holy fuck the SAF .40 is quite amazing
How does the MD 97L fare? the assault rifle trailer goes the least in depth with it.
How does the MD 97L fare? the assault rifle trailer goes the least in depth with it.
It's a really good gun. I've been using it a lot since I unlocked it. probably one of the best assault rifles in the game
Nobody knows yet. Three serious complaints about the multiplayer: movement, grenades and melee. My character gets stuck fucking everywhere. Even if you're slightly pressing against walls or objects, you don't seem to move. At all. Sometimes this leads to my character not shooting, even though I'm ADS and smashing RT - I guess this has something to do with Euphoria thinking I'm staggering or something. Even without all the obstacles the movement is pretty horrible. I'm playing with someone who's carrying an AK47, a pistol and two grenades - a bit over 10kg of equipment, if even that. It shouldn't take even a second to stop running right and start running left. It's not realistic. It's irritating. Taking cover and leaving cover sucks too but since I play small tdm and dm, I rarely use cover so it's not a huge problem. Grenades. Takes a minute to throw one and jesus christ, what the fuck is up with range? Grown men throwing tiny grenades maybe 10 meters away. It's like they weighed 8kg or something. The slowness in itself I can understand, it's somewhat realistic. Removing the socket does take a second or two. Combine that with the clunky movement, though, and you get tons of situations where you throw the nade into the wall or object you're behind. Once my character thought it'd be wise to roll the grenade like a bowling ball, not throw it - Yeah alright, the problem was that there was a knee-high wall right in front of me. So she basically dropped it there. Killed myself. And lastly, melee. Never assign melee into the context-sensitive action button. It just doesn't make sense, I should be able to melee whenever I want, not just when there's someone next to me. If you do, however, assign it into the context-sensitive action button, make the character at least hit the target when you are prompted to melee. Tons of times I've died when I had run behind an enemy, fucking missed the punch from 10cm away and the said enemy turned around and one-shotted me. I'm not sure if I should blame Rockstar, Euphoria or R*'s way of implementing Euphoria. Overall I absolutly LOVE Euphoria (didn't like GTA IV but still spent ~20 hours with it, fucking around with Euphoria), but in MP, I'd rather take normal ragdolls and slick movement over super-clunky movement and life-like ragdolls/animation technology. Still, the multiplayer is fucking great. I love it. If it weren't for these three things, I'd probably play non-stop. I've taken four or five pauses from MP today and they were all thanks to these - I was getting so frustrated of the clunkiness that I had to stop and calm down a bit. Long and horrible looking post, I gotta say. Unable to express my feelings in less words :v: [editline]23rd May 2012[/editline] I have to admit, I haven't been to Anttila and the other shitholes in a while, maybe the prices have dropped. In fact, for the last two or so years I've ordered every game I've wanted online.
about the grenades, you can just double tap l1 (on ps3, assuming it's the left bumper on 360), and it'll throw a grenade where you're aiming, I used to do it by going into the menu, then pressing r1 to switch to grenade then throw it til I found that out, made them much more usable.. still times where they should throw but don't though [editline]24th May 2012[/editline] most of us on consoles just use the normal facepunch crew anyway

God, I wish there would be another way to unlock those cheats in chapter selection. Like, a cheat code to open the cheats. I don't want to play the game again on hard or get gold or any of that shit, I just want to fuck things up with infinite ammo, bullet time and painkillers. It's a goddamn SP game, why must they make having more fun so hard.
Personally, I don't mind having to unlock things. It gives me more motivation to play the game.
Just shootdodged with a shotgun through a few rooms in chapter 14 or something, didn't take a single hit and nailed 10 or more armed and armored enemies. Sooo yeah, shootdodge is far from redundant with the new cover mechanics - it's a lot more fun this way too. Damn you son, shot my automerge to death. But yeah, I can see where you're coming. It's just that I'll probably never manage to open them - medium is challenging enough for me. And, I'm not sure if I got this correct, I have to play through the game at least three times to unlock the cheats I want. That takes way too much time. [editline]24th May 2012[/editline] The X360 version got a new patch, 11mb. I wish there was a log somewhere to see what they changed, it's a bit irritating like this.
At least my new avatar's finally showing up.
If you're talking about the black-and-white face on a red background, it's been there for quite a while methinks. If that's the old one then I'm not seeing the new :v: [editline]24th May 2012[/editline] Max Payne 3 - the most satisfactory goddamn shotgun murdering ever in media
Just blew through a few chapters of new york minute. How the hell did someone beat the first level with over 5 mins on the clock? I managed 2:30 nailing everyone in the head and blowing up the cars in the garage. I like how a platinum medal is a painkiller bottle top.
Been listening to the soundtrack. Downright amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=ELPZfygswYTfI&v=DLXGQqPtAQw What's up with media tags now?

For Example: In the first part of the bar flashback when the four guys are in the pool table area. You want to take out the two guys on the first floor, the one who runs and the one who hides behind the pool table. Leave the third guy who runs and hides behind a booth alone. After you take out the first two guys, go into bullet-time and start shooting the railing on the second floor while moving forward. If you take out enough of the wooden part under the railing you can headshot the guy upstairs before he even pops his head over the railing. Then roll forward and melee the guy behind the booth for 10 extra seconds. Melee kills earn you 10 seconds. Getting knocked down in Last Man Standing and getting back also waste's time, so take a lot of painkillers
For aiming a mouse is better, but in general I prefer controllers for everything else as it's much easier to access all the game functions. If someone could invent a controller that had the precision of a mouse that would be amazing, no idea how it would be possible though
Aiming with your thumb vs. Aiming with your whole hand.
Aiming with your thumb vs. Aiming with your whole hand.
Oh man, you know what would really be awesome? To not need a controller at all! You could just, I don't know, move around your character with your own body movements, and aim with your hand! Someone should really invent something like that. I bet it would be fucking revolutionary.

looks really cool, wonder how it works though
looks really cool, wonder how it works though
Same way kinect works I'd assume.
You know what would be great, a USB thumbstick for movement. That way you get the movement precision of a controller and the aiming precision of a mouse. There has to be one of those already, right? Also the MPK is broken, every kill with it counts as a headshot.
Hahaha this game as some of the funniest moments, i'm on the mission where [sp]you're on the roof-top while the whole building is collapsing cause max thought it'd be a good idea to press the button for the bombs[/sp] while on the roof and well there's usually about 5 enemies up there and one on the floor near you, shot the guy on the floor, shot two on the high up part near the heli and the roof started shaking again and one of the guys at the top just stumbles and falls off the ledge infront of me and then i just watched him casually stand up like... "i'm ok".
Got myself Max Payne 2 on the Xbox for £3. Saves me having to buy it in the Microsoft store. Bargin. I'll play it tomorrow.
Funny, I was complaining to my friend about how Max Payne 3 feels like a mixture of Max Payne and Die Hard. Then I realized that that sounded way too awesome to be a complaint. :v:
I feel like I'm not playing the multiplayer as much as I should. To be honest, I have more fun playing through the campaign over and over to see the glorious final kills.
Just completed the game. I wonder how much shorter the game will be when I replay it and skip the cutscenes. The game was amazing by the way.
Bought this for console and already sold it to a pal for 2 grams of bud and $20.. The singleplayer experience is epic, but the MP is shit on the console IMO. All the problems listed above are true, multiplayer is an unorganized clusterfuck of getting stuck and shot in the back or the side. Most of my attempts to flank someone lead to me getting popped by a guy who respawned behind me. I tried free aim which is total shit on the console, maybe I'm just too used to a mouse but god damn. Soft lock is the exact opposite, too easy and quickly boring. Just my opinion, wait for the PC release
Just completed the game. I wonder how much shorter the game will be when I replay it and skip the cutscenes. The game was amazing by the way.
Good luck skipping the cutscenes. The game uses 90% of the cutscene for loading.
I have more fun playing through the campaign over and over to see the glorious final kills.
I'm playing it over again to get all of the golden guns, and I'm amazed at how much more sense everything makes when you play it again. Like [sp]seeing DeSilva at the end of the first mission confronting Becker and helping the injured Comando Sombras. Or at the start of the second mission when Fabriana calls Giovanna the good twin because she works in the favelas, then seeing posters of her in Nova Esperancia. And seeing the organ harvesting doctor's advertisement in a magazine at the first mission.[/sp]
Just finished the story. Goddamn the ending was awesome, I got goosebumps when that HEALTH's song started playing in the last seconds. Tears or whatever it was. Definitely the best straightforward-shooter campaign in a loooong time, one of the maybe 5 shooter's I've actually finished this gen. Now I'll probably go and get all the clues so I can enjoy some more of those MINDBOGGLINGLY awesome slow-mo death cams. GOTY for now in all games, GOTY quite likely in all shooters. At least third-person, I really like Halo so the fourth one may or may not surpass MP3.. We'll see. Nonetheless, definitely the best game I've played this year.
