I'm considering the rockstar pass. Has MP shown any signs of slowing or losing players? Wondering if it'll be worth it in the long run.

It's definitely lost momentum.
I really don't like how the DLC works in this game. When the new DLC map gets picked the game kicks all the players that don't have the DLC. Now I don't know about you, but I have to be lucky to find a lobby with good amount of players. And there was slight improvement because now I get disconnected about half the time instead of most of it due to that bad data problem.

There's a separate matchmaking lobby for the DLC maps alone.

Just returned from MP3. I have only bought the Local Justice DLC and I have no such option there.

If your Social Club UI doesn't show up, go to MP3 folder, find Installers folder and there install the latest social club UI. It fixed it for me.

A lot of the events in the game didn't make sense.

[sp]I think Victor just wanted more money because he's a greedy bastard, so he had his family killed so he could inherit the fortune. And the cracha preto attack the boat in panama because they heard a lot of money was being smuggled across the border and they wanted it.[/sp]

Now I realized another strange part of the story. [sp]Why the fuck Crachá Preto blew up that Branco company. The story really doesn't go into much details how much is Crachá Preto, UFE and Victor working together.[/sp]

[sp]The Crachá Preto were after Max and probably used as a distraction, via a tip off or such, by the UFE to lead Max away from Rodrigo. That one UFE guy, the second-in-command, then came in, executed Rodrigo, and planted the bomb to destroy all evidence from what I can assume. The Crachá Preto were just unwitting pawns in the entire thing.[/sp]

[sp]The UFE planted the bomb to probably get rid of Rodrigo's body/evidence. It also could have been Victor's choice as a fire/explosion insurance related issue. I really doubt the CP would have blown up the building themselves, considering they a)were not in Rodrigo's office and b)specifically came to the building to get Max.[/sp]
I think part of the reason the story is a bit sloppy is because Rockstar maybe tried to create the story around specific ideas, betrayal, conspiracies, trying to base it all on movies, etc. and they did their best to tie it all together.
That or they really just wanted to confuse us and keep us thinking until the final revelations.
Ya know, I watched Die Hard yesterday and I realised how similar to John McClane Max becomes towards the end of the game. Hell, there's even a reference to the vent crawling, so I think that the devs were aware of it as well.

There's so many references to movies in the game it's ridiculous. Not only the 10+ movies that inspired the Max Payne 3 storyline and design, but also the late night detective noire and Hong Kong kung fu gun battle flicks that inspired the series as a whole. Rockstar people are movie people.

How do you even play on the cemetery map? There's no playlist for it and I've never seen it come up on a map vote.
Chapter IV part I is impossible for me, the game isn't giving me explosion bonuses for blowing up the cars. Is this happening to anyone else?

Hmm, imo that is one of the easiest parts of the game. Are you sure you are thinking of chapter 4?
