Make sure you're installing the latest nvidia drivers using the 'Express' option, not 'Custom'.
It's a game that completely doesn't work, i cannot redownload because i am just under the monthly data limit from AT&T, and updating drivers didn't help me at all. People are rating me dumb because i'm out of options and nothing i've used has worked.
People are rating you dumb because you are talking about never buying anything from steam anymore over something that a) is not even decided yet and b) wouldn't be Valve's fault, it wasn't them who made this game that doesn't work on your computer.
I don't think Valve said anywhere "We guarantee that all games sold on steam run on every conceivable hardware setup and regardless of how well the system is maintained."
I agree that shops should take their customer service beyond that which they are legally bound to do.
But the way you are approaching it, with threats in mind before you've spoken to anyone, you're not very likely to provoke them to acts of exceptional kindness...
Do you meet any of the minimum specs, at least, Zombini?
Do you meet any of the minimum specs, at least, Zombini?
Doesn't matter now, steam just fucked up and didn't download about 5 GB of files that i needed to run it, i verified game cache, said nothing was missing, but automatically started a 5 GB download, that download is finished, and the game now runs perfectly.
no, it just means you have to keep that 1 save, ala quiting and resuming the campaign will only be possible by clicking resume campaign or w/e
The "continue" option is never available. At least not after my first playthrough.
Managed to beat the game on my friend's PC in ~12 hours.
It was great. Max really felt like Max, the storyline was good, the amount of detail staggering, and the weapons actually felt like they packed some punch (until the part when you start fighting with the [sp]police SWAT-alike guys[/sp], where you basically have to shoot them in the head or waste over a magazine trying to kill them with body shots). All in all, a fantastic game. I also loved how we got a pretty happy ending for once.
Oh, and the New York levels made me realise just how amazing a remake of the first/second game on MP3's engine would be. Make it happen, Rockstar!
Also, I feel like I should post this, if it hasn't been posted already.

That's actually pretty cool. I think I might buy it for a dollar.
as in that it freezes up mid-cutscene? try verifying the game cache and then restarting your computer.
Yeah right about when Max says "Get lost, kid" the screen is bugged already (black mostly), then crash.
I'll try that verifying.
i save 100 bucks to buy a copy of the game
i wait 1 week to get it
i format my computer to be sure everything is ready to run the game
i install it
it doesnt work
this is amazing, if this is what i get by legally buying a game then im back to pirating.
i mean what the fuck, pirates probably managed to get the game working the day it came out without spending a single buck.
Am I the only one that thinks that [sp]Giovanna[/sp] has probably the most comically seductive ass Rockstar could make? I mean holy shit, in most cutscenes I end up glancing at her ass everytime she climbs over shit. I'm glad that the camera work didn't focus on her ass, though. It's already awkward enough playing a game that has naked strippers in it while your GF is right next to you.

Brazilian women are famous for their asses. Honestly, i think the stripper in the favela bar was hilarious. Most of that cutscene was g-string and cheeks.

Zombini had similar distress above you, try and look around for fixes or help instead of exploding in anger. It works fine on many computers, mine included - yours might not meet specs, one of your parts or some data on your computer is fucked up somehow, the install might've gone wrong; there's tons of possibilities, some of which even pirating the game wouldn't fix if they occured.

damn i think we might know were rockstar got the idea for [sp]the exploding bum[/sp]
those crazy cleaners have invaded his turf
Would like an invite to the social group, theLazylion
I'm on chapter 11 and just discovered the melee move, I'm in awe.
I really enjoy Max Payne 3 SP, I'm not even that far into the story and I know what I'm going to waste this week on
but mp is godawful, clunky, terrible, unbalanced, and 2012 - it's all about pointing your gun at these red names and pray to god that recoil doesn't fuck everything up. I can't even see anyone doing this bullet time stuff - it's just cover and camp or sprint and spray lmao

If you are anywhere close to a GTX 570 card and Win 7 HE like me, installing new graphics drivers might just do it. Seeing how you formatted and thing. Went through a fair deal of trouble, and for nothing, before the new drivers.
And about pirating.. Max Payne 3 is not the kinda game I'd pirate. I pre-ordered it. It's Max Payne 3 with brutal headshot wounds.
Today I beat the game for the second time, on hardcore.
First time was on hard.
The most frustrating part was in the favela when you are behind a cement block and Emanuel & co. throw molotovs at you.
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Max+Payne+3
yeah, i'm def scared for future r* pc releases (they already pulled RDR on us)
Steam doesn't reveal sale figures.

On that part, I instantly switch to my AK47, go into slow mow, head to the left stairs and headshot everyone on the way there. If there are any enemies left, you're given good cover up the stairs.
What's Old School like? Is it easier than any of the other difficulties? I guess I can grind the fuck out of all the trophies for the game, this is probably the only game that I really want to get a platinum for.
if you don't understand playstation lingo: I want to get all the achievements in the game.
Old school is easier than Hardcore IMO. It's basically like if they took hard or something from MP2.
Hardcore you take 2 hits and you're dead.

You get more Bullet Time, and the difficulty's on par with Hard or so. The 'last stand' kind of mode you go into if you have a pair of painkillers left but lose all your health, is removed from the difficulty. Essentially just removes your second chances; if you can beat the game without constantly going down in the first place, it shouldn't be too hard.

thanks for the free dumbs by the way.

I always run out of ammo at that part. It happened on hard, it happened on old school, and it happened in arcade. I remember when I got to the RPG part, I didn't have any ammo at all to shoot it so I had to watch it explode me.
[editline]20th June 2012[/editline]
Old school is easier than hard. The difficulty also feels a lot more like the first two Max Paynes.
Does softlock/hardlock do anything when you're using a keyboard and mouse?

I never ran out of ammo during that part of the favela mission. I usually just died too quickly because I missed a molotov.
This is kind of off topic, but does anyone know if the copy of LA Noire you get as a preorder bonus comes with the DLC or not?
