Meet the Medic lithograph signed, I hope Mary gets back to me.
So I'm at school and decide to check my e-mails. Turns out I got a reply!
I asked about the Steam giftcards coming to Australia, she says she'll get more info. I asked for a DOTA 2 card, she said she'll mail one. And I asked if lunch breaks often have good ideas for games, and apparently they're wonderful times for ideas.
Here's the reply.
NAME REDACTED- I'll check on the gift cards for steam, don't know the answer. If you send me your address I'll send you a Dota card to try. Loots a great ideas come from our lunch breaks!!! :)
Mary
I've also sent an e-mail to Robin Walker in the past, asking if he was impressed with what the community submits, way back in 2010.
HERE'S A BLAST FROM THE PAST!
The turnout is crazy, we're having an internal war over here trying to figure out who the winners are. Whoever we decide, it's likely we'll end up shipping much more of the content than just the work of the folks who technically win the contest. It's really exciting & fun to see what a bunch of talented folks have done with our characters. I hope they enjoyed making their models as much as the fans will enjoy having them in the game.
The TF2 community's creativity still astounds us. Every time we invite them to make something in TF2's universe, they surprise us yet again. It's addictive, we want to keep doing it!
Robin.

That e-mail is dated July 03, 2010, so I think it'd be about before the Mannconomy Update?
Gosh, now I'll make sure I play the hell out of DOTA 2 so the card won't be wasted.

According to your Steam profile, you live in the Netherlands so of course the shipping is going to be a while, but it's like Gabe always says, "Worth the wait."
They have to go through all sorts of shipping transfers, international shipping things here and there, and being able to fly it across the Atlantic to get to you, so yeah, it takes time.
I'm in the US and it's been a little over a week, not counting the weekends and holidays, and my thing hasn't come yet, but like I said, they have to go through shipping transfers, etc.
Just hang in there.

The flying Dutchman got his stuff in 3 weeks, and he lives in the Netherlands too.
So when they say they'll send you stuff, do they usually reply after you give them your address? Or do they just send it without any fanfare?
It's pretty excitin', knowing that in a while I'll get a delivery. It's the same when you order something off the internet, I used to buy a lot of Fangamer merchandise and the wait was always exciting.

You think after 5 weeks Kirbyfactor is still exited?
I don't think so. I think he's starting to question whether or not something will come at all.

Well uh, I send her this email:
ear Mary, I am very sorry if this bothers you or anything.
About 5 weeks ago, I send you an email asking for goodies and my adress (Adress goes here) and you said you would send me some, is the post just slow or did you not send them atall?
I am sorry if I offended you in any way, or if I've wasted your time or anything.
All the best
Niels
And she just replied to me:
Niels – well you have me there….I didn’t have the postal code to send something out to you. Thanks for following up. I will get something out today. You have not offended me AT ALL!!! I appreciate your patience J We love our fans and try to take care of them.
Mary
I'm geussing she read over it the first time, still very awesome and sweet that she replied.
I once mailed in one of those fake TF2 update promos. It was a catalogue ad for the Dead Ringer.
They sent me back 3 Saxton Hale comic book covers, a letter personally stamped from one of his assistants, and an envelope with his face on it.
Well I went to Valve and gave Mary the Dolphin. She said she's heard a lot about Facepunch, so I thanked her for all her awesome work she does for the fans and gave her the Dolphin. she really liked it.
Mary is awesome and nice.

If she knows about facepunch I'll feel sorry for her, this is a really fucked up place :v:
Bet she has after the card I sent.
[editline]7th June 2012[/editline]

Remember it was I that discovered her favorite animal. :eng101:
(but I was hoping it would have been a tiger, I have a glass tiger figure I don't need)

She was pretty.
Be descriptive... R34 on mary.
Be descriptive... R34 on mary.
I think even without seeing her face or knowing what she looks like, we can safely assume Mary is a beautiful person. And I mean that in the sense of how she's interacted with fans of Valve. Her warm personality and friendly nature have endeared people to her specifically.
I wish everyone who interacts with customers would take a cue from people like her, in both her kindness and generosity (and I don't just mean free stuff; I mean in how she takes the time to respond to so many of us in the flood of emails we've been sending her.)
I'm sure this has been asked several times throughout the course of this thread, but what is Brandon Reinhart's email address?
[editline]whatever[/editline]
Well fuck, I just realized there's two Brandon's at Valve. Now I don't know which one I should contact. :S
Be descriptive... R34 on mary.
Going to be interesting when Mary next reads through this forum to say the least.
Going to be interesting when Mary next reads through this forum to say the least.
Maybe she doesn't know what R34 is...
MARY IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND DON'T KNOW DON'T LOOK IT UP!
[sp]At least not at work[/sp]
Be descriptive on what she looks like but NOT R34 descriptive.
Like, what color/length her hair is, does she wear glasses, is she fair skinned or dark skinned, etc.
you guys are creepy.
Or maybe we're just curious?
Nah just creepy.
I was actually wondering too a while ago then I realised there are 0% chances she's a chick.
Stop it guys.

Because, you know, women can't be related to ANYTHING that has to do with video games or the internet, right?
Right guys?
Hello!
I was just wondering. What has been the strangest request that you have received as Valve's Front Desk from random interneters like myself? From fellow employees?
Thanks, and have fun!
This one! Haha – no someone wanted to get a snack signed by Gabe!
