And then there's Uncharted, 50 gigs each game... btw, LA Noire, last Rockstar game was over 20 gigs
And then there's Uncharted, 50 gigs each game... btw, LA Noire, last Rockstar game was over 20 gigs
LA Noire is 14GB on PC, and it didn't use RAGE. GTA IV was 16GB alone and 32GB total with the Episodes From Liberty City. I find it understandable Max Payne 3 is 35GB, considering its using it's using the latest RAGE engine. GTA V will likely be around 40-50GB on PC. The more modern games you want installed, the bigger the HDD you have to get. Time to get a 2TB drive.

You have to wonder what they're actually using that space for. My guess would be uncompressed audio and cinematics but that's a bit silly, especially for the audio part considering the PC version will ship on DVDs anyway.
Cinematics are gonna be all in-game.
Maybe the credits video is rendered at an obscene resolution or maybe it's just the billions of animations but I kinda doubt that because they can't take that much space
So I put my semi-HD MP1 Max model into MP2: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560939541791486189/EECABFD7BAD2ED8C006A810536E043CCCBD9DBF9/[/t] [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560939541791483968/D3F0356758AAB5D1E39E98C081EE58D747CF6340/[/t] [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560939541791489244/441F0A1754AD915CFBAEC0C682C6CC44A6CD4CB6/[/t] I think it looks pretty good.
Fuck if i care. All i care about re the obscene load times when i have to sit at a max of 90 MB/s with this... If it's actually well encoded Pre-rendered Cine's, then all i can say is "about fucking time". I'm tired as fuck of looking at 720p vidoes full of blocking noise that could have been encoded at 480p and upscaled for better visual quality. Arkham games are the only recent ones i know of that avoids this to an acceptable degree. It's still there, but it's far less than the other games.
So I put my semi-HD MP1 Max model into MP2: I think it looks pretty good.
Heh, imagine a full modeling of Sam Lake's face
Heh, imagine a full modeling of Sam Lake's face
I'd love to get the original photos of his face that they used for making the MP1 face texture. A custom drawn texture just can't recreate someone's likeness as much as a texture made out of photos can.

I know Max Payne from the second game is there, but i want the first one a lot more.

Just finished Max Payne 2 so I'm all ready now for MP3 ! Yay
That face, man. How are you supposed to take Max seriously during gameplay while he kills mobsters with a shit-eating grin?
That face, man. How are you supposed to take Max seriously during gameplay while he kills mobsters with a shit-eating grin?
Seems to me that it didn't turn out to be a problem for anyone...
Pre-ordered the "Nordic" edition for PS3. It comes with the Cemetery map, and pretty much nothing else. I got it for like 40€, which in Finnish prices is a fucking steal.
I hope those 32gb's aren't true, or downloading this will be a payne in the ass.

Haha
I really don't see the big deal about swapping discs, especially for a linear game like Max Payne.
I really don't see the big deal about swapping discs, especially for a linear game like Max Payne.
It's archaic.
Bunch of pussies. I remember playing King's Quest VI on the Tandy and it came with twelve floppies. Twelve.
People have asked about it, but since Remedy doesn't own Max Payne anymore they can't release such things.
I'm sure Sam Lake can release photos of himself.
PAX East playthrough article
The first thing I asked the developer as I was playing (and often dying) was the thought behind Max's look. He equated the change to a few things, 10 years have passed and Max has lived a hard life, he has lost everything, abused his body and soul, and let himself go both physically and metaphysically. The game starts with the Max Payne we remember and when he kills a high ranking mob boss he is pressured to leave New York or be killed.

The symbolic act of shaving his head is a cleansing, a throw off of moral shackles to do things that need to be done to survive. It gave me a new perspective on the changes and one I can now fully endorse, it just makes sense in context of the story.

Story wise any fears that this is not a true Max Payne experience should be put aside immediately. Despite the sunny locale and change in Max's appearance, this is the same character we know in all of his dark and morose pulpy glory. His monologues are still present and most importantly the graphic novel style cutscenes are back in an innovative way. Instead of static images refreshing over time, the panels are generated from real time in game assets. The effect is instantly gratifying and brings a visceral and real time feel to the game.
New pictures. I have no fucking idea how the guys at the Alan Wake forums find these, but they do. Pretty honest preview, considering how he bashes the console graphics in one paragraph. [editline]25th April 2012[/editline] Oh cool, a new fan movie is being made that isn't that weird legally-doomed musical Payne & Redemption. This one's called Valhalla.
Holy shit nade launcher. That's gonna be fun shootdodging with.
