What I love across all the games is that Max is not a superman, just VERY hell bent on accomplishing something.
I think Max is pretty good in MP3, he seems like a really nice guy in this one.

The reason why that thug is there is not because he's real, it's because it's a hallucination and Max is emptying the pharmacy's supplies.
Interestingly enough all those pill bottles are physics items; I could shoot them around and they lasted in the world for awhile.

This is pretty much MP3 in a nutshell.
Finished singleplayer on medium/normal difficulty yesterday. Having not played a Max Payne game before I thought it was a blast, and I can't understand why the game hasn't done better commercially. It might be because I haven't played the previous games but I really liked Max's character.
Also, the soundtrack was brilliant, the graphics were nice and the gameplay was rewarding and smooth in my opinion, and the game itself was surprisingly long. Overall it's an excellent quality game.

Might have something to do with it coming out on the same day as Diablo 3.
I just beat Hard in MP3 without knowing I could roll or sprint. I'd just shootdodge between cover and just hobble my way past snipers and shit.
Also I really want to try NY Minute Hardcore but my game crashed twice through my playthrough so I'm not even going to bother with that.

PC version came out 2 weeks after Diablo 3, which is the only market where that might have been competition.
Favourite songs on the soundtrack? I'm a little torn between Max Panama and 9 Circulos. Listen to them both and you pretty much capture both sides of the game

This song's chorus is reminiscent of Max Payne 2's theme song. It also embodies how Max is at the end of his rope, he's got ONE chance to deliver. And oh boy, did he deliver.

And obligatory mention to TEARS. It's the perfect adrenaline pumping song for the scene it appears in and is perfect for the credits as the the lyrics foreshadow what Max does: Gives up on grieving now that he's done something right.

I remember someone mentioning Tears had the backtrack of the original game's intro track / Ms. Valkyr (remixed, of course). I could kinda hear it, but does anybody else think so, too?

Ok, this multiplayer is pissing me off. There's no way to check your ping that I know of, but I must be in the 500s or so because when I die it's always instantly and the report says I've been shot ten times or so, and when I shoot at people they don't take any damage. My accuracy is like 10% but that's bullshit because I'm fucking aiming at people and they're not getting hit. I've tried the playlist like 6 times now and it's always the same.
This is why fucking servers are needed, not matchmaking bullshit.

Most things need fixed, the snipers for instance, too overpowered, the spawns, and of course the servers would be nice. it's a shame not many people play the other Gamemodes
In my last recent game a guy [sp]Called Illsicket or some shit[/sp] got at least 100 kills using a G3S sniper. [sp]Rough guess[/sp]
Everyone told him to get out and go get a life after the game :v:
But i'm enjoying the multiplayer.
Now that I beat MP3, I can say I totally agree with you on Max's dialogue, he really sounds nothing like Max Payne, I wasn't too sure just from gameplay videos, but it really doesn't act much like a Max Payne game outside of slow mo diving and pain killers.
I had no issue with the change in scenery though, it would make sense for Max to not want to hang around New York anymore.
It really is a good game, just a weak Max Payne game.
I think overall the tone was a misfire. The first two Max Payne games were filled with humour, little surreal touches and cartoonish villains. I miss Max's wisecracks. In the first game, even shortly after his family is killed he's making fun of mobsters and taunting his torturer while tied to a chair. In this one he's either John McClane style angry or horribly depressed and putting himself down.
He just doesn't seem like himself to me. It's certainly possible for a person to change like that, but it doesn't mean the game should be written that way. And I was seriously disappointed they didn't even bother attempting a dream sequence.
The gameplay is brilliant though.
Max putting himself down was quite frustrating imo, Its like trying to read the life story of a facepuncher.
I could never figure out why Max had that big grin on his face considering his wife and child had been murdered.
Beat it on medium, started on Hard.
And boy, is it a whippin'!
If I have cheats enabled and I acquire gun parts and clues, will it disable me from getting them?
Just got the golden RPG from the campaign. It's time to use it in multiplayer for laughs since the RPG sucks.

My score attack and hard mode playthroughs were both easier then medium.
I just got Max Payne on Steam.... Why is he so fat?

That's called "widescreen resolution".

You've gotta play in 4:3.
There are at least 4 massive difficulty spikes during this game, and that really put me off every time I got to those points. [sp]The Harbour on mission 3, the warehouse full of gangsta's after Max shaves his head, the last part on the boat in the cruise mission, and shooting my way through the UFE at the airport in the final mission.[/sp]
Absolutely infuriating when you tap space at the wrong time at the last stretch, hit a wall prematurely, and then get shot several times through the chest as you try to get up. In fact, during the final spike I had I killed an enemy with an assault rifle, started shooting at another and then I was killed by the bullets that fired as the former went down.

I don't see an option to adjust the aspect ratio.
Also, you do realize this is the Max Payne series thread, not Alien Swarm?

It's okay, everyone has brain farts once in a while.
I don't know how to run it without widescreen, the only resolutions available are for 16:9.

Try running in windowed mode.
