Max Payne 3 Multiplayer offers a deep and varied arsenal of guns with which to dispatch your opponents, but for those special occasions where you can’t see the whites of their eyes, there is a deadly range of projectile grenade options with which to flush them out or take them down. Our latest entry in the Max Payne 3 Tips Series highlights what they are and how to use them effectively.
- Quick Throwing - Simply tap LB/L1 once to pull the pin and release a grenade in one smooth motion – perfect for when you’re in a hurry.
- Weapon Wheel Grenade Selection - While holding down LB/L1, press RB/R1 to equip the grenade of your choice, ready for you to throw using RT/R2.
- 'Cooking' Grenades - After equipping a grenade using the Weapon Wheel, it is also possible to hold the RT/R2 button and ‘cook’ the grenade. Cooking grenades can reduce the time your enemy has to escape before getting caught in the explosion. Be careful though - if you cook a grenade for too long of course, it will explode in your hand.
- Sticky Grenades - In multiplayer, if you equip the Sticky Tape Loadout item then you will be able to attach grenades to the environment, making it even more difficult to escape.
While standard-issue explosive Grenades are great for flushing enemies out from behind cover or taking care of larger groups, you also have access to other grenade types - each with their own unique tactical benefits.
- Flash Grenades are useful for temporarily blinding your opponents and blocking their ability to use lock-on. This effect can be counteracted by equipping the Military Goggles Loadout item.
- Gas Grenades create a cloud of noxious gas that can cause death to anyone exposed to it for long enough. Using these grenades against enemies that are defending an area is a very effective strategy. The effect of these grenades can be counteracted by equipping yourself with the Gas Mask item.
- Smoke Grenades create a thick cloud of smoke that cannot be seen through by friend or foe alike. They are useful for obscuring your movement from the view of nearby enemies. Enemy players will also not be able to use Lock-On targeting to aim at players through the smoke.
There's also an additional pair of projectiles at your disposal that are useful in certain situations. A crude but effective incendiary projectile, the Molotov (part of the Disorderly Conduct Multiplayer Weapons Pack include with the Max Payne 3 Special Edition) creates a large patch of fire on the ground where it lands and any enemies exposed will take continuous damage for a few seconds. And while the Tin Can might not sound lethal, it creates a very handy strategic diversion on a nearby enemy’s mini-map, giving you an opportunity to get the drop on them.

The latter is caused by one of the bursts I think.
The worst of all bursts, Paranoia. Level 2 enables friendly-fire, even.. It fucking sucks.

It really messes with you. From my play, it's the burst I die the most of, purely because of confusion.

Payne Killer is the best mode.
I dunno why it's only got about 500 people in it, when it's a lot more fun than generic deathmatch.

I never gave it a proper chance, looked a bit like a clusterfuck first time round.
I'll try it again, if i dont get dragged on to Saints Row 3.
I have to admit I'm a little worried at max payne 3 suddenly dropping off the top sellers list completely on steam.
Ok, I tried using the Mini-30 and I can indeed confirm it's OP as fuck.

Bizarre, I checked this afternoon and it was in the number one slot.

Might be because the preorder bonus period is over.
Rockstar Social Club: I unlocked all the golden guns, got the achievement and everything. Checklist says I have 49/84 parts.
I also completed the Campaign on Old School, and Rockstar Social Club says that I did that. But I got no achievement. Looks like I get to do it twice because I don't remember what levels I loaded checkpoints in! (and goddamnit i want the multiplayer character too)
And then I'll play it on Hardcore.
And then on Score Attack.
And then on New York Minute.
And then on NYM Hardcore, taking breaks and not turning my Xbox off.
So, I will have played it about seven times. Woo.
I'm currently doing my Hard playthrough, I'm getting every collectible now so I don't have to care about them on my Hardcore and Old School playthrough.
Actually, on the subject of desert eagles, how good are they?
I always prefer mag loaded weapons to revolvers myself.
I don't really like the Desert Eagle irl so I tend to stay away from it in games too, I'm weird like that.
The attention to detail is amazing.
- You can see that Max's clothes slowly becomes more sweaty during some levels and eventually it's soaked in sweat during the level.
- In the first level when you step out of the pool you can see that Max's clothes slowly dries up when playing the level.
- When you shoot pots in the kitchen you can see water pour out.
- When you shoot glass in slowmotion you can see the "shockwave" travel from the point of impact through the rest of the glass.
- In the level when [sp]you finds out that people are having their organs harvested and Max makes a suppressor the suppression effect slowly wears off and eventually disappears.[/sp]
I love Rockstar.
alright awesome, I just finished the last game
thought the last cutscene looked beautiful, visually, I was actually impressed
The attention to detail is really cool. I find myself playing through Chapter XI over and over again. It's so much fun.

I hope they put attention to detail like this into gta 5, they're subtle things but they really add to the believability
Wonder when they'll release the PC trailer.
Steam store update is in ~5 hours...so thats when i expect preload to start
I cannot fucking wait anymore, I hope I get it a day early, that's one of the best things about pre-ordering months earlier
I think they'll start preloading tomorrow.
WHERE'S THE PRELOAD
WHERE'S THE PRELOAD
If it isnt tomorrow there wont be much point in a preload at all. I'm sure it will be tomorrow.

I wouldn't expect the level of detail for pots or realistic shattering for glass things in GTA V. The difference being that's an open world game and MP 3 is a linear story, so they can afford to go the extra mile when it comes to that.
As for sweat drenched clothing and drying clothes, yeah that's actually pretty easy to do.
