Hm, I wonder why they used HL2 Beta footage for the game of the decade montage, maybe that's all the stock footage they had.

it better be more awesome than Cryengine, Frostbite, UE3 and Dunia
i'd be happy if it was on par with UE4

I am very optimistic for said new engine. I think episode 3 will be a tech demo aswell as a game.
Why are you asking this question in here?
Because its related to Valve.
Any good graphics mods for this?

Half-Life 2? Well, there's FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod, where you sacrifice artstyle and stability for generic (but high res) textures and neat shaders. Then there's the HL2 Update (SPUF is down so using a alternate link) which atm only fixes the bugs in the Mac Update (3.0 is gonna fix the lighting, add some more volumetric effects, etc.). Finally (shameful self plug), there's the HL2 Enhancement Mod which is a big community effort led by a lot of people (including me!) which takes HL2 and puts it on Alien Swarm, adds a ton of fancy shaders, higher resolution/poly characters, and more!
That's about it. Oh, there's also ENB, but we don't go there anymore... (plus its outdated as shit)

I'd stay away from FakeFactory...

But why? The average HL2 player seems to like it.

I've seen that guy's comments before, he's a complete moron.
There is a RTS mod based on the events of HL2:

Wow i forgot all about that, and it looks like it's really progressed
So how long as episode 1 been crashing after the credits? I noticed it a few months ago

It's supposed to go from the credits to the Episode 2 trailer.
That reminds me, I've only played the Episodes once each. I oughtta play em again, seeing as I've played HL2 at least three times.

Thats an unfair reason considering the latest version doesnt even have the character models yet.

My expectations are low...
Yeah, but the latest version is riddled with mapping and gameplay errors. On the coast you get stuck on so many rocks along with it being terribly dark. Theres also an unrealistic amount of bridges everywhere due to Fakefactory's bridge fetish.
Yeah, you used to be able to say "Atleast the environments in fakefactory look nice", but not really anymore. The latest versions have been complete rubbish in every single way. Avoid at all costs.
I wonder who will be doing music in HL3. Who do you want it to be? I personally wouldn't mind Brian Tyler doing it (he's done some AMAZING music) or Joel Nielsen (he's the guy who composed BM:S's music)

Nothing better than Hans Zimmer.
He is maybe mainstream, but he is the best.

Mike Morasky.

Not really.
It'll probably be Mike Morasky, seeing as he's done the music for other games Valve has released recently. Although if I had a preference, I'd choose Kelly Bailey for HL3.
Skrillex.

dunno about you to me it's a tie between John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Basil Poledouris and Alan Silvestri
might as well add Brad Fiedel, he's so underrated it's not even funny
Brad Fiedel's stuff might actually work pretty well with the HL universe

I remember hearing Kelly had been doing "amazing" music work at Valve post-Orange Box but prior to his departure. I wonder if we'll ever get to hear that work.
Vangelis.
Id like Mark Morgan ( composer for Fallout 1 and 2's tracks) to be doing the music. His music reminds me alot of the first Half Life soundtrack.
