they're gloves. the sludge can harden in the shape of the inside of the gloves, filling them and making hands.

he's right
the blood is just coolaid because he drinks lots of coolaid
That sounds like it could work, except for the fact that Barney's identity was shut down. The only reason we're positive that Barney was even at White Forest was because the subtitles showed his color, and I'm not sure that's an in-universe confirmation. Other than that, holy fucking christ.
1:56 "good job, Gordon"
I'm sure most of you have seen this
165 days till E3, maybe something will happen between now and then.
1. Gordon Freeman has perfect operating knowledge of modern weapons and tactical maneuvers in combat against trained US Marines. At no possible point in his background could he have been trained for combat in this depth and been fully educated and gotten a PhD in Theoretical Physics.
Hazard Course + HEV suit (superior equipment) + luck would be my best guess
maybe the HEV suit somehow uploaded combat training into his brain
Hazard Course + HEV suit (superior equipment) + luck would be my best guess
I like to think that the HEV suit contains an AI with a prime directive of keeping the user alive. Gordon does the thinking, the HEV assists heavily with the fighting, they both keep each other in one piece.
That's more then likely wrong however, but hey.
maybe the HEV suit somehow uploaded combat training into his brain
Well, in the PS2 version the HEV suit has an automatic target identifier/lock-on system, using the suit's movement enhancement systems to assist in aiming. Gordon paints the target and pulls the trigger. That's a pretty damn powerful advantage.
That theory is by far the best that i have read from now (even better than the now obsolete Catatonic Syndrome theory). Even there are some parts that reminded me to the mod Mission Failed.
certified, the Black Mesa Incident was the result of sabotage, somebody turned off the dampening fields which is why the entire RC happened in the first place.
Yeah. After the RC, Gina, Colette and Keller couldn´t enable them because "there was a external force" blocking them (maybe Nihilanth, maybe Gman).
Yeah. After the RC, Gina, Colette and Keller couldn´t enable them because "there was a external force" blocking them (maybe Nihilanth, maybe Gman).
If I remember correctly they managed to re-enable them which stopped Nihilanth opening more portals after Freeman reached the Lambda complex teleporter.
It's a shame that after everything they all went through, they still didn't manage to stop the portal storms because for whatever reason the Lambda satellite relay failed or was never activated (likely the latter).
Though it would be cool if they brought back Rosenberg, Gina or Colette in a future game or at least referenced them. I'd have expected Barney to have at least referenced Rosenberg for saving his ass.

Barney's ghost.
wait, if hl2 has been in development for 6 years
that means we get ep3 for 2013?
because 2007 = 5 years (in 2013 it will be 6 years)
1998 and 2004 = 6 years
or is very stupid what i'm saying?
Before sleep I was thinking this lol
Barney's ghost.
rip
I like the idea that earth is just a huge trap for the combine.
But I never understood something. Are advisors the top Combine leaders or there is a higher rank?
As of now, Advisors are at the top, don't look like their modifications are painful- they are beneficial to them, and they are pretty much highest priority in evacuating from Citadel, having shuttles and convoys and barns all over the world.
Of course, it may be changed in next game, but there's no way of telling.
They could be worker type, though- not slaves, just operators - somewhere in the middle, while higher ups stay at comfy homes.
did anybody think about the origin of the combine ?! who is stronger gman or advisors, are they against each other or not ?
added:
Just recently I watched Prometheus movie and noticed really interesting idea, the Engineers developed organic black goo or something, as Janek hinted during conversation with Elizabeth the Engineers used that as a weapon of mass destruction and tested on the military installation, the point is that the black goo turned on them, because it is self-aware, it is killing and then using other alien lifeforms to create a new one.
now, what do you think about the Combine, Advisors and G-Man.
I'd have expected Barney to have at least referenced Rosenberg for saving his ass.
Now that you mention it, it's incredibly weird how when you meet Barney he just says he's also from Black Mesa. Wouldn't it make more sense for him to at least mention how he got out? I'd be pretty darn curious if I were Gordon.
rip in peace barney
you were the best dinosaur
Let's invite a quick thought in. It may be slightly dated or utterly stupid, but what if Gordon is the G-Man, heavily mentally-affected by the events of his character arc in the whole Half-Life series and whatever happens in the Arctic and/or the Borealis, lets him seize control of spacetime and/or Vortessence?

The thought has crossed my mind, but I truly hope Valve's writers are clever enough to not involve any silly time-travel. That's just asking for paradoxes that fracture the story.

Serious time travel on the other hand...
Borealis might have something that can manipulate time one way or another, we of course don't know yet. I want to say it manipulated time to go 30 or so years into the future (which I assume is the time between when it dissapeared and hl2), and only recently-ish appeared in the arctic as it was not found before (and with all the technology AS has there should have been a way to find it before, and maybe would not have been fund it if actually didn't exist anymore in that time).
Of course it may also just be a slow teleport, goddammit slow teleports ruining everything.
It's just highly likely that it's something that can use the portal technology remotely to rip open huge holes in space to go between places, without having to place a portal at the receiving end.

If the reason it disappeared to begin with really was the cause of an extraordinarily slow teleport, that makes me wonder if any of the Borealis workers might still be alive if they were working on the ship at the time of teleportation. That sounds like a neat way to introduce a new character, maybe have him be the sole remaining worker left alive, holding out against the Combine himself, much like how Grigori held off against the zombies for so long.

Maybe we are the HEV AI. Gordon's just there for the ride.

What if Gordon is just a dead corpse, and we are really a walking suit full of preserved flesh? :pwn:
