Max Payne 2 has some pretty well scripted and detailed creepy scenes like [sp]the funhouse where you meet mona[/sp]
On the other hand the "nightmare" sequence was pretty hilarious because of the weird shit that happens with the notes and the phone-calls. Especially the breaking of the 4th wall in the game.
Big spoilers regarding MP2
[sp]I never really understood why Vlad betrays you, does he just do it because you know too much about him?[/sp]

[sp]IIRC, part of the reason was because he got greedy after taking control of what used to be the Ragnarok. And then all-of-a-sudden he fell in love with Winterson, which didn't help Max and Mona (who were also in love), and pretty much the whole case, at all. Love is a powerful thing.[/sp]
[sp] You kill his girlfriend [/sp]
That and he's russian.

I can't really remember but I think it's [sp] because you find out he's behind everything[/sp]
But [sp] why did Vlad order the hit on Annie Finn?[/sp]
[sp]Vlad buys guns from her at some point, which means it could be traced back to Vlad from her thus needing to kill her.[/sp]

The greatest trick in the nightmare sequence in MP2 was when [sp]you were near the end, running after yourself, entering a room filled with smoke, seeing the "other you" running at you, shooting him and realising it was a mirror when you got closer.[/sp]

I was wondering when someone'd notice that. Kiiiddding of course.

Ooh, that's the same scream the flamingo does on one of the Address Unknown TV's. The one when you are going rooftop to rooftop and find Gognitti.
You know, Rockstar likes killing their main characters.
And, Max Payne 3.
That would be interesting.

They did it once. I don't think that qualifies for them liking to do that.

Fuck no, Rockstar. Fuck. No.

RDR wasn't the first time they killed of main characters, just have a peak at GTA4

Niko didn't die at the end.
They also killed off [sp]Cole Phelps[/sp]
But I don't think they will kill off Max. Even if they did, it would probably be in the most badass manor imaginable.

GTA4 has multiple endings IIRC, so maybe 2 and a half games they kill the main character in, out of how many games?
They also killed off [sp]Cole Phelps[/sp]
That wasn't Rockstar.

But it was Team Bondi's game, not theirs. Besides, I doubt it will happen, because it's too cliche.
By the way, finished the first game a couple of hours ago. Gonna do the second one.

[sp]Nobody from Rockstar helped write L.A. Noire. The head writers of the game who came up with the plot are from Team Bondi. Rockstar contributed funding, some development help, and publishing. Rockstar did NOT make L.A. Noire. Again, that's not saying they don't deserve a lot of credit; they basically revived L.A. Noire from the grave. But they didn't help write it.[/sp]
Appears I was mistaken, but let's get back to Max Payne. I hope we get clever nightmare sequences.
I think it would be foolish to not have them in 3. Rockstar says there's still quite a bit of stuff they haven't shown intentionally, and that there will be a lot for Max Payne fans to appreciate. If Rockstar intends on keeping the tone, especially if Max is drinking heavily with all kinds of blackout nightmares, it would be smart to have them in there. I'm probably just optimistic.
The fact that rockstar said he is still 'fighting his demons' kinda confirms it for me. They would be stupid to have him fighting his demons in some narrated dialogue for the whole time.
I remember buying Max Payne in a bargain bin for $10 in 2005 when I started high school. I look back on it and the effect it had on me, I'd call it the sole reason why I fell in love with crime novels.
I even wrote one of my litrature essays during my final year of high school on the motifs in Max Payne.
It'd be cool if the game started out in a nightmarish type sequence, going through some of the key events of the first two games, but with everything getting all fucked up.

Everything got fucked up in the first two. Well, Bravura pulled through surgery so there's that.
I don't see Max dying. If anything, Passos will die really violently or something (Assuming he doesn't totally fucking betray Max, I see that being more likely.)

Yeah, I remember some of the scenes, it'd just be cool to see it done again with the current graphics and technology.

I thought people were merely mistaking Max's scream when he falls from a long height.
Then I ran into a dead end and, oh god, I wasn't expecting that.
