There used to be a part on the head that held the light in place. However, they got rid of it so she could show more emotion.

What is this
Wait... are they going to make it sound more electronic like GladOs, or are they going to keep it like in the new gameplay videos?
They're going to get a new voice that's actually good.
Am I the only one who thinks it would be awesome to have some lil' fucker helping you in the game who sounds like that?
I seem to be the only one who wants to keep that voice actor.
I seem to be the only one who wants to keep that voice actor.
Trust me, you're not. There's plenty of people who want it to stay because they think that being satisfied with it means it's the best possible choice.
So far the only arguments I've seen for keeping it are they're afraid he won't be British and that they're afraid the new voice actor won't be able to... voice act.
But the thing is, he is going to be British, they decided that long before these voices were recorded and confirmed it in interviews long ago, so don't worry Anglophiles. AND the new voice actor was described by someone at Valve (can't remember who) as "a personal hero of mine" so it's probably a fairly well-known actor. The guy who made the placeholders is an animator, not an actor, and it shows if you actually listen. Hell, the guy himself admitted his wasn't good and that we'll like the final guy better. He probably doesn't even have the desire to voice act.
So really between a well-known British actor and a random animator who happens to have a British voice, which do you want?

Same. I don't get why everybody hates him.
Meet the scout
Meet the soldier
etc.
Meet the sandvich
Now Meet the Wheatly
I need to hear it with a robotic tone before I judge it, cause right now it sounds like an annoying British person is blabbering in my ear at the most unnecessary parts, like when GLADoS is rebooting.
"AYEAYEAYEAYE..AYE! OH THATS NAwT IT!"
"i was busy being dead--you know, when you killed m--""YOU DID WOOOTTT??AYYE THINK SHE LOIKES YEEWW"
Also, I have nothing against British people, but I don't think this fits at the moment.
The new Source Engine looks incredible, DYNAMIC LIGHTING!
I think i know the password to that hatch or whatever Wheatley is trying to open it's PORTAL.
6 letters like ''AAAAAB''

more like alot of env_projectedtextures
which is already available in the current ep2 engine we have now
I actually laughed when he forget the very second combination ("Wait, have I said B already?") and asked you to write down every of millions of combinations that he will try. Well, it's a robot, what did you except.

env_projectedtextures is a projected texture, it doesn't light up anything, it just removes the pre-compiled shadows and dark areas on props and "live-spray" a decal on them.
This, on the other hand, is a dynamic lightning, There are no pre-compiled lightning on the maps.

Brits dislike the voice most afaik, so we're not taking any offense.
The graphics looks really sexy. Valve has done a really good job on it.
Also, i don't tend to watch these clips because of spoilers, though.
I think there's a hidden message of coop mode for portal 2 in that video.
They also released it on steam:

Oh my god! Can't wait for Portal 2!
No computery voice please, it's fine as it is.
Co-op in Portal 2?. What?. Really?.

Old! xD
But Valve better keep Wheatly's current voice actor. It works very well.
Is that a yes or a no?.
Dumb for xD smiley.

Its a yes. Its a separate campaign though.
Personally, I don't like the character Wheatly at all (from what has been shown). I hate the idea of having comic relief in a game as dark as Portal because it just ruins the atmothsphere. That's part of why Portal was so good. Because it was only you and GLaDOS and it was some of the most pitch black humor ever presented.
But now, with Wheatly it's just silly.
I think they should get Wheatley a bit of a mechanical sound. Not like GLaDOS' first super-robotic voice, but the level of mechanical sound she has now, because I somehow fear the accent loses its charm when it's warped too much. Then again I don't know how the alternative would sound like.
So, I've gathered VALVe is thinking of making the placeholder voice official. Wonder if the voice actor they originally planned for him is pouting now.

I don't think he will follow you in all the chambers, though.

He won't follow you everywhere. It's Wheatley-GLaDOS.
As said, i think he's just a tutorial.
I think they got the best voice for Wheatley. He is still a bit like a child, has funny jokes, but deadly serious. And looks like he does not know what happened in GLaDOS' chamber that day. BUT he knows there is a backchamber. Any idea what can be there?
English (brittish) is just so soothing and nice..
I wish i was a brit :frown:
