Yeah I was just wondering if anyone else thought the sniper is OP. I've also seen people rapid fire with the mini30 pretty accurately so I don't like it.
So, [sp]was Passos lying when he said that he went to the academy with Max? The way DeSanta says "did he?" when Max brings it up makes me think he told to say that by Victor to convince Max he was a good guy.[/sp]

He probably was, but [sp]Passos probably used it as an icebreaker, rather than for persuasion. Max knew that Passos wouldn't do something extremely terrible though, even if he had information kept from him.[/sp]

The game leaves so many open questions that I doubt this will be the last Max Payne game. The Max Payne universe has plenty of open stories that could be explored.
Max after Max Payne 3, doubtful Rockstar would start right where they left off.
Max with Alex during his years at NYPD would be a very interesting game and would be a great reason to go back to the old New York setting for Max Payne.

Agreed, I think if they do another Max Payne game, it would be best to do a prequel. That would be pretty good, doesn't hurt to get more of an insight into Max as a character.
Oh god some of the punchinello taunts
"I'm gonna grease you, then fuck your corpse!"
"I'm gonna whack you, then
-fuck your mother
-piss in your face
-shoot your dick"

And who is gonna be the model for Max? You know, Sam Lake got rid of his constipation a looong time ago.

James McCaffrey. Just making his face a mash-up model of him and a Sam Lake look-alike

i dont see how that would work at all seeing as his wife and daughter would still be alive the game would have none of the dark revenge themes nor max's overall bitterness.

How about who cares, Its still max payne even if he isn't mad/drunk/revenginator.
no not really.
Its still the same game about bulletdiving and shooting guys with berettas even if max isn't a depressed wreck.

Mix it up a bit. Max is seriously wounded or something in a new scenario, life's flashing before his eyes as he remembers bits and pieces from before the series' start, during his undercover time in the Punchinello family, maybe recreated scenes from the games even except with alterations to show that Max doesn't remember them perfectly well. All the while he tries to survive in the present and figure out how things are fixable there or so forth.
yes I realized this is basically hitman contracts in a nutshell after I imagined it

Also sounds like the plotline for the upcoming 007 Legends.
A good premise though, could be that its based during the time he was boozing it up, and he is just either playing all these events back in his head, or explaining it to a bartender who probably doesn't give two shits.
How about who cares, Its still max payne even if he isn't mad/drunk/revenginator.
max payne 3 didn't feel much like max payne in tone, that suggestion would be nothing like it in the slightest

It didn't feel like max payne because it was in bright brazil and gameplay was nothing like the first two.
It didn't feel like max payne because it was in bright brazil and gameplay was nothing like the first two.
Yeah no.
The gameplay was spot on and excellent, and it felt like Max Payne - albeit, with a little more emphasis on bullet time and cover than before due to how accurate these bastards can be. The story is what felt off, and not because of it being 'bright Brazil', but due to thematic and generally more aggressive-metaphor circumstances, due to Max seeming more like Bruce Willis to some people rather than the Payne of old. And even then, for folks like me, I don't see that; it's different, but it feels like a Max Payne game one way or another.
I don't know... I like those ideas about flashbacks to his NY cop times, but I think for a fourth installment, they'd need to get just a little away from the bullet time shootdodge gameplay. I know it looks awesome, but I do believe it would get old with another game that in terms of gameplay just stylizes violent shootouts through slow-motion jumps and bullet cams.
I think that something that gives the player a little more freedom is in order, possibly even with adventure elements..find clues, talk to people, although I'm aware that the latter in particular would completely change the way we perceive Max Payne. But the way we perceive him now is, I believe, a bit one-dimensional. We're only ever in control of him when he's shooting people. In order to bring some more immersion, or identification with the character, or whatever you want to call it, I think it's necessary to let us have him do more than punch holes out of bad guys.

how can you say the gameplay was nothing like the first two, you don't even know what you are talking about and you make no sense
the setting fits perfectly because the theme is redemption and it is a whole hell of a lot better and makes more sense than staying in new york!
rockstar max payne 3 vs whatever the original developers made, i'd say rockstar would get it better, drop your nostalgia

Wait what i enjoyed the game and i can't be nostalgic because the first time i played the originals was this year. I was just saying that if the game doesn't feel like max payne its not because max isn't trying to get revenge or whatnot.
Might as well put this pageking to use. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595846361398938051/F45C5321313FA0D445649E7BB31989C40CBD4CDB/[/t]

max payne is a video game meant for shooting people, if you're looking for a story you'd better get a book or a script or something - the developers shouldn't change the game itself because you think there isn't enough depth - there is, and it is clear to see what and who max is because he literally narrates everything he does
It didn't feel like max payne because it was in bright brazil and gameplay was nothing like the first two.
'Bright Brazil' only because it was day most chapters and doesn't snow on the city.
The story itself has nothing bright on it, it's even more darker than the second game.

okay maybe it won't feel like the same game because rockstar actually risked making the game make sense and forwarding the story after the events of max payne 2 - but you can't say the gameplay is different because that's like saying counter strike is different from counter strike source

What about the endgame? No revenge there right? [sp]Just blowing planes casually[/sp].
Also another game in New York has to be a prequel between the first and second game or second and third games, if Max Payne 3 was in NYC again, I'm sure I wouldn't buy it.

And now the imaginations and ideas for a first-person view mod come to mind.
This theme is incredibly bitter sounding compared to the two themes before it.
