It's because the weapons are balanced the same they were in singleplayer, i keep a shotgun loadout handy in case anyone decides to get cheap.
On a side note, is it just me or are the majority of people who use female models also using duel weapons?
It's because the female models have a slightly smaller collision model, and dual weapons are insanely good.
I've never owned a physical copy of Max Payne 1 on PC before, so I bid on the big box PC version on eBay. It came today, and it's super cool. Very glad I bought it, fits into my collection nicely. $35 including shipping for the big box in very good condition, good deal. Didn't include the mousepad, but fortunately I already have one.

Oh, and October 14 2013 is the ten year anniversary of Max Payne 2.

A theme wich plays in the PS2 credits, I have no idea what it's name is or who composed it.
Are there no rewards for Dead Men Walking? Me and some random just did 16 waves of Hoboken, and I got a measly +25 experience for an assist badge, and that was it.
So I finally played and finished Max Payne 1. I'm about to replay MP2 and refresh my memory. I can see how MP1 was great at the time of release but today the gameplay made me rage a bit. What's interesting is in MP1 Max seems to be in same state he is in MP3 but without booze, pills, self-irony and whining. I still love MP3, gameplay-wise it's a proper sequel but writing, although still very good, lacks it's charm.
UPDATE:
Started MP2. I can't help it but MP2 is my favourite of the three. The story is less atmospheric than in MP1 but it feels a bit more human and I think even the writing is better. Gameplay is a dream come true after MP1. :)
Shame that MP is essentially dead, cant find a game at all now
I've been playing Max Payne since the first game came out, and my favorite quote from Max himself, which is totally different compared to his poetic monologues, is only one word, 'asshole'. It was fucking brilliant on that last chase scene.

Motherfucker, this game sure is hard when you play on Hard. Well, on the 360 at least. I must've died at that handcart part in the police station at least 20 times, now I'm struggling to get through the TEARS part at the airport.
Sure makes me feel like a goddamn badass when I finally manage to pull something awesome off and survive, though. As it should.
By the way, does anyone else prefer MP2 over MP1?
By the way, does anyone else prefer MP2 over MP1?
I do, MP2 may not have quite the same drive the first one did story-wise but the game mechanics feel a lot more refined.
I actually disagree, I think MP2 improved not only the mechanic but writing, too. It's less focused on the family but Max still has issues to solve. And to be honest, some parts of MP1 story were a little over the top.

Like the story?
Actually over the top is not what I had in mind. The story in 1 makes these jumps that kind of break the flow for me. [sp]The underground base, origin of the drug,...[/sp] I think 2 flows a bit better.
I think it's his face, too.
Here's a thing

The only thing I didn't like that much about MP3 was that there are so many cutscenes. A lot of the stuff that the cutscenes show could just be shown in-game, I don't know why they went through the trouble.

MaxClane?
i think that both MP1 and MP2 have their own payoffs. MP1 is far faster and way more difficult than MP2 (thus making the payoff for completing something vastly more exciting) but it has less overall variety than MP2. whereas MP2 is slower and somewhat easier, but has more variety in its maps and gameplay. i mean the [sp]hospital escape sequence after the construction site is probably my favourite MP2 chapter. there's nothing quite as fun as knocking down terrorists with doors[/sp]
Why does Max Payne 3 have to take up such a large amount of space??

Cutscenes and high res textures.

This was a late goodbye. Thirteen years after I'd gotten my revenge, it had finally caught up with me. It'd been a long time to bear the pain.
My blood painted the snow red -- a gruesome slushie -- dissolved all the scattered painkillers, and leisurely dripped down to the sewer, mingling with the bile of the city, becoming one with it.
I can see them now, my wife and my baby. Honey, I'm home.
